Dani slung the beach bag over her shoulder as she headed out of her dorm room, saying a quick goodbye to her dog as she did. She still didn't know how she had gotten away with hiding a dog in her room for so long. It wasn't exactly like she hid him. She was discreet about the times she took him outside and off campus but she was still fairly certain a few staff members had seen her leaving with him. She wasn't concerned about any of the students seeing him since half were to scared to get on the wrong side of her and the company she kept. They always came in handy, she could look out for herself - she always had, but back up was always welcomed.
She pulled her beanie down further onto her head when the cool autumn wind hit her face as she stepped out of the dorm building. She'd arranged to meet Maverick at the beach to eat pizza and drink alcohol - two of her favourite things, however she didn't own a car so she was doing the twenty minute journey on foot but she didn't mind. If it wasn't for the bag, she would have probably jogged there. Dani slipped her earbuds under her hat, into her ears and pressed play on her phone. Music would make the walk more bearable.
Reaching the beach, she looked around the car park to see if anyone else had decided to do an evening beach visit but it was deserted. Perfect. She wasn't in the mood to get dirty looks for drinking out in public. She walked onto the sand and found a nice spot before pulling out a blanket from the bag and laying it on the ground. Mav had questioned the idea but she wanted to be comfy and not get sand everywhere. She would probably be doing cartwheels and rolling around in the sand after a few drinks but sober dani had higher standards. She dumped the bag down on one of the corners then sat down to wait for Mav.
he pulled his car into the beach carpark just after when he'd agreed to meet dani there. he'd brought the alchol and the pizza's were sitting safe on the chair next to him. he didn't plan on driving home, he'd brought his car so they could use his lights so they could see on the beach when the overhead lights turned off. there was no point in sitting in the cark. plus it would also give them somewhere to retreat to if the wind got too bad or if it started raining. contrary to popular belief, he did have the ability to plan ahead.
he grabbed the bag with the bottles of the alcohol he'd brought with him from the floor of his passenger seat and with his other hand he grabbed the two pizza's. he'd gone with a cheese and a pepperoni, classics but goodies. the variety on the alcohol was a little more though. there was vodka, whiskey and some sort of other fruity mix he'd seen at the liquor store that had seemed like something dani might like, so he'd grabbed it all. the best way to not feel whatever you were feeling was drinking, or so it was working for him so far.
he walked over to where she was sitting on the sand and he leaned down to press something of a noisy kiss onto the top of her head in greeting. "oi oi." he said with a grin as he carefully sat down on the blanket she'd laid out, still not game to drop onto anything heavy since jace had rebroken two of his ribs not too many days ago. he set the pizzas down and the drinks down too. "so how many brownie points does this win me?" he said with a grin as he grabbed the bottle of whiskey and he cracked the top, sipping it straight from the bottle.
The brunette pulled out her phone and scrolled through the different social media apps while she waited for Maverick to arrive. She half jumped at the feeling of something on top of her head and glanced up, smiling when she realised it was Mav. "oi oi." She eyed the bag and boxes in his arms and watched him put them down. "so how many brownie points does this win me?" She flipped open the pizza boxes and grinned. ”many many brownie points.” She picked up a slice of the cheese and took a bite, savouring the flavour. ” soo good.” She looked at Mav and lifted a brow as he drank from the whiskey bottle. ”No mixer?” She half smirked. Using her free hand, she reached into the bag for the fruity liquor, pulling it out in one motion before twisting off the cap and taking a sip.
