aughter escaped Diana at the young man's question, "I like to think it's true. But it's only true if you believe it." For someone who looked at least nearly fifteen years younger than her, her new acquaintance certainly seemed to act older. As Hudson returned his pleasantries, Diana's blue eyes caught how he averted his own when she started stretching. So much for showing off the goods. Still, the woman could not help but to tease him, "You don't have to look away. It's okay to admire." At this rate, she might have a game on her hands: how long does it take to make Hudson Easton blush, "And I'm not a teacher. I work for the township."
The continued their stretching now, focusing on their own goals and points of stiffness. Apparently his was his calves, while hers was her full body. After all, Diana wanted to be limber enough for what was coming up, "Hmmm?" Blue eyes snapped to him once more, mulling over his question, "Strength comes in many forms. Yoga relies on core the most, and I believe that is our greatest weakness in humans. That, and strength of mind if you find it boring." Her tone was still teasing though, after all, Diana was here to enjoy herself, not work and lecture. She cocked her head when Hudson mentioned that he had a showing and his image clicked into place, "Ah. Now I see why you look familiar to me. You're a housing agent. No wonder you need some yoga. And perhaps, meditation."
At least he was willing to follow her lead and hardly question her, as they moved into pressing their hands towards the skies before bending over. She allowed herself some slack as she hovered above her knees before gently lifting her spine back up, stacking vertebrae to repeat, "Same. Although I moved to London for university and work." Granted, now she was back, "Did you ever leave? Or did you stay here for university as well." Diana wouldn't be surprised if that was the case - after all, real estate tended to be a family business and they could teach you everything. And if she remembered his picture correctly, he was an Easton, which was its own small dynasty - at least in the Hickstead and Willow Bridge market.

The last year has dealt a rough blow to Daughter. She and Diana walked in on her father cheating at the police station, and she witnessed her mom's anger full hand as she ripped a heavy duty office phone out of the jack/wall in order to lob it at him. Needless to say, it wasn't pretty. After some ugly words, and lawyers getting involved, Daughter sided with Diana for the start of separation/divorce despite her father wanting her to remain with him, or at least express full joint custody.
Now, Daughter has been whisked away from the city life of London - where she probably had it all, cool friends, the happy family, no farm animals - to her mother's home town of Hickstead, England which is the exact opposite of London. To make matters worse, she and Diana have been shoved into her grandparents quaint but picturesque country house so its very full and never a dull moment since her grandparents are always around living the retirement life. Hey, at least its very in for the cottage core lifestyle taking over IG.
Daughter is likely unhappy that its become clear that she's remaining in Hickstead for the remainder of her school years - she had hoped that they would move back to London (after all, its a big enough city) but her fate was sealed with being enrolled into Secondary School at Willow Bridge city. How Daughter is adapting is up to you. I want them to have the typical highs and lows of a mother/daughter relationship. Please feel free to add whatever snazz you may like to the character. Personality is completely up to you and how she chooses to navigate the small world of Hickstead and Secondary School.

