This was only his second time on the Hickstead University campus, the first had been when he had gotten dragged there by his mother when they had to see if it was acceptable for Leonie - which was the exact reason why he was here now. Something went down at their home between their mother and Francesca, so he went to let her know. Why wasn't just texting her like a normal teenager? Well, he needed a reason to get out of the house and this was just as good as an excuse as anything. As soon as he got there though, the young male decided to detour from what he knew of his sister's schedule and headed off some where else. The stables. He had wanted to see them - just in case this sabbatical ended up being a lot longer than what his mother had promised.
Archie followed the signs and the pathways before he came upon the stables. It was very modern looking for such an old university and town. He wasn't complaining though, he wouldn't be one to stick his nose up at borderline state of the art barns. Green eyes took to his surroundings, he clocked at least two out door arenas and was certain there was an indoor one near by for the winters. The horses - from the curious heads poking out of some of the stall windows facing the outdoors - looked happy as well. He supposed those were the school horses. The young male didn't question too much, merely because he had a whole year to think about school and what he wanted to do with it. And truth be told, he wasn't certain if his horses would be coming with him or not, giving him the chance to concentrate on another hobby that required water over equine.
Heading inside, the barn seemed to be a ghost town but given the time of day - he presumed most people were at their classes. It was too early or late for any sort of team practice or meeting. His green eyes caught movement though, and saw someone - a blonde young man - coming out of a stall now. Ah, maybe he could answer any questions he may have about balancing equestrian life and college, "Excuse me," he called out, hoping the thick accent didn't scare the person off as he drew closer, "I was wondering if-" and then, he sputtered off as he came face to face with the man - who turned out wasn't a complete stranger at all but a missing prince and well, his cousin, "Alexi?" The young male was dumbfounded, but his eyes soon narrowed - suspicion taken over. After all, he had been missing for a few years now - no handsome note, no good bye note, no nothing but upset parents and a bewildered fiancé left behind - nothing but rumors that whole country of Germany felt the need to spread. Quickly, he switched to their native tongue - just in case, "What are you doing here?"

Griffin wasn’t someone that avoided the stables. If anything, he loved it. He could be with his horse and the other horses. Ignoring his issues and everything else that was on his mind. There was something meditative about brushing his horse, Dickens.
He was in the process of walking towards Dickens’ stall with his groom kit when a voice called out. Griffin turned and was about to answer when lo and behold…Shit. The older male let his cousin approach, despite wanting to pretend that he was talking to someone else. When Archie switched to their native tongue, it made Griffin let loose. A smidge.
“Hello…Archie. I attend school here.” There was no point in lying since the past few years, he had been living a lie. “And yourself?” he asked, beckoning his cousin to follow. There would be a bit more privacy around him. Unless there was a random person that knew German.
There was a look on his cousin's face that Archie couldn't quite register, but it truthfully looked like Alexi was caught between letting him approach him and running in the other direction. It was wild to see him in person after six years of thinking that he had been kidnapped. If he had been kidnapped, it must have left him completely unphased since the young man before him looked as prim and proper as ever, even at a barn. Thankfully, he didn't seem to run away from Archie now as he finally addressed him back in German, "Hello…Archie. I attend school here,” then the gesture to follow him, "And yourself?”
It took everything in the teenager's power to not let his jaw hit the barn floor. Attending school? Here? Well shit, Alexi might be in for a surprise to discover that Leonie too attended school here. Archie scampered after his cousin though before he could be left in the dust, "You attend school here? Is someone holding you hostage in England? Archie spewed now, not in a mean sense, but a hyper sense. It was hard to wrap his brain around that Prince Alexi Büchel of Liechtenstein was here, in person, "Blink twice if the answer is yes. Your parents are still looking for you." Hopefully nobody here spoke german or else this probably would have been a very awkward conversation to behold. And then something else hit Archie like a brick to the face and he almost stopped dead in his tracks, "How does nobody know who you are?" There were so many questions to be asked, perhaps this is what it meant to have your brain running on red bull.

“What?! No, I came here on my own,” Griffin sighed. He didn’t know how much he could pass off to Archie. Honestly, he wasn’t exactly ever prepared for this kind of meeting in all honesty. That was foolish of him though. His family, while not immediate, had a higher chance. This was the chance.
Griffin walked over to Dickens' stall and the gelding greeted him with a nudge. “They need to stop looking for me. I left because I wanted to. Do you know how hard it is to have them always breathing down my neck?” It did suck that the people he considered his parents now, were probably fully banned from their home country.
“Well…no one knew until you,” Griffin sighed, giving Dickens a carrot.
Archie was utterly certain that his eyes must have been bugging out of his head, "I'm sorry. You came here on your own?" If it weren't for that utterly exasperated sigh that escaped his cousin, the teenager might have thought Alexi had been sarcastic. Instead, he delivered it with that frank Bavarian attitude that they all were so well known for. This almost didn't seem like reality, like it was some sort of dream or book, that he was standing before a member of a royal family who didn't want the crown, or the marriage that came with. Given the latter thought, Archie suddenly realized that perhaps that was the point.
Alexi didn't seem to want to humor his stupid question, which the teenager supposed he couldn't blame him. His cousin appeared to ignore him as they made their way to a horse stall, where a beautiful bay holsteiner reached out to nudge the older male in familiarity: “They need to stop looking for me. I left because I wanted to. Do you know how hard it is to have them always breathing down my neck?” Well, that was a sentiment that Archie knew well, not from himself, but from his sisters. Green eyes continued to stare at the blonde though, "Holy shit - you really did come here on your own." Which was exactly what Alexi had been trying to tell him for the past five minutes.
Archie ran a hand through his hair, messing up the perfect fauxhawk that he had crafted so carefully this morning, "Alexi...this is going to blow up in your face." Sure, his cousin may have perfected living abroad and under the radar for the last five years or so, and he was willing to bet the student population of Hickstead University didn't know about the tiny kingdom and country of Liechtenstein, but this was a dangerous game. This was probably a powder keg waiting to explode, "Look. I am not going to tell anyone - cause, you're still my favorite cousin, but I hope you haven't built a life here. I hear Anthony and Lara have taken their own measures now into figuring out what happened to you." Leave it to an older brother and a state sponsored fiancé to not let sleeping dogs lie.

“Of course they are,” he grumbled. “And I’m fully aware that it may, but so far I’ve been laying low enough.” He wouldn’t admit that he wouldn’t know what to do when it did come bubbling to the surface. Griffin had escaped the world of it all for so long, but he knew that the past would come back soon.
His lips pursed as he mulled over what else to talk about. Griffin didn’t want to continue about himself. “And may I ask what you’re doing here?” Griffin countered. It was a bit odd that his cousin was here as well. He had seen a few of the articles here and there, but Griffin didn’t pry. The media blew shit up, things were more dramatic than they were. But it didn’t prevent him from worrying and wondering if the family was okay.
