"Why such a hurry?" He cast her a side glance as he continued his walk through the high street, weaving in and out of passers by, letting his pace even out now he had put enough distance between him and his previous targets. "Nosey little thing aren't you?" He countered. He caught her snort and let his attention focus on her whilst keeping his eyes forward as he moved along the pavement. The girl had spiked his suspicion from the moment she had started to follow him. He felt the hand in his pocket and used her own momentary distraction to slip his hand into her pocket and taking something of hers. He saw the smirk and held back his own at the little triumph she probably felt after snatching the small stash of real and decoy notes he kept in his pocket. His actual stash was tucked safely in the bumbag he had strapped across his body and under the zip of his hoodie. "I think you'll find you might need to go again a little sooner than that." He shrugged and lifted a brow. "Guess we'll see won't we." He said before using a crowd of teenagers to disappear into, quickening his pace until he finally reached the spot he'd parked his motorbike. The girl was good but she was naïve to think he didn't know what he was doing, this wasn't his first rodeo.
"Park bench?" He bit back a smirk at her snarky response and shrugged his shoulders. "I was thinking more like the beach. . but I guess the parks closer." He assumed. "There's a hostel a few miles out, probably your best bet." He dipped his head a little before nodding, appreciating a proper answer. "Best get my walking shoes on then." He said as he stood up, grabbing his jacket from the back of the chair and pulling it on in one smooth motion. "Thanks for the beer." He said, walking past the bar towards the exit. He wasn't sure what he expected his sister to be like but she was definitely as feisty as Kenzie had described and getting to know her was going to be harder than he'd initially thought.

FAMILY
FATHER: miguel isaac romero MOTHER: unknown OTHER HALF: single SIBLINGS:MONIQUE ELSIE BRADLEE - half sister CHILDREN: none FRIENDS:
Noah's first memories of his childhood were happy. He had two parents and an older sister that loved to help look after him. Although the rest are pretty hazy, he has a strong memory of his sister trying to comfort him after being stung by a wasp when he was two. They'd been playing in the yard one sunny afternoon while the adults were busy and when nobody came when he began to cry, the older toddler did her best to calm him down. Not long after that day, his sister became a ghost in his life. Shipped off to a children's home.
Before Noah had came along, his mother had been a single mother to his older sister - knocked up from a one night stand. She hadn't wanted kids in the first place, let alone a girl. The woman had it in her head that boys were the easier gender to raise but she kept the baby regardless. When his father came along a year or so later, his mother was drawn in by him and after a few months, she was pregnant again. The woman wasn't exactly over the moon but she was happy enough to have help this time around and pleased to find out she was having a boy.
His father wasn't the best man, yes he was great with his mother and good with children but he didn't make the best choice in a career. Instead of getting a real job, he turned to crime with his friends. Anything from armed robbery to home invasions. His crimes eventually caught up to him and he was arrested and sent down for five years. Hearing the news, his mother broke down at the thought of raising two children alone and began to neglect noah and his sister until their nursery intervened. Social services became involved and tried to take both children away from her but the woman fought for him and happily sent his sister away.
His mother managed another two years with him - during which she constantly struggled to manage her own emotions and often lashed out verbally when he cried or had a tantrum which led to noah becoming quite quiet and reserved. Seeing the change in his personality and appearance, the nursery once again stepped in and social services removed him from the home and placed him into a foster home at four where he became obsessed with magic - specifically card tricks. One of his foster parents was a kids entertainer who enjoyed performing card and sleight of hand tricks. Noah found the transition into a foster family quite easy and settled in quickly with the family, spending most of his time - when he wasn't at primary school - trying to learn everything his foster dad could teach him.
His life hit a curve at eight when his dad was released from prison, royally pissed to find his son in foster care and not with his mother where he had left him. He didn't bother going down the legal route, and after tracking him down, forced the boy to pack up his things and leave the place he had called home for the last four years. The shell he had started to come out of reappeared and he went back into himself. He'd only been two the last time he had seen the man. He was basically a stranger. It took him a few months but he eventually warmed up to him and the memories of the short happy childhood came flooding back.
