The cooler weather was making Dublin question how much work would end up doing I the winter. Granted, Blue Acres always needed work done – but winter there wasn’t anything to cut. A few fences and some other things here and there. He had considered getting a part time job at the hardware store, since he knew the people there. Some extra cash was never a bad thing.
Lunch break came as rain began pounding down on Hickstead. There was something about the rain that made the fall feel nice and cozy. It also made work a bit harder, as he wanted to take a nap with all the layers and three cups of tea.
Aofie had made bangers and mash, but that felt too heavy for lunch. Instead, Dublin packed a cup of ramen with a Waldorf salad sandwich. It was an odd combo, but it was food. Dublin made his way to the loft, where there were some remnants of folks having their lunch earlier.
Thankfully, there wasn’t a line for the kettle – so Dublin started some water, prepping his cup of noodles. Maybe he could sneak in a quick nap with the rain.
Oh what a day! Sofia knew that she had been a little distracted that morning, but she was doing her best to keep her head in the game and do her work dutifully, checking in with Naomi every now and then, to make sure that her boss didn't have anything that she needed done that wasn't in her inbox - the one on her desk or email. She looked at the single framed photo that was on her desk, the reason for her distraction.
When Kat had started school, the girl had been pleased as at punch and was excited to put her uniform on and head off to school. However, since the school year had started up again, Kat hadn't been wanting to go to school, and every morning was a fight to get the girl out the door. She turned away from the photo as she blew out a breath, and turned her attention back to the emails that she was working her way through.
She put the computer into sleep mode as she gathered her lunch, a wrap that Cara had dropped off earlier when she had brought lunch through to Naomi as well, and Sofia headed up to the loft, where she could make herself a nice calming cup of peppermint tea.
At the top of the stairs, she saw that there was already someone at the kettle and she walked over with a smile as she took a mug from the shelf and placed her tea bag inside it. "Is there enough water in there for me too?" She asked with a cheeky grin.
