Ila gave a light smile, “Yes yes we do spend quite a bit of time here.” She spoke adjusting the leashes in her hand. She wasn't worried about them running away, they were very well-behaved dogs but for them to come into the pet store they had to be leashed and that was just fine by her. When he spoke again Ila nodded, she knew there were quite a few cats and kittens here, she had seen a few at the clinic over the past couple days, it was one of the reasons she had come here was to see how many had found homes and how they were adjusting and doing. “Oh, today is all about the dogs we need to restock on some of their favorite things and they always leave with a new toy or two when we come here, guess you could say they are a little spoiled. “She looked down at her dogs with a smile, they were very much like her children, if they could come, they were with her no ifs ands or buts. “You better jump on getting one of these kittens they are a great group and stinking cute if I do say so myself, they all have wonderful personalities too, anyone would be lucky to have one.” She smiled and shifted the basket, “I have been pretty good just busy at work finally have some me time now, this is Sparrow and Finch, Sparrow is my three-legged dog I was telling you about and Finch is the one I was in the process of adopting last time we talked he is officially all mine and he is adjusting very well to having a wheelchair to zoom around in.” She smiled, “so what about you what have you been up too? If you want, we can walk over to where the kittens are, and you can start looking these two won't hurt a fly and they are just happy to be out and about believe it or not I'm happy to be out and relaxing versus racing around the clinic with what feels like my head chopped off.” Ila gave a light laugh and looked to Jamie.
Ila was just getting back from an early morning call, it seemed when the weather changed the animals became more prone to accidents. Pulling into a parking spot she grabbed her coffee and headed back into the clinic, trading boots for her sneakers, she reput her hair up on a messy bun and headed to her desk to set her cup down and look over the files that were on her desk for her up coming patients. Ila was informed that the Intern that would be helping her today was here and waiting. Ila smiled she knew schedules had been shifted so she was sure that Natalie was a little bummed because she wouldn’t be helping in surgery but she tended to keep this day fun and relaxed and what better way then to get to snuggle ten adorable lab puppies who were coming in for their first set of shots, followed by some kittens as the next set of patients. Ila walked into the brake room and gave a smile, “good morning you must be Natalie I’m Dr. James but just call me Ila, are you ready to get started? Our first appointment is ten adorable lab puppies.” Ila gave a smile and shifted the file in her hand waiting for Natalie.
To say she had been busy was a flat out understatement. It seemed as the weather warmed and then cooled again the more calls for injuries they received at the vet clinic. Finally she had a few days to herself and she was going to take full advantage of it. Except for that darn internal clock of hers not letting her sleep past a certain time. So she found herself in her favorite spot in the living room with her cup of tea, watching Sparrow and Finch zoom around. The young setter mix had made a great adjustment to his new wheels and he was like a whole new dog and he was able to get around ok with out the wheelchair but Ila always made sure to help him up the stairs and back down as well as lifting him up onto the furniture. She giggled as the two disappeared around the corner and came back around, it was part of the morning routine and they could make a full circle around from the living room through the kitchen and back again. Ila stood and went and placed her mug and plate into the sink before heading upstairs to change so she could head out for the day. Ila laid out a white long sleeve shirt and a suede skirt with tall white socks and a pair of fashion boots. Heading into the bathroom she went over to her vanity and pulled the chair out setting to work on her hair and finally applying a very light touch of makeup. She quickly changed and put a plaid scarf around her neck and zipped the boots up before heading down the stairs. She grabbed her purse and Finch and Sparrows leash clipping them to their collars before heading out the door. With Finch and Sparrow situated in the truck she hopped in and drove to the pet store. Today was all about the dogs, she needed to restock on a few of their favorite things, that and she wanted to see how the cats and kittens were doing, hopefully by this time a few had been adopted. The bell chimed as the trio walked in, grabbing a basket she headed over to the toys. A voice caught her attention and she looked over to see Jamie she gave him a smile. “What are the odds?” She spoke with a light laugh, “did you get a kitten yet or still looking?” She spoke again noting he was looking at cat toys, Sparrow and Finch looked at the man before settling in next to ilas feet.
Ila watched as she put the dog down he stood on all fours before lifting the one. Hmm she thought, “alrighty then let’s get a weight, I’m glad to hear that you didn’t see anything to obvious and just taking a glance at him standing then lifting the paw I don’t see anything to obvious yet either.” Ila wrote the dogs weight down and brought them back into a room. She listened to his heart, chest, checked his temp and then took a feel of his body all the way down to the paw of question. She squeezed it and felt but nothing felt broken, standing she looked to the women. “ Well nothing feels broken so I would say he has sprained it and may have also bruised the tissue, so a deep bruise that we can’t see, I would still like to take an xray to see how bad it is.” She told the women, “either way he will be going home with some pain medication , a splint and strict instructions for rest for the next few weeks, he shouldn’t be playing or jumping and leashed walked until he is starting to use it more.” She gave a smile and wrote some more things down in the dogs chart, “ alright kiddo should we go get an xray of that leg for mom? My techs are really nice.” She spoke to the dog.
Ila yawned and sat up in her bed, giving her three legged baby a loving scratch. “Better get the day started before I’m late.” She smiled at Sparrow and headed into the bathroom to get ready to head into the office. With her hair braided and a pair of scrubs on she grabbed her tennis shoes and headed out the door. The coffee pot was already brewing her coffee, she headed to the back door and let Sparrow out, pouring the coffee in her travel mug she packed her lunch and Sparrows breakfast, letting the dog in she grabbed the bagel that was on the counter and her keys. Grabbing Sparrows leash she opened the door to the garage and loaded the dog and everything into her truck before taking a bit of her breakfast and shutting and locking the door to the house. A short drive later and she was pulling up to the clinic, clipping the leash to Sparrow she grabbed her bag and coffee and headed in. Sparrow went right under Ilas desk and laid down in her bed, Ila opened the container with the dogs fresh dog food and set it down so she could eat. “be good little one I have to go and see my first patient.” Patting the dogs head Ila grabbed the file and headed out. She saw a younger lab on the women’s lap and gave a friendly smile. “hello I’m Ila and you must be Beth and this here must be mister Dash.” She spoke, looking at the dog on the women’s lap, “is he able to stand so we can get a weight on him?” She questioned.

hometown • Savanah Georgia overall history • the day Ila was born was one of the worse dads for Ilas father. Ilas mother up and left the day after she was born leaving him to take care of the child. Her father gave her everything and took great care of her. Ila was helping around the farm by the tender age of 3.5 and also received her first horse then. By the time she was a teen she knew the ins and outs of the farm was training and showing for her father but she wanted something more. So after she graduated high school she decided to go to college in Nashville to become a vet.
Unfortunately this is where everything went horrible wrong. She met a guy and everything started off great until they moved in together. He started drinking heavily and would verbally abuse her eventually it escalated into physical abuse. This went on for a year before it was finally the final straw and she called the police. He was arrested and her father drove up to help her. Slowly ila began to heal and her dad felt comfortable enough to return to home. Ila finished her studies and was getting ready to head home when she got the call her father had passed away in a tornado warned storm. Ila returned home to settle everything on the farm and decided she wanted to move away for a fresh start.
