Danielle headed out of her dorm room after saying goodbye to the cute curled up ball of fluff on the end of her bed. The labradoodle was out for the count and would be for some time after the run they had been on this morning. There had finally been a break in the rain they’d had in the past few days so she had seized the opportunity – although she didn’t mind running in the rain, her dog had other ideas. The brunette shifted the tote on her shoulder as she locked the door behind her before walking towards the common room. She needed to finish an assignment for class but she was in desperate need of a change of scenery.
Staring at the same four walls was driving her insane but she knew if she went to hang out in one of her friend’s dorms, she would end up being distracted and the coursework would be forgotten. Reaching the lounge area, she moved over to one of the armchairs and sat down, placing her bag onto the table in front her and pulling out her laptop, opening it up on her lap. Sighing, she propped her feet up on the coffee table and began tapping her fingers against the keys.

Teddy was in shock that they had only been a few days into the new semester only for a teacher to turn around and give them a paper. At least it was creative writing, so it was about the importance and impact of comic books and graphic novels in the literature world. But still. Papers. They were the worst. Took up time and concentration, not to mention, another person to edit them. Given that outside of art, Teddy had the attention span of a gnat sometimes, he had to go somewhere serious to get his work done aka not his room. But the library had been oddly slammed and all the good parts were taken up, so he headed to the class halls to find a place to escape.
He had been lucky then, and had remained rooted to the spot since. He bit his lip, thinking his way through his thoughts and the point he wanted to make. It wasn't easy, mainly because he felt like people who thought the works of old authors like Jane Austen and William Faulkner would automatically turn up their noses at graphic novels, considering them for children when that really wasn't the case. There was no doubt in his mind that his professor would be just the same way. But he was growing tired of looking at that screen, his brain starting to run thin, and his chocolate eyes began to wander.
And just like that, another girl appeared. She didn't even seem to notice him as she selected a far more comfier chair and propped her feet up on the coffee table, her eyes already glued to her computer as she typed away. Teddy knew he shouldn't talk to her, she was working, and he should respect that, but his brain was dead, so he couldn't help but to comment, "One of your professors already through a paper your way too?" he asked now, "And here I thought Professor Brown was the only jerk to do such a thing."

After typing a decent intro to her assignment, Dani paused for a moment to plan her next move, absentmindedly pulling a piece of hair over her shoulder and twirling it around her finger. "One of your professors already through a paper your way too?" A voice broke through her own thoughts and brown eyes lifted from the screen, landing on the boy opposite her. He’d been so quiet she hadn’t even noticed him. "And here I thought Professor Brown was the only jerk to do such a thing." She half smirked and rolled her eyes. ”Yeah, Mr Nelson thinks our brains need exercising after half term. The 2 assignments he’d dished out before we finished for Easter clearly slipped his mind.” In all fairness, the tasks had been pretty easy in comparison to some of the curriculum on the course so she hadn’t minded. This new assignment however was proving difficult already, which wasn’t a good sign. She rested her head back against the armchair, her attention still on the male. ”I’m Dani. . what’re you studying then?”

It looked as if he had caught the girl off guard. Guess that's what he had gotten for being too stealthy when he sat down in this common area. Thankfully, she hardly looked perturbed by his question. If anything, dare he say that she might have welcomed it as a cute smirk danced across her lips and she rolled her eyes. Guess she was playing it cool and simply humoring him. That was no matter to Teddy though, talking to girls was his favorite pass time if they were willing to do so. The young man made a mental note to check himself though if she started to get bored with him, better to just peter off and leave her alone then force any more chatter.
"Yeah, Mr Nelson thinks our brains need exercising after half term. The 2 assignments he’d dished out before we finished for Easter clearly slipped his mind,” mystery girl commented now. Teddy himself couldn't help but to cringe, "A third assignment? That sounds like overkill to me." He was also certain that most of the student population would agree, "I don't think I've had the luxury to take a class with him though. I take it he's a professor to avoid then?" The name certainly wasn't part of the art department, the young man knew that for certain, so it wasn't too hard to avoid unless he was one of those dreaded required liberal arts classes that he had to take to be 'well rounded'.
And then he got a name to the face: Dani. Sweet, simple, and straight forward. A playful grin drew at his lips, the kinda of smile that often got him referred to as a human golden retriever, whatever that meant, "Teddy, pleasure to meet you, Dani." He replied, getting used to her name so he could commit it, "Art Student, with an independent study in comic design. Although I'm stuck taking an English class. So I've made it my mission to try and teach the old bat that graphic novels are indeed an English art form. It's been an uphill battle thus far when all what he wants to talk about is the Jane Austen and the like." Man, he was hogging up the conversation, "What do you major in? I can't say I've seen you before."

"A third assignment? That sounds like overkill to me. I don't think I've had the luxury to take a class with him though. I take it he's a professor to avoid then?" She smiled when the guy agreed with her. She wasn’t being overly sensitive on the matter then. ”Right!? Like we don’t have enough work to do already. He’s alright I suppose. . just likes to pile on the work. He’s one of the business studies professors.” She explained. She quirked a brow at the Cheshire cat smile that appeared to grow at the mention of her name. "Teddy, pleasure to meet you, Dani.” She returned the smile. ”Likewise Teddy.” She repeated, hoping to remember his name.