While his dad was trying to keep his nose clean for the sake of his son with a proper job, noah continued his hobby of magic, scouring youtube and books for every tutorial possible until he mastered each trick he was learning. He made the mistake of showing his dad his talents who began using them for his own gain. He helped Noah learn how to pickpocket on him until he was competent enough to do it in the real world. His father would target specific houses while Noah was at school and get a sense of their typical routine. Once he knew when the marks would be out of the house, he had Noah pickpocket their keys then would steal what he could without drawing too much attention.
The pair continued to work together for the next couple of years until a job went wrong. Miguel got greedy and decided to rob a house that he knew had millions of pounds worth of jewellery inside but they'd have to hit it at night and a 10yr old Noah would have to help him. They managed to get inside without a fuss and everything was going fine until the homeowners - who were supposed to be out of town caught them. Noah tried to run for it when the husband tried to grab him, causing his father to attack the man. He hadn't see that side of his father before and it scared the shit out of him. Even now he could still see his father pummelling the guy with a crowbar. During the fight the wife had phones the police and upon hearing the sirens, his dad escaped whilst he refused to go with him - fear rooting him to the spot. Noah ended up ratting his father out, telling the police where they lived so they could arrest him. Miguel was sent down again, receiving a 15yr sentence and Noah was put back into the foster system.
He bounced from foster home to foster home due to acting out as he struggled managing his emotions. When he hit twelve, he ended up in a children's home after no more foster families would take him. He spent the next six years learning to survive in a place where everyone was fighting for everything. He got in with an older group of teens who brought out his confidence and ultimately helped him deal with the shit he'd been through. To make some cash, he and his new friends would spend their time after school pickpocketing locals and stealing things from supermarkets. At eighteen, he was swiftly kicked out of the home with what little money/belongings he had and the file the care system had on him. Upon reading it, he found a name and a picture of himself with a girl, his older sister. No forwarding address. Alone, with no way of finding her, he drifted through the country, hopping from town to town using his sleight of hand and card tricks to put on shows, conning bystanders whilst simultaneously pickpocketing them.
He made his way down to London, figuring unsuspecting tourists would be more of an easy target and he was right. The place was rife with gullible people and they made it too easy. When he wasn't conning tourists, he was targeting the richer areas of London, using stolen credit/debit cards to withdraw cash and take loans out, enabling him to buy swankier clothes to fit in with the wealthy, broadening his cons. He often spent time in hotel bars, watching the men that came in - particularly ones with wedding rings on. Ones who were having affairs. He'd take incriminating photos and blackmail the men for money in return for the pictures. 99% of the time they always paid.
Once he had enough spare cash, he searched the internet for a local PI who could try and help him find his sister, which led him to Hickstead.
"Oooh you did good," He smiling, tipping his head in acknowledgement at Kenzie’s comment about the muffins. Sweet treats were almost always guaranteed to make people happy, and if it didn’t, they weren’t somebody he wanted to be associated with. "You look like shit," He gave her a look when she brought up his rough appearance anyway. He was in need of a decent shower and a shave. "Straight to business is it? No, oh hey how you doing Kenz? No no, just 'tell me what you've got'." He shrugged his shoulders lazily. ”I need to go home and acquire enough money so I can afford to go wherever you send me.” He reasoned before rolling his eyes in defeat as she grumbled about him in russian. ”Hi, how are you Kenz? How’s the boyfriend? School? Life story?” He muttered the last bit as she slid the folder over, taking hold of it before she could snatch it back in annoyance.
"You picked good, kid. She lives and works in this town - are you sure you didn't know what before giving me all this work?" He lifted a brow in surprise and shook his head. ”Shit seriously? Nah I just googled the closest PI’s to London and your name popped up. . and you just so happened to be the cheapest.” He grinned. He flicked through the folder for a moment before listening to Kenzie as she listed off everything she’d found out. "Am I good, or am I good." He held his hands up and mock bowed down to her. ”Damn. . good? Try brilliant.” He was only expecting a name if he was lucky, not her whole life story. ”The hell did you find all that out?” He asked curiously. He took a sip of his coffee and looked back down at the page were a picture of his sister sat. He’d definitely got his looks from his dads side of the family but there was something about her eyes that looked familiar.
