“America, huh? That’s quite a trip! I’m sure those students of yours will be playing the straw game to make sure they can go. I’m sure the cost is not an easy thing to cover,” Holland commented. Something that Kim nodded in agreement. Kim knew the cost of travel for anything was expensive. There were times he and Holland had to scrape up a few more pounds to make sure they could travel to Japan for a martial arts competition and convention. They hadn’t been able to take a trip since then, something Kim has been a bit bummed about. But he thankfully had such amazing neighbors to help when he and Holland could afford a weekend trip.
“Wow, it sounds like you got Ivan just in time then! Yeah, business has been amazing. Mutton was a big selling point, and Taylor from up the way has spun a lot of our fiber. Baby season is just around the corner and easter prep is about to get crazy. The local vet program has reached out recently, to see if we can get some clinical stuff done here. So maybe we’ll get a few students wanting to help, too.” The family farm tended to always have a good streak. There never seemed to be a bad year. There were times when it was tough, mainly from an illness or something – but it was probably because the parents made sure to never be fully financially dependent on the flock. If Kim learned anything, was proper financial care.
"Rachel? Oh yes. She was actually helping the day Ivan had his accident. I don't think I've ever seen her so scared. I'm glad to hear he's turned into a fine gentleman. And somehow survive your lot." Kim, know the feeling. Not necessarily with children, but about his parents. It was probably why he insisted on them being close by. So if mom or dad fell, they were two long steps away.
Kim grabbed a pitcher of ice water and poured three glasses before sitting down. "He did, didn't he? Did it all himself! I'm pretty sure your mom is envious since I've seen her try to come in and use. Even if to heat a kettle."
"I'm working on the porch for her soon enough, so that should keep her happy until Dad decides he needs to renovate something by himself," Kim laughed. "Mom and Dad are doing well! They're enjoying their retirement. Missing all the grandbabies and great-grandbabies. They whine to me that they aren't visited enough, so maybe pass that along…" It was hard now, with everyone being older and having their own lives. Kim also missed his nieces and nephews, texting them on occasion. Though, they much preferred Max. Probably because he wasn't tied down or anything. But Kim was the uncle they could rely on if anything were to happen that required urgency. And tried his best to catch all of the shows and competitions.
"No, no - sit and look pretty," Holland said, washing his hands. Everything was placed into the specialty pot and the stove turned on. After cleaning up, Holland joined Kim and John at the table. "How's the business going? Prepping for any upcoming competitions? And Marie?"
Kim nodded. “Yeah, Holland knows everyone’s movements,” he laughed. "I’m sure he’s already started lunch prep. Cooking for guests is more of his forte.” Kim really didn’t know how he lucked out on such an amazing partner. Granted, the meeting the way they did – it would be hard to ignore their attraction.
“At least you attempt to visit. I don’t even remember the last time I saw Max.” Out of the two younger brothers, John was easier to pin down. Mainly due to the fact he had a wife and kids. Kim was easy because he was still taking care of the parents. They would’ve been happy if Kim hadn’t taken the farm, but being secluded was nice. The sounds of the creek and nature were easier than the sounds of a car racing on the pavement.
“I hear you have a new PA?” Kim started, leading John into the freshly renovated kitchen. It was a gift from Kim to Holland. Took him a year, but it is done now. Holland, as Kim predicted, was whipping up something more than what Kim was going to offer.
“Ah, John! Hope you’re hungry and staying for a while. I’m making mille-feuille nabe,” Holland greeted. If his hands weren’t wrist deep in thinly sliced beef and napa cabbage, a bear hug would have happened.

FACE CLAIM: open, needs to look related to Timothée Chalamet AGE:23, 00/00/1999 + 25, 00/00/1997 JOB: Open INFO: 23 YO has been taken, please look at @jude for more info!
These are the children Kim had with a woman in his early twenties. It was a tumultuous relationship, and it all came to a screeching halt when the mother left. The kiddos were three and two when they were uprooted from Hickstead. Kim remembers his kids, but the kids won't have memories of him.
Their life is completely open after they moved. What brings them to Hickstead, and also if they know of Kim - is up to the player!
It can be two girls, two boys, or a boy or girl as siblings. The FCS can also be of mixed race, as long as the siblings end up looking related.
What time was it now? Kim really needed to do better when at the forge, but with the weather being cooler, it was hard to ignore the flame. He was working on a new blade, as a hunting knife of sorts. Plus, gifts for upcoming birthdays and what not. He had to be a cool uncle somehow!
It wasn't until Holland told him his brother, John, had pulled up - that Kim kind of broke out of his cleaning mood. Kim gave his partner a smile and a nod. Thanking him.
Holland hadn't gone out per se but saw Kim's brother pull up from the chicken coop. Kim wiped his hands and went to find John who was easy to spot.
"Giving them words of encouragement for the birthing season?" he smiled. Out of the brothers, John came off a bit more dapper. Kim could look dressed, but it was rare he was ever out of his farm clothes.
