Aspen grinned as his two best friends finally arrived. “I’m glad you decided to show up before the tide swallowed the beach,” Aspen teased. Even though Aspen had a full-time job, Danny and Everett had more on their plates for scheduling. Aspen didn’t know if it was the faces he had seen on his friends the past few times he saw them, but he figured it was about time to enjoy nature—Ocean water and shitting in the grass.
“Well, let’s head out before the bugs get too aggressive.” He buckled his pack around his waist and headed to the hidden trailhead. “Let’s not talk about work,” he started. “Let’s start with some good news, yeah? Anything exciting? As long as there aren’t any babies out of wedlock,” Aspen added, with a tease. Knowing full well that it didn’t bother him if that was the case.
Aspen made sure he had everything he needed for the trek out today. He had some time off, as well as his friends Danny and Evrett. The weather had been kind enough lately that the trio were able to enjoy a backpacking overnight camping trip together. It wasn’t anything too harsh – as Aspen knew Danny and Evrett most likely needed something a bit lighter. While they were strong hikers, they didn’t have all the time in the world like Aspen did.
After double-checking, he made his way to the start of a hidden beach path – where they all agreed to meet. Aspen knew there was a cabin out that way, but nothing hi-tech. It was shelter, but there was limited power. Mainly some solar-powered lights, but no outlets. Bunks if needed, but Aspen would happily sleep outside if the wind kept calm. The cabin wasn’t too much of a hike, but it was enough for them to hike everything in. It sat overlooking the beach, with a small path down to the sand. A perfect spot for those who want to risk a swim without clothing during the slow time.
He sent a text and remained in his truck as he waited for the rest of his group to show up, excited for the start of another solid season of fun.

face claim• Callum Turner
identifying features• Aspen stands tall and sturdy at 6-2", like his namesake. A chiseled face, with sometimes a boyish smile and adventurous eyes. Fit, but limber - Aspen takes good care of his body, often as prep for his job. He prefers to look like he could handle a long hike, leaving no surprises - unlike a few of his coworkers. A boy next door type, Aspen is in casual clothes, especially jeans and a t-shirt while not in uniform. Rarely is he ever in a formal outfit, unless he's backup vocals or sax to his sister.
the personality
likes • white water kayaking, high diving, camping, being near the ocean, rock climbing, playing the saxophone, lounge singing dislikes • the smell of cigarettes, overcooked food (especially seafood and steak), people that don't know what a trashcan is, black coffee strengths • knowledge of local ecology, public speaking, fluent in Spanish, French, Italian, and A/BSL, reapplies sunscreen like a boss, swimming, physical boating (raft, canoe, kayak) weaknesses • getting enough sleep (early riser, late to bed), likes to push his limits, long-distance running, commitment (one nasty breakup kind of ruined the idea) dreams • to inspire at least a few people to get outside, move his parents to England, see more of his nieces and nephews fears • watching the coastline dwindle, having a boring death, not living to his fullest overall personality • A go-lucky kind of dude, people could see Aspen as someone who doesn't have a problem in the world. Always on the go, or hiding away to watch the wildlife. The only time someone can see Aspen be a somewhat serious figurehead is when he's at work as a Ranger. His dentist is convinced that the teeth grinding issue worsens when Aspen witnesses someone drop trash and not pick it up. But, for the most part - he's friendly and social. Always looking for a new thing to experience. A free spirit, but willing to be tethered down for the right people.
the history
father • Darren, 56 - lobsterman mother • Layla, 54 - jazz singer and teacher siblings • Charlotte, 29 - sister, freelance lounge singer - vocal teacher Jeffrey, 34 - fraternal brother, lobsterman important people • Tiana, 6 - niece Bowie + Danielle, 9 - nephew + niece hometown • Bass Harbor, Maine overall history • Aspen Jay Green, a name very fitting for a young boy who loves nature, sings like a bird and causes a bit of envy. Aspen grew up in Maine in a family that valued nature and self-expression. His father, a rough-around-the-edge lobsterman, and a mother who enchanted people with her vocals.
At some point in his life, Aspen seemed to be destined to follow one of the paths life gave him. With his brother, he accompanied his father and crew on the lobster boat. Braving the harsh waters of the Atlantic and bringing home some good cash. But Aspen found himself wanting more than just lobstering. The coast of Maine had a lot to offer as a source of entertainment. Watching the tide, poking at tidepools, and wildlife galore.
Aspen hadn’t heard about park rangers too much in detail until the family took a trip to Yellowstone. He was attached to every single word of the ranger that was their tour guide, sparking a goal to fill his junior ranger book with as many stamps and stickers as possible. Aspen managed to reach this goal, even if it took him into his adult life.
He attended the University of Maine, graduating with a bachelor’s in marine science – and later from the University of Guam for his master’s in biology. Aspen moved around a bit, sticking to the coastline of the United States, and on occasion islands. A good chunk of his late twenties was traveling and working where he could.
After a bit of a nasty breakup, Aspen returned home to re-collect himself. He took a break from the demands of his science job – throwing himself into his musical side. It took a year for him to get back on track and out of his slump.
Aspen didn’t have to think too hard about his next move, as his sister Charlotte decided to attend a music master’s program in England. Something she had been saving up for. Aspen pretty much voluntold Charlotte that he would be joining her, something that she wasn’t exactly surprised by.
The siblings landed across the pond in the summer of 2022. Charlotte finished her master’s degree and sings at weddings, and events, or does her shows with her lounge band. Aspen will sometimes join her if he has the time. It didn’t take him long to find work, something he had been enjoying quite a bit after the break he had.
While not pestering his sister or educating people about tidepools, Aspen has been enjoying his free time traveling through the UK and other countries, mainly for personal adventures or expanding his knowledge.