I'm pretty flexible about plots so if you have any ideas, I'm all ears. His personality and background can be up to you. 'Eric' just needs to be able to go toe to toe with Diana who is sometimes a lovable softy and other times, an angry hard ass. I like the idea of them meeting up on a case that crosses both Hickstead and Willow Bridge City territory. Maybe they get partnered up, so they get to know each other.
Sparks don't need to fly immediately, and I am perfectly fine with some up and downs on their way to becoming an item. Given everything she's been through (and maybe he's had a rough go at a relationship also), maybe they try to fight it - neither one cares to be a rebound even though they have no issues using other people as such ^^ We can probably go somewhere Hallmark-y with it also. IDK. Just looking for some drama and fluff wrapped up in a box.
Diana could tell, merely by watching, that behind all the grace and beauty that was Roxanne Reed, that she was utterly tired. The woman wasn't entirely surprised, she remembered that her friend always seemed engulfed by her work - and that was okay, as long as she didn't let it eat her alive. For now though, Diana thought it best to let it be. After all, Roxy was in her thirties, she knew what she could and could not handle as far as pushing against the current, Diana was merely there to be a welcome distraction and a pause in the moment. Blue eyes watched as the other blonde slid into the chair now, gracefully as always, "You know, I'm sure if you're sneaky, you can get away with slipping your feet out of those pumps," Diana said teasingly now, a smile sitting on her lips.
It wasn't surprising when Roxy merely waved off her comment about how busy she gets, "I always have time for you." The woman informed her matter-o-factly, to which Diana replied, "Ah, well, I appreciate it. I'm surrounded mostly by men during the workday and a temperamental teenager at home," she gave pause before adding with a smile, "So my Roxy Reed time always is a breath of fresh air." The waiter seemed to be on point with their conversation, for as the older woman informed her friend of what they were having, the bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries seemed to appear before them like magic. Laughter escaped her at Roxy's comment about having it sorted, "I try."
Now it felt like they could officially unwind. The bottle was popped, chilled smoke pouring out of it before it was being poured into flutes. Diana gave her thanks, and the waiter quickly disappeared as she and Roxy got down to business - or at least, catching up, "Hey, small fry? I was born and raised here, you know," she replied with a grin, "And cheers to you as well." With that, she gently clinked her flute against the other before having a good drink, "Small fry life aside, it seems to be doing you some good getting away from all that London traffic. I know it has for me at least."

Diana smiled at her boss's London comment and how it related to his home work ethic, "Ah well, I believe metropolitan work gets the best of us all as far as bringing the work home." London had never been an idiliyic life for the older woman, going from beat cop to detective, no matter what, there was always something going on. As a woman, Diana always felt like she had something to prove to the higher ups and her colleagues as well. Now here in Hickstead, it didn't feel that way at all. Yes, sometimes work still bothered her, but she was doing much better at creating the force field that kept all of her worries at work - work, and all of her worries at home - well, home.
With permission to pet Brook's dog now, Diana bent down and let his German Shepherd sniff her hand before moving to give the dog a good pet on the head followed by a scratch behind the ear, "So soft," she murmured, "Your dad takes good care of you, Zeus." With that done, she pushed herself back up to her feet now as the young man answered her question, "Ah, nothing like a good beer with some friends," Diana said with a smile now, "I feel like I may have to do that too." As for her plans, she mulled them over for a bit, "I'll probably have to take my daughter to London to spend time with her father, let her see her friends again. She hasn't exactly been pleased with our move here - which, I can understand her point of view. I just...don't think she understands my view, per say." Diana merely shrugged, "Not the end of the world though."
Blue eyes looked around the farmer's market for a moment before glancing back to Brooke now, "Which way were you two walking, Brook? I can walk with you. Don't mean to keep you hostage here to this one particular spot."

