brief history:
TRIGGER WARNING: ABUSIVE CHILDHOOD
Before August 2016
Dublin was born on November 25, in Tramore, Ireland. His childhood was far from a childhood of dreams. Instead, he was the baby of a drunken one night stand. At first, his parents were beautiful, loving, but then things went downhill after his mother learned of her brother’s success. She believed that her brother was rubbing his success in her face, causing a large rift between the two families—in the end, the parents not speaking for many years. Siobhan didn’t appreciate that her brother was lucky while she was still jobless and her husband, barely making enough for their family.
From the jealousy and weight of failure, his mother turned to the bottle when Dublin had turned five. During that time, he was always told mommy needed her alone time, and if he disturbed mom during that period, he would suffer a harsh punishment. Siobhan also banned anything nice, or something she figured her brother gave to his children. Her jealousy and hatred for him ran that deep.
Around the age of ten, his father suffered a fall at work making him addicted to pain killers. David’s growing addiction and Siobhan’s alcoholism mixed into a dangerous cocktail. Dublin was forced to find ways to keep away from his home as much as he could, attempting to save his skin. Of course, he would lie to his teachers and his friends that his home life was fine and that marks were from playing too rough with other kids and falling from trees.
Alana and Cara were born three years later, two months premature. At first, Siobhan had a sliver of love, giving a flame of hope to Dublin that his life would change for the better, but was he wrong. Three months after his sisters’ birth, Dublin was given the responsibilities of what his parents were supposed to do. Instead, they delved deeper into their addictions—once again forcing Dublin to take the reins of adulthood a lot earlier than a thirteen-year-old should have to.
Four years later, David and Siobhan were arrested at their home after a neighbor reported loud screams coming from the home. They were charged with child neglect and abuse, as well as possession of illegal substances.
August 2016
Dublin and his sisters were flown to Boston, MA to meet up with their only living relatives. To his surprise, his mother’s brother welcomed him with loving arms, despite years of no communication. It was odd, but he was grateful.
September 2016
Wanting a do-over in life, Dublin asked his cousin Aofie to move out to Hickstead with her. As much as he loved being in Boston, he believed moving out to England would allow him to explore a sense of freedom and give him time to explore what he wanted to do really. So, on Sept. 23rd, he flew out to England.
Dublin is now living with his cousin whom he hadn’t seen in many years. Like her mother, father, and brother—Aofie welcomed him after so long. He is now building up his portfolio hoping to get into a university for landscape sculpture and design. Due to his knowledge of the landscape business, Dublin was able to get a job working at a local landscape business after school. Cara and Alana are living comfortably in Boston, but will Skype and face time their brother when they can!

dislikes: alcohol and any forms of illegal substance
strengths:
Landscape art • A secret talent that he has hidden for a very long time. Growing up in Tramore, he had a large set of different views to draw from. When at work, he drew during breaks, honing his skills.
Landscaping • Having to be the bread maker of his family while his mother and father spent their every cent on booze, Dublin picked up the art of landscaping. He knows everything from building a deck to inserting a gorgeous brick walkway.
weaknesses: could be physical, mental, psychological, etc.
Diaper Changing • Well, Dublin can change a diaper, but he hates doing it. Despite his sharp look, he cannot stand the smell and look of a soiled diaper.
Music related talents • He always wanted to learn how to play some instrument, but due to his upbringing, he never had a chance to.
Riding a bike • Wasn’t allowed to have one so he never learned.
secrets: He has never watched any of the Harry Potter movies!! Well, the poor bloke wasn't raised with all the fancy things ye young folk grew up with.
fears: becoming an alcoholic, never getting into university
habits: takes a 5 mile run every other day, always walks or uses his long board (doesn't have his license in the UK yet), draws every day for practice
overall personality: Hard work and knowing how to survive is all Dublin knows. He has a rough presence, but that’s not because he wanted to—he was forced to. Growing up, Dublin was raised with no love or care. His parents were drunk bums hooked on any dope they could get their hands on, making him be the father to his twin sisters. Due to this, he has a hard time accepting that people are willing to love and care for him. He’s still in the mindset of being in survival mode and being alone.
