Pierce snorted as he took another lazy step forward so he could pick out the nicest pieces of grass in his way. The warm sun on his back wasn't welcome, only drawing out the already tender warmth along his back line and sides were it was most painful. Yet he remained purely because there was good grass here in the meadow, and he could see in almost every direction as he meandered through.
Flicking his tail, he scattered the flies that were gathering on him with minor success, the little insects regrouping to hang out for the day. Lifting his head, his ears did a little swivel, listening for anything that might be trying to get too close. After moving forward another few steps, he stretched a little, leaning down to scratch at his leg. Another flick of the tail, a toss of his head, he was back to eating at his own pace. Careless of the world around him for the moment.
Molly couldn't believe it when she overheard the latest barn gossip: a mysterious horse had been spotted multiple times around Seven Oaks' trail property. Nobody has been able to get a good look at the horse, only glimpses and it supposedly always disappears before anybody could get too close. Naturally, the teenager knew that this only had one logical conclusion: it was Ghost Horse. And nobody could call her crazy because apparently this mysterious disappearing ghost supposedly had a mark on its shoulder, which could only mean it was the bloodied shoulder from the legend where his or her owner died while riding them. Everybody in her life had seemingly been unavailable for one reason or another, much to Molly's annoyance, but was she could to let that stop her? No.
She had pulled Luna from her stall, tacked her up along with some borrowed saddle bags stuffed with what she needed: EMF reader, carrots, cell phone batteries, halter, lead rope, first aid kit, and naturally, a giant tub of salt. The school horse herself had no idea what to make of her crazy human's antics, but thankfully, appeared unannoyed by the extra weight, "Luna, we are going to find and record ghost horse. And then, I will finally prove to everyone that I am not nuts. We are going to become internet famous beyond just my blog." She texted the musketeers as well as Maeve, just to make it clear that if Luna came back without her that they had to go search the trails, and off they went.
It had been an hour or two before Molly and Luna found themselves entering the last known spot on the trails where Ghost Horse had been spotted: the meadow. The excitement had been bubbling up in her all morning since they had left Blue Arces and now they were here! Fishing into her chaps, Molly pulled out her cell phone, "Hello Mollinators! Luna and I are out here in the Meadow, last known place of our Ghost Horse. Today, I have devised a way to catch him. No signs from the EMF reader yet, but that doesnt mean-" Beneath her, her mare came a rather abrupt and sudden halt, catching the teenager off guard as she dropped her phone to keep herself from lurching onto Luna's neck. Dark brown eyes looked to the mare's ears, which were twitching, her neck and head stiffened like she was alert, something was out there, "What do you hear Luna?" she mutterer before straightening in the seat, looking wildly around now, "Hello?!"
Could it be that she was on the brink of a unworldly discovery? Molly was certain she was about to find out.