"Not at all, a crowded bar is a quiet night." He tried to fight a smirk at the red heads sarcastic reply but found himself struggling. Okay, he could have asked a better question instead of stating the obvious. He’d been there for most of the evening and the bar was overrun at certain times. Mainly when the music was shite and only a select few enjoyed it enough to stay on the dancefloor. ”Right.” He nodded, biting back the sarcastic response he usually would have fired back. He didn’t want to piss her off, not yet anyway. "You scared to go home, or just homeless?" He snorted and half smirked. ”Homeless actually. .decided to stick around town for a little longer but the hotel’s fully booked tonight. Know any other places around here that’ll take anyone this late?” He asked, knowing the answer would probably be no. He’d already come to the conclusion he’d be sleeping on the beach since it was too late to find somebody to go home with since the club had practically cleared out. Maybe he’d get lucky again and find an unlocked car somewhere.
Once Noah had gotten far enough away, he glanced down into his shoulder bag to check his findings, smirking to himself when he saw the stash he’d acquired. Enough to get him by for the next few days at least. "Hey," The voice made him glance behind briefly to see who’d caught up with him. He didn’t recognise the raven haired girl so he knew he hadn’t targeted her at the show, he’d have definitely remembered. "I want to play your card game!” He smiled as he continued to walk, glancing behind at her again. ”I have somewhere to be. .another time maybe. .next show will be in a few days. .” He fobbed her off as he continued to weave his way in and out of people, putting as much distance between himself and the unsuspecting marks. "Come on, give me a chance - I think I can beat you." He looked at the girl with a smirk when she didn’t give up. ”Well we’ll see in a few days then won’t we.” He baited.
Noah walked down the street in the direction of the town square. He was in need of a quick fix of cash so he was hoping to draw in a crowd and slip a few watches or wallets from people and take them to the pawn shop. He found a decent spot in front of a few popular shops with plenty of foot traffic and pulled out a deck of cards as he caught sight of a family heading his way. He put on his showman smile and stepped forward as they went to pass by "Pick a card, any card, bet I can tell you what it is." He said, spreading the deck out for one of the kids to take.
The youngest kid took the bait and he began to wow them with a few different tricks. As he pulled in a crowd, he put the cards away and moved his sleight of hand on to people's personal items. He would take someone's wallet, show them he had it then take their watch or bracelet whilst they were distracted. Once he'd racked up a few, he excused himself and disappeared into the crowd, occasionally bumping into people to take their purse or wallets. He did have a conscious when it came to pick-pocketing - he would never take a phone. He knew they were full of memories and he knew how he would feel himself if he lost his own - not that he had many.
Noah sat at the end of the bar draining the last of his beer as he watched the red head wipe down the bar. He was aware he may have looked like a bit of a stalker, having been sat there for most of the night, slowly nursing three beers for the last few hours but it had been way too loud to even try and make a conversation during the woman's shift. Closing was the only time he figured he'd be able to say something. He didn't know what exactly or if he even would. He'd gone to the club just to see her. After opening the file a few days ago and reading about her, he needed a few days to wrap his head around everything.
He'd know he'd had a sister for a few years now but finally finding her well, he hadn't quite expected it to happen. What was he even supposed to say to her. Hey, i'm your brother, long time no see? She'd probably get him kicked out. No, he needed to try and get to know her first. .figure out whether she would even be interested in learning of his existence. He'd got by in life so far on his own, he could still do it. But he didn't want to. As Monique neared his side of the bar, he placed down his empty bottle with a with a small smile. "Thanks" He had seen a few drunken idiots kicking off earlier at her and how she'd reacted so he figured playing extra nice may go in his favour. "Busy shift?" He asked, making a terrible attempt at conversation.
Noah pushed open the door to the popular coffee shop and moved over to join the back of the line, stifling a yawn and running a hand over his face in a pathetic attempt to wake himself up. He'd had a rough night sleep in the back of a random truck bed he'd found parked in a lot in town, followed by a rude awakening from an angry owner of said truck. He'd had to grab his duffel and high tail it out quickly before the guy could get his hands on him. He was running low on cash and couldn't afford to splash out on another hotel room for the night. What he really needed to do was go home to London for a weekend to rinse his usual suspects at the high end bars but Kenzie had promised she was close to cracking his case which made it harder for him to leave.
He had a quick glance around the shop, spotting the raven haired girl at one of the tables draining her coffee at an alarming rate. When it was his turn to order, he paid for two coffees and muffins before heading over to the table, setting them down with a smile. "Morning, yes I look like shit, you don't have to tell me." He said, sitting down opposite her. His gaze moved to the brown folder on the table and his right eyebrow lifted in curiosity. "What did you find?" He asked.
