She had a good life there, it was quiet and full of wonder as she learned to navigate childhood and being a teenager. Her parents were stern and yet mostly supportive - even when they were arguing about with her about her future and what she was allowed to wear when going out clubbing. Knowing that there was more out there than just Hickstead, when Dia turned seventeen, she applied to every collage that she could in London and Greater London area, hoping to break free from her little town. When she got accepted to the University of East London, Dia was ecstatic and even her parents could not help but to brag about her to all of their friends and family. Granted, they thought she was going to become a doctor or a lawyer, and were soon appalled when she went into criminal justice instead. While at college, she met Magnus Perry; another student in her major who was the top of their class and also an egotistical prick, and yet, it was love at first sight. They challenged each other in class, and dominated each other in their dorm rooms. They had their fights and their messy break ups, but always got back with each other, much to the irk of Dia's parents. When Magnus graduated college, he went to work for the Metropolitan Police Department. Dia followed suit after graduating. She started out on the front lines, working with experienced officers, before becoming an indepentent beat officer. It was in this job that it became evident to Dia just how closed off Hickstead had felt from the world, it was also the first job where she realized that people said there was equality and respect in the job, it didn't really mean that there was. The Met was grueling work and her co-workers, mostly male, would take digs at her whenever they could to belittle her. She would complain to Magnus about it, but he just told her to tough it out. It was also during this time, that Mangus proposed to her and they got married. Only a year later did her daughter arrive. Deciding that she was tired of being a beat cop and wanted more regular hours in order to raise her daughter, Dia put in for a detective constable position, to which she was granted. She had hoped with the raise and evaluation in stature, that the office life would be better, but it turned out to be just as hostile. It only made Dia strong though, she went from porcelain to steel for a thick skin and made certain that if her quips wouldn't shut her coworkers up, that her work would do the talking. And it did, Dia had a knack for solving crimes. She played the long game and it made her dangerous. She made a name for herself alongside Magnus. As the years went by, and she grew older, and their daughter took up more of their time as well as work, Dia started to notice a change in Magnus. He grew distant with her, less interested in her both in work and at home, hardly would have sex with her. They would fight on occasion, and they both did their best to protect their daughter from ever witnessing it. However, one night, everything came to a head. Dia and her daughter when to surprise Magnus at work with some fresh dinner, as he was working late into the night. When they found him though, he wasn't working per say as more to spending quality time with the unit secretary, Carole - who was far younger than Dia. She was outraged, and actually ripped a phone out of its jack to hurl at Magnus. Thankfully, he didn't press charges, but they went through an ugly divorce with Dia being victorious in full custody of their daughter. Deciding there was nothing she wanted in London - and also the fact that she couldn't bare to show her face at the office and work peacefully with Magnus and Carole, retreated back to Hickstead with her tail between her legs to her parents - who had never liked Magnus in the first place. Thankfully, despite her phone throwing incident, the Hickstead Police Department was willing to take her own. Dia has found herself in a wayward standstill with her life since then though, trying to find a house for her and her daughter to live in so they could move out of her parents' cottage and adjusting to small life once more. the role player alias • Forever age • oldddd other characters • a whole herd |
