was she supposed to be at the university? no, she wasn't. but did she want to be at the school she was supposed to be at? absolutely not. she hadn't wanted to leave the house this morning, she'd been content just staying at home watching movies and talking to the friends she'd been forced to leave behind when they'd moved to this middle of nowhere town. as soon as she'd been dropped at the gates she'd waited until her mother had driven away and her brother had gone into the building before she'd high tailed it away from there and she'd gone looking for something to entertain her. she'd changed out of her school uniform, having packed casual clothes into her bag rather than her schoolwork so she'd changed into that at the local park. thank god for gross public toilets, it seemed they were good for something at least. she ruffled her hands through her hair, checking her face in the mirror before she walked out of the building and walked to the university to try and find some cute university boy to talk to.
when she got there, it wasn't long before she spotted a face she knew, a face she'd been warned to stay away from and a face that made her just the slightest bit curious. she knew his family too, who didn't? there was an energetic blonde boy in her school who seemed to have the intelligence of a three-month-old puppy and the energy to match, one who was just a year below her and then another in the year above her. she couldn't think of any of their names though, she just knew they were related because of gossip. she liked gossip, she partook in gossip but she wasn't stupid enough to believe something at face value, even she wasn't that dense. she fluffed her hair a litte as she crossed to where he was sitting and she couldn't help but smile as she came to stand next to where he was sitting. "so is it a scenery picture or something more sinister?" she asked, not sure what answer she was hoping for.

the history
father • William Nathaniel Roscoe , 38, bodyguard. mother • CATELINA MARGOT GLOVER , 38, large animal & exotic vet. siblings • tanner roscoe, 13, annoyance. important people • none. hometown • london, england. overall history • for all intense and purposes, blakely was born into a blessed life. she had two parents who wanted her, who doted on her and who gave her their devotion in many ways. of course she had to share the spotlight with her brother when he came along but she slowly adjusted to life with this strange new little person and eventually their family of four surged forward to meet the world. for years things seemed like they were perfect and the only things she had to worry about were her friends, playing the sports she loved and spending all her parents money on the perfect new thing she spotted every five minutes or so.
but it wasn't all like that, there was so much going on beneath the surface because she didn't see it or she chose not to. she didn't see the stress her parents went through. she knew her father got hurt but he always healed, he got better and he was their father again. she didn't see the time off, the money stress and the job worries her parents held because of it. she'd never thought she might lose her father because he always got better. she knows she might have deluded herself when she was younger but she never thought she'd lose either parent, even knowing their jobs had dangers.
so when her father was injured badly during one job she'd thought it would be the same. he'd be in hospital for a few days and then he'd come home. except this time it was different. she had to go see him in the hospital because her mother had wanted her children to say goodbye in case he died. she is still haunted by the image of him surrounded by tubes, machines and nurses with grave looks on their faces. they were lucky though, her father pulled through but their lives were still shattered.
her parents divorced and all of a sudden it was visitation and holidays, social workers talking to them about their parents and custody and needing to know how each of their parents was with them. at thirteen years old she found her sense of stability shattered. there were two homes, two parents and two families. they weren't a unit anymore. it was her mum and them and her dad and them. she hated it. she fought tooth and nail against visits, eventually refusing to go see her father because he was the reason they'd broken. as much as her mother tried to convince her it wasn't true, that's all she could think of.
then it got worse. her father got offered a new security contract in the city of hickstead and all of a sudden her mother was talking about how nice it would be for them to get some fresh air. that she could change jobs and take a slower position in the small town so they could be closer to their dad. tanner, the germ, had been all over it but blake had fought with everything she had to stay in her beloved city. she wanted to stay where she knew people, she knew what she was but she lost the fight and soon she was waving goodbye to the city she knew and saying hello to a town she hated from the moment she stepped foot into it.
she hasn't settled into town yet, she doesn't want to. she's fighting the routine of the place, refusing to join teams because she doesn't want anything that might convince her parents she's happy here. her one place where she doesn't think her existence is crumbling away is the stables of BA. it wasn't her regular barn in london but it was close enough, there was horses and there was familiarity so she spent every waking moment she could in the place, so much so that her mother arranged to by her a horse from a client. while she was overjoyed at the prospect, she made sure to keep telling her parents that horses travel well and when they move back to london, her mare can come with them. she's taking it one day at a time but she's in no way given up her mission to claw her way back to the sights and lights of london town.
