Darkside knew something was up and it had him more than a little bit excited from the moment he was off loaded and brought into a new strange yard. There were so many things to check out and poke, including the young man that was in charge of him for the time being. He moved at a brisk trot, bouncing along and made a right old fuss about entering the yard with new horses to meet.
He was naturally a little bit more fidgety - there was a whole lot of new things and he wanted to know everything and investigate it all at his own pace, but alas he couldn't; he had to stand nice in the cross ties and look about. He whinnied loudly at other horses that he could see, and returned calls to other horses he couldn't.
He moved about as the groom slid off his blanket, feeling the cool air against his warm body. His attention turned to the feeling of a brush on his back and another set of hands on his other side, both curious but also relaxing into the grooming session. His upper lip wiggled as a ticklish spot on his withers was itched, causing the grooms to laugh. He at least stood still after that, letting them groom him until his coat was glossy and his mane was nice and straight. They cleaned out his hooves and oiled them.
He pawed the ground eager to get out and about, but he would have to wait a little bit longer before he was allowed to go out.
He was finally here! Janie was excited, albeit feeling a bit unprepared. Darth had come a day earlier, which was a surprise. But after jostling for permission, Janie was ready. She had gotten his space and area all gussied up but knew he would be in quarantine for a smidge before entering a full routine.
Knowing that he would be groomed first, Janie took the chance to set up her personal tack – so she wasn’t exactly breathing down anyone’s neck. So when she got the word, he was finished, she had to hold back a squeal. It had taken a lot of work to save up for her own horse.
Trying to reign in her excitement, Janie walked over and saw the handsome fellow. He looked as beautiful as the day she first landed eyes on him. Janie didn’t know how she got him as quickly as she did, as the yard had said that there were a lot of people looking at him. But some force out there made it all work.
“Hi, Darth!” Janie smiled. She thankfully had some carrots saved up, so she reached out a hand with two in it. “I’m so happy he made it here a-okay.”

Darkside's attention was pulled to a new voice, one that he was not entirely familiar with but was more than happy to give his attention to. Especially at the offering of carrots. Reaching forward, he took his time eating, ears at times flicking to a new sound somewhere off in the distance where he couldn't see it. Once the carrots were gone, he gently pushed at her hand, looking for more of that wonderful treat. Was there more?
Finding nothing more on offer, he tilted his head to the side, sticking his tongue out. People found that cute right? He'd done it before and there was always an extra treat from a pocket, and if he did it now he was almost certain that he was going to get extras. He liked extras. All the more for him.
She gave him a sympathetic look and rubbed the horse’s nose. “Sorry bud, that’s all I have now.” He was extremely cute though, pulling that move. If she didn’t have to pay for his feed for the next few days, she would’ve spent all the money on treats for Darth.
A hand slipped out the phone in her pocket and snapped a pic she would be sending to Oliver and Molly. “You’re such a handsome boy,” Janie smiled, and rubbed Darth’s nose again, before moving to scritch his cheeks. Almost curious to see how she could go.
