“No worries at all,” Cary responded, a bit flatter than most people were expecting in a reply. Unfortunately, a life of servitude had left him in a state of keeping things neutral. “Well, let’s start with what have you gotten her in the past? Miss. Harlow isn’t exactly someone that likes repeat things, per se.” Granted, that was a bit of a lie – as he had seen the amount of diamond jewelry the young woman had. As well as the coats and purses. While they were different to other people – Cary just saw them all as a category.
“Did you have a theme of some sort for the date? Venue and so on?” he pressed as he walked down the street towards the main drag. His steps were long, but he was mindful of keeping a steady pace where Ty wasn’t stuck keeping up.
Cary looked at his watch and grunted. He was asked by Mr. Webber to accompany him to shop for his two-year anniversary on April 18th with Miss. Harlow Alenko. The older man didn't know why Ty opted to ask him, other than the siblings or friends. Though, to be truthful…Cary could probably answer that himself. Harlow's siblings weren't too fond of her, even if they knew how to give good gifts. Her friend, Cary didn't know if they were truly genuine or not.
Nevertheless, Cary agreed since he had to shop around for some supplies for the hotel. He told Ty to meet in the lobby of the Silver Stag at 1 pm sharp. It would give them a good amount of time in the city while Harlow was at a dress fitting with her mother and sister for an upcoming Gala.
“Afternoon, Mr. Wendell,” Cary nodded to the young man at the desk.
“Mr. Cary. I'm glad to see you're allowing yourself some sunshine today! You'd be happy to hear I fixed the staff sink all by myself. Just don't tell mum though. Have fun…on your meeting.”
Cary was impressed, of course. The secret exchange of fixing and piano lessons was going well. Also, that the young man had picked up on something happening today - but knew the code of secrecy.
Wendell was correct, that despite it being January - the sun was quite nice for the day. He stood near the revolving doors, waiting for his guest - feeling a bit out of place. For someone who was used to hiding away, being out in the open was a bit difficult.
full name • Cary Andrew Davies nicknames • Cary, Care Bear, Mr. Davies age • 37 birthday • January 21, 1986 occupation • Maintenance and doorman for Silver Stag and Alenko Family gender • male sexuality • bisexual
the appearance
face claim• Scott Eastwood
identifying features• Cary stands at 5'-11" with a muscular build from years of manual labor. He's rarely clean-shaven and carries himself with great posture, often very lightfoot. Something that he has often scared visitors with - as he was always trained to remain a bit..unseen and unheard. Those who have seen him, view him as a person with an almost permanent far-off look, or someone who is always judging. Which, he sometimes is. he can't help it.
the personality
likes • classical music, staying out of people's way, being hidden, fishing, cool evenings, gossip dislikes • demanding people (other than the family he works for), being a part of drama (even though he'll gladly relish in watching and listening to it), weaponized incompetence, milk chocolate strengths • piano (secretly, of course), plumbing, carpentry, self-defense, no fear of heights weaknesses • Alenko sibs (often does his best to cater to all their needs), fresh desserts and bakery items, laundry (is unfortunately not as skilled), cooking (not as advanced as he would like for his age) dreams • To maybe not be forever attached to his job, create his legacy and lineage fears • not living up to his family name, failing his job so terribly that he's fired, breaking hearts overall personality • Cary is a man who grew up in the realm of always being silent and never answering unless spoken to. He comes from a family that has been in the area of servitude for many years, and he doesn't quite know anything else. While he is often not seen or heard, Cary is polite when addressed at work or outside. He doesn't often speak in full sentences, but can when needed. A dedicated person to his craft, there are times he daydreams what his life would be like outside of his work. Cary doesn't hate his work, but there are times he wonders where he'd be without the attachment. He's a man who keeps secrets, only spilling when needed. His loyalty is unwavering, for the most part, but won't lie when police are involved. He'd rather be kicked out for telling the truth, as he believes he has decent morals.
the history
father • Matthew, 62, Butler mother • Viola, 60, Housekeeper siblings • -- --, 25 -- --, 30 -- --, 32 important people • Jason Kai Alenko Jana Lumi Alenko HARLOW FREYA ALENKO Wendell Henry Alenko hometown • Brussels, Belgium overall history • Cary, the oldest of the Davies siblings – was born into the traditional family of servitude. No one truly knows which generation started it all, Cary grew up knowing he would be working for one family and their immediate until the end of time, pretty much. He learned quite quickly when to be a child and not to be one, up until he was of age to work full-time.
He learned a lot of his skills from watching his grandfather and father. How to polish silver, how to set up the dining room, and other tasks that the Alenko family required. Unfortunately, the ability to create crisp corners or remove stains was something he was never able to pick up. Much to Cary’s dismay.
The Davies family remained in Brussels until Jason and Jana Alenko moved to a place called Hickstead. While the move was quite a surprise to most, the staff seemed to know something just from the silent conversations and whispers. But being well trained, Cary kept quiet – despite the info creating a wave of curiosity.
Cary remained in the household full time, watching the children grow up and the fights that ensued between all three. Despite it all, Cary does have a soft spot for all of them – even if he sometimes helps them hide from each other. Or help with pranks. He serves as their confidant when needed and keeps their secrets locked away. However, he fears something will bust the seam at some point.
As he watched the children grow, he picked up a few interests of theirs. Mainly as a conversation topic if they come to find him or request him. Cary has secretly been paying attention to Wendell’s piano lessons, often taking a quick play when he’s able. Though often denies trying anything when the young boy throws some suspicion his way.
Finding that he was getting a bit...bored being cooped up in the main house, Cary requested to transfer some hours to their new hotel in the city. It was surprisingly approved, and Cary has been enjoying the change of pace. He still caters to the main family when needed but is finding that the hotel work keeps him a bit more entertained than he thought.
