Maelle was nearing her final year. Soon, she could taste it. The start of the semester had been okay. She was still a bit heartbroken over Stephen, but Mal had accepted that the ship had sailed. It was fun while it lasted, and she could fill that hole with another dance partner.
She was stuck at work now, drawing blood more than she had thought. It wasn’t a bad thing, but once people knew how good she had gotten – Mal seemed to be in the phlebotomy lab rather than the front desk. Molly had a handle on it though, so that was good.
As she was typing away at her computer, Mal noticed a patient schedule for some lab work and a physical. Maelle didn’t know if she would be sitting in on that appointment, but it sounded better than at the front desk on a slow morning.
Sipping away at iced coffee, Mal saw a patient walk up. She opened the sliding door. “Good morning! Name please?” she greeted.
September meant Kendra needed to get her physical and her bloodwork done for the police station. They needed to make sure all the staff were all healthy enough to continue working there. Being a police officer meant that she needed to be in tip-top shape. There was nothing worse than having to stop and cough while catching a perpetrator on foot.
The woman dropped Chloe off at school, wishing her a good morning before she drove off towards the Doctor's office. With her hot London Fog in her hand, she headed inside once she parked and locked her car. She knew some of her coworkers dreaded having blood taken, as if they had something to hide. Kendra prided herself in being healthy - doing various workouts on a daily basis.
Kendra walked up the stairs and entered the appropriate room, not even looking at the others - making it to the reception desk. "Good Morning, Kendra Hawkes. Should just be blood work and a checkup for the Police Station." When she had made the appointment, she did mention her results were to be sent off to them. "Oh, and I assume I have to hand in my fitness testing as well?"
Mal typed into her computer and pulled up the PT after receiving her birthday as well. “Alrighty…” her eyes glanced over the computer screen and nodded. “Yes, we have a few exams. The doctor will go over the fitness results with you.”
The young woman stood up from the desk and grabbed a clipboard from a back organizer. Mal disappeared for a moment, only to pop up from behind a door. “You can follow me.” Once Kendra was in, Mal led her to the scale and height. “You can take off your shoes and any heavy layers. And step onto the scale, facing outward – when you’re ready.”
Kendra nodded - she wasn't really someone who focused on the statistics of her fitness. The blonde was lucky that her husband kept her competitive about it - all for fun of course. "Perfect." She didn't have much longer to wait before she got her answer from the doctor.
She watched the younger woman grab the clipboard and leave before calling her into the room. The woman lifted her head and followed into the room - closing the door behind her. "This is my least favorite part." She joked, as she took off her shoes. "Do you weigh and measure the height of everyone that comes here?"
It didn't take her long to get out of her sweater, jeans and socks. The woman stepped on the scale, making sure she was facing the correct way. "I promise I've been eating healthy. I don't understand why people think that police officers just eat doughnuts."