iana supposed she wasn't surprised to hear the young man say that he had never done this before in his life - typically, there always appeared to be a shortage of men in yoga classes despite the activity being good for all body types and genders, "It's okay. We all start somewhere. If you continue it for a few months, I am sure you'll be a pro in no time." Or at least, that was the belief. The older woman supposed it took a little longer for everything to really click with her, but she had a lot of anger pent up inside, and this had been one activity that she turned to to try and defuse it.
"Ah, pleasure to meet you Hudson," Diana said with a smile now, getting some quick warm up stretching in while he explained his situation. Blue eyes watched him curiously as he scrambled up to join her, and it had been so adorable. Thankfully, she managed to keep her laughter internal though, "Ah. I understand the sitting all day. My job can fall victim to that if I don't need to leave the building or I have a paperwork day." She supposed almost everyone was guilty of sitting too long though, even those who do not work in an office. Stretching out her triceps now, Diana merely cocked her head, "Hm? Me? Oh, I believe a few years now. I really picked it up perhaps a year, year an a half ago?"
Once it felt like she was good and limber, she looked back to Hudson who gave her the go ahead to start. At his assistance that she should kick his butt, Diana did laugh, "Oh. We shall see. I can't kick your butt too much, you have to try and walk tomorrow yes? Besides, I wouldn't want you running away from the gym screaming bloody murder." She thought it over for a moment before saying, "We shall do a simple sun salutation three times. It contains 12 poses. For now, we will do prayer to upward salute and then bend over to do to standing forward bend. Just follow me, and make sure to breathe in and out at 3 or 4 second intervals." And with that, Diana launched into the movements, slowly for Hudson's benefit, as blue eyes kept a careful watch on him, "So are you native to Hickstead?" His accent made it sound like, but she knew it wasn't always the best way to judge.
His question oddly prompted a wave of emotion, "Uh, yeah, it is actually." Diana replied now, staring at it. Funny enough, she hadn't even given the tree any thought until Lindsay had brought it up, and all of the memories came flooding back. That tree had always been a constant on the property, and now, it would be gone. The woman wondered how her parents might feel about it, but knowing them, she never thought of them of being the sentimental type, just the practical. Diana's mind must have wandered since she almost didn't register that the handsome man brought up saving the wood, "Oh? If you can, I wouldn't mind that. Just a few pieces for one of those epoxy wood tables that seem to have flooded the internet." While she knew her parents wouldn't want it, Diana wouldn't mind having a table created for her new home, whereever that might be, when she and Josie would move out.
Blue eyes watched Lindsay as he talked now, launching into how he had gotten into the business and growing up. She found herself utterly mesmerized, but not by his story, but simply by him. While Diana knew utterly well that today wouldn't turn into anything, she vowed to herself that she would get a one on one night with this man. A smile graced her lips now, "I suppose not many people can say that, but I'm sure its always a good conversational topic," she said now, "You said you only got into it a few years ago? Does this mean you were doing other things?" Diana knew she was getting into prying territory, but it was hard not to do so when she had the property to herself, although, perhaps he had other appointments as well, "Sorry. I suppose that's none of my business. I should let you get to work." Her gaze went back to the tree one last time, "Do you think you'll be doing most of the work today? Or will you need to come back with your crew?" And Diana could not but hope it would be the latter, for they could exchange numbers.

Her blue eyes remained on Seth Cannon the whole time as she talked. For talking a big game, it would seem that he no longer cared for what she had to say nor wish to deal with the situation which he found himself in. Although, as time went on, Diana's trained eyes began to notice certain things which would suggest that something was not right. His hands were shaking as he retreated to the corner to sit down in, unfocused on her and barely registering her words. Truth be told, the few times he managed to look at her, one would have thought that she was talking to him in pig latin by the look in his eyes.
"Seth, is everything okay?" she asked now, continuing to watch his rattling hands as he grasped at his jeans. Diana knew the answer, everything was not okay. The woman had hoped by asking Seth Cannon a question, it might cause him to snap back to reality. But that was not the case, as instead of answering her questions, he merely pulled up his knees and rested his head against them, the man's skin looking like a pale shade of green. He continued to zone out to a plain that she herself was not on, "Shit," she muttered, realizing now what was happening as a sound escaped Seth.
For a second, she thought she heard the door click, but Diana waved her hand, signaling to the one-way window that nobody was to come in. That was the last thing she needed, and it was certainly the last thing that Seth needed. There was a chance that she would not be getting answers today, and if she didn't, she might not get them at all. As soon as he was on the street, he may disappear again and Diana couldn't have that happen. But she also felt loathed to put him into holding, even if technically, she had enough to warrant a 24 hour hold. Carefully, she got up now and walked over to him. The woman made certain to make her movements non threatening and purposely slow.
She sank down next to him, "Seth...Seth, can you hear me? You're having a panic attack." Blue eyes simply watched him, "I want you to concentrate on the sound of my voice, and your breathing. That is all that matters right now." Gently, Diana slowly placed the palm of her hand on his arm, and simply let it rest, "Can you breathe with me? Breathe in for four seconds, hold for three, and blow out for four."

