RIDING LESSONS INFORMATION ,
In addition to the shows, we also conduct riding lessons of all disciplines. The riding lessons provide experience to the horse and rider which then allow skill points to be earned, offering the possibility of increasing your horses skill points by partaking in lessons. There is, naturally, a downside. These lessons can also cause a skill point to be deducted from your horse's attributes depending on how well the lesson goes.
Once you have signed up to your chosen discipline and the sign up has been confirmed, the instructor will post the lesson thread and a staff member will roll a dice. The dice roll will decide on whether the lesson runs smoothly, or not so smoothly, and ultimately decide the consequence of the thread.
Odd numbers (1,3,5) - result in a bad lesson - minus a skill point
Even numbers (2,4,6) - result in a good lesson - plus a skill point
The contents of the lesson are entirely your design. If it goes poorly, it could simply be a few poles down, or confusion between horse and rider aids, or even a fall. The only thing you cannot decide is whether the lesson goes well or not well. The lessons are split between individual or group classes, and which one you pick will make a difference.
Individual lessons - 2 skills points available
Group lessons - 1 skill point available
With individual lessons being more 1 on 1, 2 skill points are available, whereas with group lessons having a more split focus, it's just the 1 point. Don't forget however that this could mean the possibility of losing 2 skill points if your private lesson goes wrong!
Once the lesson has been completed, it's up to you to decide on what skill point is increased or decreased, and you have the following options to choose from, as per the show sign up sheet right here:
Scope - the horses' ability to clear the jumps.
Agility - the horses' speed, balance and precision.
Courage - the horses' bravery when facing uninviting jumps.
( rules and extra info )
001. Lessons can either take place as an individual or group lesson. Individual lessons are also referred to as 'private' lessons, and will just be your character and the instructor.
002. It is the instructor's responsibility to set up the lesson thread once either a group lesson is full and ready to begin, or an individual signs up for a private lesson. The dice roll will happen once the instructor posts the thread, before the candidate has posted.
003. There is no word count for lessons, post as short or as long as you like.
004. The lesson threads are designed to be short and sweet, therefore you we only require a minimum of 2 posts from each participant (so 2 for each student and 2 for the instructor, whether it's a private or group class). If you want to continue on past 2 posts each, then by all means go for it! Just be aware that the instructor may have several lesson threads happening at once.
005. You have 2 weeks to complete the threads (unless there are extenuating circumstances like RPers away from keyboard etc). After this time, if the minimum requirement hasn't been met, the skill points will not be received and the thread will be moved to archives.
006. To avoid a rush of lessons for the instructors, there will be only a few slots in bi-weekly availability. It's up to the instructor how many they are willing to offer as they will need to set up the threads and be available to post etc. Don't overload yourselves! You are more than welcome to only offer one individual and one group slot for each two weeks. If this is too much, we will lengthen it to one month.
007. The skills points are only available for the horse used in the lesson and can't be transferred.
008. As the RPer, it's your decision as to which skill point/s is added or deducted.
009. The dice roll will also be conducted by an impartial staff member using a virtual and unbiased dice roller, as with show posts, to confirm it is entirely random.
010. Once the thread is complete, please DM on Discord or PM on the site a staff member so that they can lock the thread to confirm it's finished, and can add or deduct your chosen skill point.
011. INSTRUCTORS you do not need to be an expert in your chosen field as the RPer, don't worry any the specifics or about googling things, just have fun with it, and be vague or simple or whatever you want to do. Nobody is going to judge or mark your work, this is just for fun and the possibility of a skill point!