She smirked slightly and nodded. ”Yeah some of the teachers are definitely stuck in their old ways.” She agreed. "What do you major in? I can't say I've seen you before.” She shifted the laptop onto the arm of the chair, giving her space to curl her legs up on the seat to get into a more comfortable position. The guy gave off the vibe that she’d be chatting for a little bit longer. ”I’m just about to finish my A levels in Media & Business studies. . hoping to start my Marketing degree in September if I pass.”

At least she was still smiling at him and he hadn't quite warn out his welcome quite yet for crashing her studying session, "Business? Well then, guess I'm safe then. I'll still try and give the guy a wide berth though when I work on scheduling for the next semester." Teddy generally had been lucky about getting into the classes he wanted, but every once in a while, he had been slow and stuff filled up fast. It also wouldn't surprise him that his advisor would try and stick him in a business class just to get that 'liberal arts' exposure. The young man couldn't help but to like the way that his name sounded on Dani's lips, but Teddy wouldn't lie - he tended to be a sucker for mysterious girls saying his name. But his heart was otherwise preoccupied.
Chocolate eyes watched as a smirk danced across the young woman's face, and Teddy knew this conversation could go either way. It would seem though that she agreed with his thoughts on the teachers, "They defilingly are. Probably should have retired by now," he joked, "Although I do hear that there's a criminology professor that brings his dog to class." And apparently should not be trifled with, according to Aria Beck, and given her typical sour mood - that was saying something. He listened to Dani and nodded, "Ah well, considering your devoting your weekend morning to writing over here in the on the second wing, I think you're safe at passing." He assured her, "What made you pick business though?" She looked a few years younger than him, granted, most students were given Teddy's failure at college the first time around, but if she was eighteen, that would be impressive she already knew what she wanted to do with her life.

She smirked slightly and nodded. ”Yeah, avoid him if you can.” She agreed. "They defilingly are. Probably should have retired by now, although I do hear that there's a criminology professor that brings his dog to class." She grinned ”Wait seriously? That I have to see.” She loved dogs. She currently had her own living illegally in her dorm room. "Ah well, considering your devoting your weekend morning to writing over here in the on the second wing, I think you're safe at passing." She smiled, taking the praise. ”Thanks, hopefully that rings true” She’d never been the most academic growing up, considering the uproot of her life but she had managed to scrape by in her entrance tests and get into the campus. "What made you pick business though?" She shrugged her shoulders. ”It’s one of the majors I need to apply for the marketing course. . and I figured a career in the business department would make the most money.”

A chuckle escaped Teddy when the young woman seemed to light up at the idea of a professor having a dog attend class, "Yeah, seriously. My friend says the professor's a hard ass, so he probably needs the dog to balance out his personality." Teddy joked now, at least, that's how Aria Martin had described the situation to him. But given how prickly and OCD she could be, perhaps this was a rather biased opinion, "I think the guy teaches criminal justice or criminology, but I would think seeing a dog is worth sacrificing an elective to social sciences." Especially if it was merely an intro class, maybe it would end up being something the young man would do as well.
Chocolate brown eyes watched as a warm smile lighted up Danielle's face at the praise. Dang, she was actually kinda cute. If it weren't for Cressida 'Ida' Everdeen, Teddy was certain that he probably would have been rolling on smitten feelings now - and that was only after five minutes. He had to stop being such a sucker, it was ultimately his downfall, "Well, if it doesn't, you can blame me for jinxing you." He replied now, his lips pulling into an easy grin.
His next question seemed to prompt some thought, as he watched Danielle think over her life choices on a business major before she voiced her opinion: "It’s one of the majors I need to apply for the marketing course. . and I figured a career in the business department would make the most money.” Ah money. Teddy wasn't surprise, and he knew better than to judge on people's desires to want to earn cold hard cash upon graduating University. It was stupidly expensive, and he was lucky enough to have wealthy parents to foot the bill, especially since it took a while to find himself, "Ah. You at least have a passion for it though, yeah? My dad likes it cause he likes to socialize and win people over. Or at least, I'm pretty certain that's the case."

"Yeah, seriously. My friend says the professor's a hard ass, so he probably needs the dog to balance out his personality." She let out an unlady like snort. "Oh god really." She hated any teacher who was an asshole. "I think the guy teaches criminal justice or criminology, but I would think seeing a dog is worth sacrificing an elective to social sciences." She nodded. That would be why she had no idea who the guy was. "Sounds interesting but not for me." She smiled. Both classes sounded like they would put her to sleep. "Well, if it doesn't, you can blame me for jinxing you." She laughed and gave him a pointed look "Well now I know where to find you." She said, hinting to the room they were studying in. "Ah. You at least have a passion for it though, yeah? My dad likes it cause he likes to socialize and win people over. Or at least, I'm pretty certain that's the case." She absentmindedly ran a hand through her hair while she thought over his question. She hadn't even expected to get into college so business was the first logical course to go for. "Maybe? I mean I think the marketing side will be quite fun, it's creative and most companies use social media now so that part is easy enough."