hile it had taken her a long time to figure out the whole work-life balance, Diana Perry was fairly certain she finally had it figured out. It only took a divorce, anger management, and a move back to her hometown to figure out. The woman finally realized that when she was off the clock, the work stayed at work unless she was called in. Home was her happy place, and when her parents got on her nerves too much, then the gym was her happy place. Which was where she was heading now after a snippy argument with her mom over some passive aggressive comment. Even though the divorce was still ongoing, her parents just kept on wanting to remind her on how they never liked Magnus in the first place.
Thankfully, they knew well enough to not bring up such topics when Josie was home, but when she was out and about exploring the town, everything was fair game. Old Diana probably would have come out swinging with all the brutality that she could think of, but not New Diana. Okay, well New Diana still had to get the final word in, but at least New Diana also knew now when to remove herself from the situation and to get out of the tiny countryside cottage. The size of her childhood home was really starting to sink in though, and the woman knew in the months to come, she was going to have to find a means of moving out. Playing fair in the divorce meant that she would get her fair share of money, not to mention child support, so hopefully that spelled apartment soon.
Pulling up to the gym, she got out now and slammed the door behind her. Diana took a deep breath and blew it out, shaking herself free of her troubling thoughts. For now, yoga would be the only thing on her mind. ‘Think inner zen, Diana,’ she thought to herself as she headed inside with her mat. While there were no classes today, that didn’t mean that the woman couldn’t take advantage of the empty aerobics room for her own peace and tranquility. Although, when she walked in, Diana saw that she was not alone. She was annoyed at first, but upon inspection of standing next to the mat and peering down, she decided that she would not be bothered by his presence at all.
The mystery man seemed to sense her presence as his brown eyes snapped open and they both found themselves staring at each other, “If you’re brand new, then perhaps we should start with some basic moves.” Diana had been thinking about doing vinasya flow, but if this adorable hunk wanted her help and for her to play teacher, she had no qualms finding a more relaxing flow. She side stepped, allowing space between them as she unfolded her mat and dropped it to the ground, “I’m Diana,” the woman introduced herself now, blue eyes glancing back over at him curiously as she smiled, “What made you wish to explore yoga today if you don’t mind me asking?”
Perhaps it was because Diana was used to only seeing the man in the office, but this might have been the first time she had ever seen him smile. Well, perhaps he smiled that other time when Blaise Turner waltzed to the front desk looking like a fat cat that had just caught a cannery. It was certainly a relationship that she didn't understand, or perhaps the blossom of a relationship, but people had their private lives and Diana knew better than to judge. Even if one part of that book cover had a background in criminal history. The woman smiled at her boss though when he came to his own conclusion on what his name should be, "I think I can work with that, Brook."
At least he didn't seem to take offense to her joke about bosses about needing a break. If he did, Brook had taken it well in stride, "Glad you see its good to take care of your mental health like that. I knew people back in London who had a hard time with it." Even Diana herself could struggle with taking work home with her, even here in sleepy Hickstead, but she learned it did her no good - not in her failed marriage, and it certainly didn't help with her teenage daughter. She nodded as he pointed out his bag, "Same. At least, getting it in before work. I like grabbing my lunch from here," her blue eyes glanced to the large german shepherd now, "Is he fine with strangers petting him?"
What little she knew of her boss, she assumed the dog would be fine with it. But there was never any harm in asking for permission, and with dogs (even the tiniest of dogs), it was always best to ask first. Still, she held out her hand to allow Zeus to sniff and to see her not as a threat, "Besides prepping for work, you got anything else going on this weekend or with the holidays coming up?"