Despite being 17, life has forced Dublin to be an age a lot older than he is. A few months after his sisters were born, he was in charge of bottle feeding them, changing their diapers, and overall the duties of a competent parent. His past gives him a strong, mature vibe, making a lot of people assume he’s a lot older than he is.
Dublin is also as straight edge as can be. He will never touch drugs or alcohol because he’s seen the damage it has done to his parents, and he has no desire of becoming the monsters they had become.

Dublin wasn’t working at the beach club today, which was odd. But his boss had sent him and a few other men to work on a house in the swanky residential area. The owner was redoing his whole pool area, which meant a new pool house, a new set of stonework and of course, new landscaping. Apparently, the man was impressed by the landscaping at the Beach Club and requested some of the best memes of the team.
The teen was surprised he was sent but was also happy he was. Dublin didn’t think he was exactly fit enough to be considered a professional, but he wasn't going to complain either. He would take on the job and hoped he’d learn a few more tricks in the landscaping business.
Since the job site was an hour from his home, Aofie had packed him a lunch the evening before which she didn’t have to do. But seeing it was her personality, Dublin wasn’t about to refuse to eat. Oh lord if he did that, Aofie would have him mounted on the wall so quick, and he no desire to be taxidermy! He had peaked in the well-insulated lunch bag to find Colcannon, which was mashed potatoes with cream, butter, and kale. A super loaded soda bread sandwich with beef, horseradish, mustard, tomato, onion and lettuce; some dill pickles; a large bottle of homemade lemonade; some bottles of cold water; his favorite, two slices of chocolate orange Guinness cake with two thick layers of cream cheese frosting; and a large thing of fruit salad for him and his peers. Yeah, the cake was going to go first.
His coworkers picked him up at an ungodly hour and drove to the site which was a swanky mansion. It was an older home with loads of character, something one would find in a book. The home was far from Dublin’s taste, but he wasn't about to criticize the man who was paying him.
A man approached the group id landscapers and led them to the work area. The pool was a large pool with some curves to it. Natural rocks lined some of the sides and the grotto with a waterfall. Dublin had seen some pools, but nothing like this one. He could have the pool, minus the fancy home.
Dublin had pulled out a lot the young plants which were a shame because a lot of them were still healthy and young. Luckily, they weren’t going to be thrown away. Most of them would be shuttled to a local nursery for other people to use. If Aofie had more land near her home, Dublin would’ve nabbed some of the bushes. So far the only thing she could do would be the beach grass and roses which weren’t a bad thing either. Hopefully, there was some left over indoor plants he could nab. He would pay for them, but those being free would be even better.
The plants the employer had ordered were mainly tropical plants like some of the lower palms and fruit trees that were local. He had a desire to have a small grove fruit grove near his pool in case his guests needed lemons for their drinks. Some could view that as lazy, while others viewed it as practical.
Lunch time finally rolled around, and sweat was pouring from Dublin’s face. The sun was pounding down, and shade was pretty limited. A lot of the workers had gone off to some of the diners, but Dublin stayed behind with his massive lunch box. He probably looked so odd with it, but oh well!
Aofie was a good cook, and sometimes provided sandwiches to his peers after Dublin had said some of them didn't eat at work. A few of them had commented on how kind she was and others had told me she was cute. Though, if she heard the sweet comments, Aofie would have most likely blushed and stuttered her words. Heh, Aofie dating one of the burly men from work would be interesting.
Dublin found a shady area, but there was another man there. He shrugged and sat down, his cooler making a loud thud. A towel wiped his brow to rid of the pooling sweat. “Quite a scorcher today, huh?” he smiled towards the other male. “Too bad we can’t jump into the pool.” If Dublin could, he would. After getting comfortable, he opened his massive cooler and took at the parchment wrapped sandwich that was almost as long as his forearm. The smell of the thinly sliced beef wafted up to his nose and Dublin felt himself drooling.
Fingers unwrapped the paper and took a large bite, the crunch of the bread, onions, and lettuce reverberated a bit. Oh, yeah, that was good.
