Cary looked at his watch and grunted. He was asked by Mr. Webber to accompany him to shop for his two-year anniversary on April 18th with Miss. Harlow Alenko. The older man didn't know why Ty opted to ask him, other than the siblings or friends. Though, to be truthful…Cary could probably answer that himself. Harlow's siblings weren't too fond of her, even if they knew how to give good gifts. Her friend, Cary didn't know if they were truly genuine or not.
Nevertheless, Cary agreed since he had to shop around for some supplies for the hotel. He told Ty to meet in the lobby of the Silver Stag at 1 pm sharp. It would give them a good amount of time in the city while Harlow was at a dress fitting with her mother and sister for an upcoming Gala.
“Afternoon, Mr. Wendell,” Cary nodded to the young man at the desk.
“Mr. Cary. I'm glad to see you're allowing yourself some sunshine today! You'd be happy to hear I fixed the staff sink all by myself. Just don't tell mum though. Have fun…on your meeting.”
Cary was impressed, of course. The secret exchange of fixing and piano lessons was going well. Also, that the young man had picked up on something happening today - but knew the code of secrecy.
Wendell was correct, that despite it being January - the sun was quite nice for the day. He stood near the revolving doors, waiting for his guest - feeling a bit out of place. For someone who was used to hiding away, being out in the open was a bit difficult.

Ty knew he was being early when it came to buying Harlow a gift for their second anniversary. Though with Ryan Sport Horses being busy with foals being born and new horses coming in for training for the next competition season, he needed to at least start looking on what to get her.
As he didn't really want to drag his coworkers to come shopping with him, he decided on asking Cary. He knew Harlow better than Ty felt he did. Her siblings wouldn't exactly be too thrilled to help him shop for their evil sister. Ty had a quick bite of lunch before heading to the Silver Stag. It wasn't somewhere he appeared too often, though if they were going to walk down main street it was a perfect place to meet. He pushed open the revolving doors, smiling as he saw Cary was already waiting for him.
"Hi Cary, thank you for agreeing to help me with this. I really didn't know who else to go to about getting Harlow a gift. How have you been? Any ideas on where we should start?" Ty didn't even have a clue. The woman already had everything she could ever want thanks to her financial background. It wasn't like he had the funds to buy her a top showjumper either.
“No worries at all,” Cary responded, a bit flatter than most people were expecting in a reply. Unfortunately, a life of servitude had left him in a state of keeping things neutral. “Well, let’s start with what have you gotten her in the past? Miss. Harlow isn’t exactly someone that likes repeat things, per se.” Granted, that was a bit of a lie – as he had seen the amount of diamond jewelry the young woman had. As well as the coats and purses. While they were different to other people – Cary just saw them all as a category.
“Did you have a theme of some sort for the date? Venue and so on?” he pressed as he walked down the street towards the main drag. His steps were long, but he was mindful of keeping a steady pace where Ty wasn’t stuck keeping up.
self-belief and hard work will always earn you success
Ty nodded, he was sure Cary was dragged around to shop with a variety of people. Not very many people liked Harlow - her harsh outer shell was what she ended up showing most people. Though he was lucky enough to be one of the rare few that could see the good in her.
"I've gotten her a necklace and one of those teddy bear rose bouquets. I feel like no matter what I get her, she already has it." Ty laughed, he had to start getting creative with her gifts. He didn't know how her friends did it - though they had their girly things that they were in to. Ty opened the revolving door and headed out the door, walking side by side with Cary as he asked him a question.
"Really hoping that the weather will be nice. I've got a picnic and a trail ride planned. I ordered wine and a charcuterie board ordered from the local winery. Though I feel like that won't be enough." He was trying to get her more experience based gifts, as it was a gift they could enjoy together. Though coming from a rich family - the material tings seemed to matter more.
He was also hoping that the windows from the store front would give him some sort of idea. "I know going with an outdoor theme won't be something she'd like. I don't think she's ever gone camping in her life. So, if you can think of something different, please let me know." Ty didn't want to ask her siblings or her parents - he wanted it to be a complete surprise.
"Have you heard or seen her like something she doesn't have recently?"
Cary frowned for a moment, before making his mouth thin again. “Wine and cheese is always welcomed. Yes…outside of horse riding, she isn’t much of a wilderness person.” He walked, albeit a bit slower than his usual pace. Cary, on his own – liked to walk fast. He had places to be and things to do. But he had to slow down today.
Cary stopped abruptly in front of a luxury jewelry store. “Let’s go in here. I think there will be something here.” Even though Ty said a necklace, a necklace was a necklace. He walked in, holding the door for Ty, before approaching the counter. The man behind the counter smiled with a nod of recognition.
“Mr. Davies.”
“Good morning, Ronaldo – I’m here to see if you still carry your locket and charms collections.”
“Absolutely, please follow me.”
The pair were led to a private showroom. Cary walked over to a case that contained various lockets. “Have you gotten her anything sentimental?” he inquired, looking at Ty.