She listened to the younger man talk as they made their way out to the tree now. Diana truthfully was only half listening to his stance on how the winter has been and how that makes it difficult and dangerous for the trees. The woman was too busy admiring him to fully absorb his words, and her mind kept on dancing around how rusty she had gotten in her flirting skills. Granted, she had been married since her early twenties, so Diana supposed that she could not be too hard on herself.
His playful joke about his height did not go unnoticed by her, and she smiled, "Ah well, perhaps that was my problem. I wasn't looking for a superman like being up in the sky. I'll keep that in mind for the future though whenever I am in town." And the woman was in town a lot, but no need to sell herself out as a detective quite just yet, or that often in town for the matter. At least she knew now to take a better look at the trees and shrubbery though that dotted Main Street.
It wasn't long before they were at the tree, their tracks left in the snow. Blue eyes stared at the oak, it was a little sad to see in this state, "It's fine. I wouldn't want you to get hurt because of this tree," Diana replied now. Although, she was a little begrudged that she wouldn't get to witness Lindsay truly work. Something told her that he might have to reschedule given the tree's state. She just might have to make sure it was another day that she was at the house alone, "It's as old as the house, if not older. I'm sorta sad to see it go." Diana glanced over at him now, trying to figure out how to find a way in conversation beyond the stupid tree.
Funny how she could get a suspect to spill their guts and yet being met with a strapping man was throwing her for a loop, "So, were trees always your passion?" She supposed he kinda looked the part, but Diana can't quite imagine how one gets into tree care and shrubbery. Diana had nothing against it, and bless those people who found passion in it, but the woman could never find herself looking at a tree and going 'huh - i want to make that grow and live forever'.

It appeared to take Brook a few moments to register that she had spoken to him. In her boss's (well, one of her boss's) defense, he was leashing up his dog now and likely distracted by the task. Diana knew that dog - certain it had visited the station a few times, and that it was very well trained. However, from an outsider's perspective, Diana could see how an off leash German Shepherd might worry people - especially given the unfortunate sigma that they carried with them. As Brook straighten up though, his eyes found hers and he promptly acknowledged her, "Deputy Chief, and I do have days off Diana. . Occasionally.” Laughter escaped her at the correction, "Deputy Chief doesn't roll off the tongue as well." In fact, it was down right awkward to say. But it just showed how different everyone was considering she got away with it in London, "Ah well, I suppose you're right about having days off. Even bosses need a break," especially when they have seemingly exhausting girlfriends, "Are you and Zeus just out for a walk or did you have a mission out here for groceries like I do?"

It would seem that neither herself or Seth were earning favors with each other given the look of contempt that he just gave her matched how she felt about him in this exact moment. Although, Diana wouldn't stoop to the level of her colleagues, and unlike them, she actually wanted to get to the bottom of this rather than just pin it on some troubled man. Given the attitude and failure to cooperate, the woman could see why Seth Cannon was hardly well received at the Station. At the same time, his file would go on to suggest that there had been various times of mishandling him, so she could see why he felt the way he did: "I don't care what you like or what you think is the case. All you law-dogs are the same, it's hardly surprising that the rest of them are hiding behind a mirror. Makes them feel better."
Ah, another tyrranid about how they all were the same and she was no different. Color her surprised The follow up to the water hardly surprised her either, "Would it help you to know that it's coming from a sealed bottle, so it cannot be tampered with?" Given the past five minutes, probably not. Nonetheless, Diana felt mildly obligated to inform him that there was no way to tamper with it.
Leaning back in her seat, blue eyes watched Seth as she unloaded her information onto him. With each word, his expression lost more and more emotion along with color. Well, that is curious. Diana continued to watch as the young man shifted now, his leg twitching just slightly as he folded his arms. Nervous tick. Perhaps untreated AHDH, always a possibility not to be ignored nowadays. "What does it matter?" Seth spat. Diana noted a slight tremble in his voice now, "Why string this out? Suspicious loitering my ass, what bullshit. Any fucking reason to kick a person. I'm not playing to your games, I am not doing this again." And then, he began pacing. Not once, did the woman leave her seat, she simply watched him like a hawk, her body relaxed but her mind alert. Sometimes, it takes the body 30 seconds to realizes that it's being attacked, and that's if caught off guard.
It did not go unnoticed by Diana how the young man observed his surroundings, the gears behind his eyes working, trying to figure out if there was some way he could escape. She wondered how the others felt on the other side, watching this from the safety of their plexiglass mirror window. And then, his gaze fell on her. Diana simply stared back, unreadable as ever. She needed her motherly instinct to kick in, but in the back of her mind, the woman couldn't help but to think about what good that would do her considering that her own teenage daughter remained angry and aloof with her. Seth sunk now, closing his eyes. This was bad. She was already loosing him and this had hardly begun. Not to mention, he had been eyeing her up in a way that suggested that he thought he could take her on.
She pulled out the screen shots of the camera footage, and placed them on the table for whenever he decided to get up, "Seth, I am not stringing this out. I am simply asking questions," Diana said now, "And I know this is a shock, but bullshit in not my forte unless it's over a pint a beer." Her blue eyes went back to resting on him, "And I suck at games, my daughter informs me of this all the time." She was certain he would probably inform her that he didn't care about her personal information, "I'm after the truth, not a reason to just throw you behind bars unlike some of my other colleagues. It would be silly of me to do that given that I know nothing about you, even though you know everything about me since I am a...law dog?" Her voice as as calm and collected as ever.

