she really did think it was adorable that zeke and claire seemed to gravitate towards one and other. there were dozens of other children they could be playing with right now in the house and they were focusing on each other. she thought it was cute but she also couldn't help but ge glad that maya wasn't running around with one of the children at the party, because she had no doubt that leo would sit a kid down of any age and lecture him about staying away from his baby girl. the thought made her chuckle and she nodded over at lily as she picked up the platters. "probably, i started around their age." she said with a flush of red to her cheeks and a laugh. "i'm also going to start a book, take bets on how long it'll take them to get married." she was teasing but she did know it was a possibility. there were plenty of people who married their childhood sweethearts.
once she'd deposited the food she'd brought out of the kitchen she left lily and luke at the bbq because it looked like they'd enjoy a moment alone, well that was until leo started to kick off about the chef. she was actually really proud of how long he'd lasted, normally he'd have tried to take over from the start but he'd left it alone for a good while. she turned to look at chance and she tried to hold back a smile. she then looked past him to logan and she held her hands out to motion to chance. "when, when did your sweet boy turn into a glorious smart mouth." she said as she broke into a smile and she reached out to run her hand over chance's hair lightly. "your last name is shining through." which of course wasn't a bad thing, it meant he would fit in with the rest of their brood as they grew up and their own mouths started working properly. she wasn't looking forward to that day because most of their children were miniatures of their parents. she glanced over at leo after a moment, waiting till it seemed like he was losing the battle before she held up her empty hand like there was a wine glass in it. "leo, my darling husband, i'm awful thirsty but my hand is empty? do you know how to fix this?" she said with the sweetest smile she could muster as she looked at him.
bella smiled as she watched claire and zeke dash through the kitchen. the chaos was spread from the inside to the outside as family and friend alike had gathered to celebrate rose and flick's birthday. the noise was almost deafening, the children running around like they were crazy and fun was being had almost everywhere and it was amazing. she'd never thought she'd be able to live in a chaotic house but she wouldn't change it for the world. she'd married leo and gained his family as her own and she loved it. she'd grown up with her sister and she loved her but it had just been the two of them, there was none of the chaos her children had and she was glad for her children had it, it was a fun way to grow up it seemed.
"do you think those two will ever stop chasing each other?" bella said with a smile as she opened another bag of crisps and dumped them into a bowl. bella was in charge of emptying the snacks and refilling the bowls that were getting eaten as if food was going out of fashion. she picked up the bowls she'd filled and stacked them as carefully as she could before she followed lily out into the garden. setting the bowls down on the table she smiled as little hands reached for the food. she helped ollie grab some lollies and sent him on his way with a kiss to his head as she walked over to where the grown ups of the party had found refuge. "oh ye people of little faith." she said as she settled down onto the chair leo had vacated when he'd gone to get his beer.
bella pulled her hair up into a messy ponytail as she got out of the truck. she smiled to herself as she listened to her husband and his sister talk to each other. she did trust leo to behave himself at least a little bit today, he was aware of the reason they were there. although the boys had made it perfectly clear that they didn't really want to be. she hadn't seen the damage to the barn yet but as they walked up to it she couldn't help but be shocked by it. she wasn't sure what she'd been expecting but it surprised her all the same, and how easily it could have happened to the barn she called home.
she laughed a little as she heard leo tease james and she looked at him and smiled. "or perhaps lily and i'll do the heavy lifting while you sit two around and whine?" she said as she nudged leo as she walked past him and over to the tent they had set up over what had been the tack room. she crouched down to sift through the ash and dirt to pick up a tarnished bit piece and she brushed it off with her fingers as a two familiar faces entered the tent. "of course." she said with a friendly smile down to the girl. "you can help us keep those boys in line." she said as she motioned to leo, james and chris. "they might need some telling off when they slack."