"I'm about to start lunch prep. What are you hungry for?"

the appearance
face claim• Jon Hamm
identifying features• Kim stands at 6'-1" with stern feautures. He looks a lot older than he is, mainly from years of labor and being in front of the forge. His shoulders are broad, giving him a menacing appearance. Kim is often dressed up in stained shirts and pants but loves a well-tailored suit or tux when the occasion calls for it. Despite years of trying, Kim can't ever get smooth hands. It's something his family often teases him about, but his partner loves it.
the personality
likes • sheep, survival camping, blacksmithing, hot springs, cloudless evenings (love seeing the stars and moon), farm life, martial arts dislikes • hairless animals (likes fluff too much), cigarette smoke, high-strung people, his family and friends getting hurt strengths • farm life, blacksmithing, shearing, competitive sheep herding weaknesses • advanced horse riding (more of a casual trail rider), mingling with new people, his family (will drop anything to help them) dreams • Meet his children and have them in his life, live his life fully fears • losing his partner, his brothers and family changing their mind on his sexuality overall personality • Kim, out of the three Ryan brothers, is the more shy and reserved one. Being a farm boy, hard work and those close to him were all his company. He can be boisterous around his loved ones but doesn't quite know what to do with himself when around people he doesn't know. It took the poor man a few years to feel comfortable around his partner's family.
Despite his shyness, Kim can rage like no other. Years of hard work have made him quite a strong fellow. one of the reasons he does so well in martial arts. So don't try to attack him, as there's a chance you'd leave with more damage.
Kim adores his family. While there are times of teasing and banter, there's a lot of love and care. Arguments were never left unsolved.
the history
father • Connor Ryan, 83, Retired Sheep Farmer mother • Ionna Ryan, 81, Retired Sheep Farmer and now hobby gardener siblings • JOHN EOIN RYAN MAX BENJAMIN RYAN important people • Holland -- -- 45, partner -- -- -- ,child, 23 -- -- --,child, 25 Marie Iylah Ryan , sister in law RILEY JAMES RYAN , niece BENJAMIN CHARLIE RYAN , nephew JAKE MICHEAL RYAN , nephew hometown • Hickstead, UK overall history •Kim, as the oldest, was the trial run of children. Connor and Ionna joke about all the mistakes made during the pregnancy, especially with them just going willy-nilly of believing they’d be having a baby girl. Despite the ultrasound and the techs offering to show the gender, the Ryan parents guffawed at it. In the end, the little girl that was supposed to be named Kimberly Constance Ryan became Kim Conor Ryan. As so-called punishment for their lack of preparedness, Kim was born in a leap year. Something that the Ryan parents would have to constantly explain to those that asked.
His parents raised Kim and his brothers in a strict but loving household. Discipline was taught without fear tactics or the need for humiliation. While John and Max were a bit more rambunctious in interests and personality, Kim was more of an observer. He would of course wrestle and throw dirt with his brothers, he found their constant antics somewhat distracting. The most notorious being a whoopie cushion that was forgotten about in the hay pile, and out of fear – Kim got headbutted by a ram. He got a few stitches and his brothers got poop duty and early morning lamb feeding for two weeks.
As the boys got older, John and Max began to gravitate from farm life. John became a champion equestrian, with Max going off and doing his own thing. It left Kim to help his parents at the farm, something he knew he would be doing for a while. He hadn’t expected to take over until he realized a higher education didn’t quite fit him. The so-called normal world was too fast-paced for Kim’s liking, finding comfort in farm life.
When Kim was twenty, he began finding himself in a weird state of figuring out who he was. He was finding that he was seeing men differently than women, and with the fear of being disowned – Kim suppressed these feelings to a dangerous level. It led to a one-night stand, which became a tumultuous relationship that lasted longer than healthy. Two children were born, but then whisked away when the baby mama left without a word.
Kim was left heartbroken, sad that his children were taken so quickly. He refused to date anyone until his late twenties, finally realizing that he was gay. His parents were the first to be told, as Kim wanted to the hardest to be over with. Then, his brothers. Everyone that loved and cared for him didn’t give a rat’s ass about whom he loved, allowing Kim to be freer. The jokes changed, but the love didn’t.
Holland wasn’t introduced into Kim’s life until he became interested in martial arts. The two were paired up for a sparing, and one could say it was love at a first takedown. But not ones to rush, Kim and Holland were friends for many years. They hadn’t become official until Kim was 36, and Holland 34. The two have become inseparable, becoming the guncles to various nephews and nieces.
Kim has retired his parents early, taking over the farm completely. He and Holland live together in a home they built together from scratch, with Ionna and Connor living in a renovated Ryan family home on the same plot of the land that has grown over time.
He dreams of seeing his children again but is happy to spoil his brother’s children and grandchildren. Kim is quite content with his life now. There are times he wondered what would happen if he had changed paths, but he finds that dwelling on that does the heart no good.