No sooner then the thoughts of fashionably late entered her thoughts did a voice cut across the Luna Lounge, "I'm so sorry I'm late, but it's so good to see you!" Well, that was a voice that she knew from anywhere. Turning in her bar chair, Diana's blue gaze searched the room to see none other than Roxanne Reed walking towards her and boy, did she look ready to kill. In a good way that is, with a dress that Diana couldn't even imagine pulling off. But that was part of the other woman's charm. She could probably walk in wearing a bloody potato sack and still turn heads, not because it was a potato sack, but simply because she was Roxanne Reed: CEO and Professional Woman Extraordinaire.
A grin flooded her lips now, and she kicked her feet out from the chair and got up, taking one step before she was pulling her friend into a hug, "No worries! I'm so happy you were able to come." Breaking the hug now, Diana pulled back, "I wasn't sure if you'd be able to come. I know how busy you can get." Well, the woman assumed that Roxanne was still busy as ever, just has she had been in London. Nodding to the empty chair next to her, Diana offered for the other woman to sit down as as she returned to her seat, "I ordered champagne and chocolate strawberries for starters, since dessert is always best before dinner." She said jokingly before adding on, "I can't believe you're here in Hickstead of all places."

Diana's mind had been blown when she found out that one of her friends from London had ended up in none other than Hickstead. It had been a hot second since they had talked, ultimately, their own lives getting in the way of friendship. The woman could neither fault herself or Roxanne Reed for that though. While friendship was always important, once Sasha had come along, family came first and she knew the other woman had her own business to run. So they lost touch. It wasn't until Diana relocated to Hickstead and began reaching out to some of her old friends to inform them of the aftermath of the divorce did she find out that Roxanne had aslo relocated.
In typical Roxanne fashion though, it had been hard to pry her away from her company to come out. For first few months since moving here, Diana had been willing to let it slide, mainly because she had her own settling in to do. Moving back into her parents' house with them and her teenage daughter felt like the adult version of the walk of shame back to the dorm room after a night of clubbing. Between her parents lording over her (which was ridiculous and annoying given that she was a grown woman) and Sasha being moody over leaving London and her friends behind, Diana had been stretched thin. The police station had been her sanctuary, and that certainly was saying something.
But no more. Tonight was going to be a night out, filled with fun. And by fun, that just meant banter and catching up with friend that was long overdue. Diana made certain that the other woman understood that the date was set and there was no getting out of it. When 530 came, Roxanne had to leave and come to the Luna Lounge for a bottle of bubbly and chocolate covered strawberries, nothing could stand in her way. Diana was already nursing a class of champagne now, the bottle left with her as she perused her phone and noted the time. It was 545, but it felt like typical Roxanne to arrive fashionably late.
