life did get in the way, that was for sure but nik wouldn't change a thing. his girls and faye were his life and he'd give up his job before he ever gave up them. that being said, he did love the job he had and he did his best to try and do his job well and be the best he could at home too but if he was going to fail at home, then his job would be the one he'd give up. it was just one of those things. "not so much life but two toddlers who wake up on the wrong side of the bed." he said with a chuckle as he shook the hand and he nodded. "great to meet you shannon." he nodded to brook as he saw him coming over to join them and he couldn't help but be glad to see his right hand man. it sure made the job easier having someone he could trust to handle things when he wasn't there.
he looked down as he felt the dog start to sniff his leg and he smiled a little. "he's welcome to suss us out when he'd like." he said with a grin. he loved dogs, really most animals and he was glad to have one in the station, even if was only going to be some of the time. "nice to meet you to tobi." he said as he looked down at the dog one last time before he looked back to his fellow officers. "well we'll just have to meet him another day." he said with a smile as he turned into his office and he took the moment to set his coffee down and fling his jacket over the back of his chair before he settled into it. "so i'll show you to your desk in a moment and i'll find some money in the budget to get some things for tobi to." he said as he rested his arms on the table lightly.
nik was running late. it wasn't a normal occurrence but of course today was the day they were expecting a new officer and k9 and of course that was the day that nothing had gone right at home. alexis had woken up on the wrong side of the bed, brylee, normally an almost angel of a baby, had followed suit and started to play up while they'd been trying to feed her breakfast. so here he was, rushing into the office with his jacket in hand, porridge stains on his shoulder and a large coffee mug from home in his hand and he was sure he could feel his collar wasn't quite right. he just had to hope that the new officer could understand life with children, if not, he'd soon learn around this station. their job was important but their families came first.
as he walked into the waiting room his phone started to ring with the stations ringtone and he could only assume that they were calling to ask him where he was. he'd forgotten to ring to let them know he'd be late. it was a textbook case of what not do to this morning. it was then he spotted the officed and the dog in the waiting room and he breathed an almost sigh of relief. "are you waiting on me?" he asked as he dropped his jacket over the crook of his left arm and he held out his hand in greeting. "i'm nik. station chief." he said as he glanced down at the dog and he smiled. "sorry i'm late." he said before looking back at the officer. "shall we?" he said as he motioned to the officed behind the desk to open the door so they could go through into the station.
