Cassie glanced over at the other rider, noticing her slightly annoyed attitude from the look on her face. The blonde didn't know who the other girl rode with, but it would be easy for her to find out - and have a talk with her coach about her basic ring etiquette. When giving her students instructions, she made sure to say it loud enough for the other person to hear - if there was anyone.
"Looking great, exercises like that are good to help practice your balance in the saddle." It was something important for all riders to work on. Being off balance in the tack meant throwing the horse off - and that wasn't something ideal. 'Alright, now ride down the quarter line, try and push Willow left for a few steps and then right again." The mare was getting better at listening to the shift in body weight rather than moving off of the leg.
"Have you had a chance to ride between lessons?" There were plenty of sane lesson horses available and Cassie wasn't at the barn when most people were - she tended to ride first thing in the morning before school started. "Once you are down there, another wall to wall circle at the top end please." She would get Nulpi and Willow to start jogging.
After the potatoes were dry, she began peeling them with the peeler she found in the drawer nearby over the sink. 'Still, thank you. If one of you could carry it to the dinning table and the other start setting the table that would be great. I really just have to cook the potatoes and the steaks. Then we can eat." Thankfully, she usually didn't have an appetizer - knowing that it was the most likely the item that Wes brought with him.
"It's in the drawer by the sink. It always lives there, not like it has feet or anything." She laughed, stopping to get Wes a drink. After a few moments, she pulled down a glass, got water from the sink and put a few lemon slices from the fridge. Cassie carried the glass and set it on the side table next to Wes and Rocket. "Oh that sounds romantic! You'll have to let me know how the event went. Was it hard for you to put up the igloos?" She asked, walking back to the kitchen - going back to peeling the potatoes. "Next time, we will have to pull Tyson away too though." Her other brother was busy running the winery. She couldn't imagine how busy it would be on a night like tonight.
"No thanks. It's still too early to make the salad. Though maybe fill the glass pitcher of water for the table. I'm sure we won't all just want to drink wine all not." She'd help finish the bottle but then switch to water as the night went on - being drunk wasn't really her thing.
"I think Mom is desperately trying to get him to retire. She keeps seeing those cruise ship ads and wants to take Dad on one for a month through Europe." Though she wasn't slowing down either. There were always clients to coach and competitions to attend, though she was more keen about settling down. Especially now that all three kids were out of the house. It must feel odd for them.
She put her dirty dishes into the picnic basket and opened the container with brownies inside. "Regular old gym class. I have the sixteen year olds this year so there are some not so enthusiastic so I'm trying to make it more fun and interesting for them." She found it hard to get teenagers motivated as she had very athletic people and ones who couldn't' care less. "I'll take any advice on how to motivate kids, though I know you don't really deal with them at work." She often asked others even if they didn't teach - it was always nice to hear other opinions.
"Are you still enjoying working at the post office too?" She asked before taking a bite of the brownie and setting it on her plate.
I don't like the fighting. I thought it was supposed to be about the goals and fancy assists. Yep, winning the game is more important than losing a tooth.
Sunny Florida definitely beats being here. It's always rainy and gross so I don't think she would ever want to come here. At least drag him to Top Golf or whatever it's called. I hear it's a lot of fun for guys. LOL
He may be tough on the outside but just ask my mom, he's a softie. Yeah I guess they do. I just heard about it recently. Right....like my students would know who you were xD.
Oh come on. It's adorable when you are a softie <3. I'm sure everyone on the team know that. I'll email my boss in the morning. I'm sure because it's close to the end of the school year, I can get someone to cover for me. Not like we have many exams in P.E.
You make those "I'm the girlfriend" seats special. Don't make a huge fuss because I'm coming. I don't care if I have to go sit up in the nosebleeds...
Cassandra nodded, it seemed like a similar situation than teaching young kids how to act around horses. "I do understand that. It's unfortunate how kids are raised now." She tried her best to educate her students - in life skills as well as physical education. "Children are everywhere, so that must make it more annoying?" She finished setting up the poles and stood near the center of the arena, keeping a close eye on both pairs.
The blonde grinned, glad that Nulpi agreed. "I'm looking forward to it. Rocket may not be young but he still has the zoomies. Is it easy for Una to shut off the work brain?" She had read that they knew the difference between working and playing - depending if their harness was on or not. "Yes that sounds perfect. Maybe between Christmas and the New Year? I'm off of work then and mostly will be teaching." Cassie wasn't sure if she was going to go away for the Holidays, though it was an opportunity for her riders to make up their lessons they may have missed during the year.
She noticed the other rider and also gave her a frown. "It's left to left if you are passing, please be mindful of that." The other rider nodded and watched around the arena. "Sorry about that, good job riding on. Alright let's do a circle half of the ring when you get back down to this end." Cassie turned and watched the far end of the arena, her blue eyes flickering between watching Willow and Nulpi together.
Please don't fight anyone. Leave that to Darnell or Evander. That's what they get paid the big bucks for LOL.
She can be a bit much sometimes. A little too girly for my taste in friends but she sends fun gifts for the holidays etc. Well, maybe she won't tag along for the All-Star game and it'll just be the two of you?
You know you don't have to prove yourself to him...I think as long as I'm happy my mom will keep him in check. I am in the midst of talking to the gym professor at the University to see if I can take the kiddos on the ice there. I think they'd enjoy it.
Leo...you are so sweet. It's worth it for you too. I'll look into what school looks like and see if I can come. Though if you really want to, I always have room in my apartment for you <3
"We can eat it tomorrow too, I never know how hungry you two are." It was something she learned from her Grandmother, cooking or bringing way too much food to various events. She hated nothing more than to have her guests leave hungry. Cassie rolled up her sleeves and picked up a few potatoes from the small pantry, carrying them over to the sink. The woman noticed the flash of golden fur run towards the front door, she would have yelled at the dog - except she knew he knew better than to tackle Wes. "Heads up, furry friend incoming."
She turned the tap on and rinsed the potatoes under the water. "Wes, you know you didn't have to bring anything....does it need to go in the fridge or should I put it out on the table to snack on?" Cassie could see the insulated bag from the corner of her eye. She had enough food for the three of them, though they were always taught to bring something with them while visiting. "I do hope Rocket didn't take anyone out." The older Golden retriever followed shortly after, heading off to his dog bed in the living room.
"Any one of you want to start with beverages? What would everyone like to drink? I pretty much have everything." She turned the tap off and carried the wet potatoes over to a plate. Cassie patted her hands dry with a nearby kitchen towel - using a nearby paper towel to pat the potatoes dry. "How is work going, Wes? Winery busy for Valentine's Day?"
Oh, I'll keep it under my hat I promise. I don't think they fear you though, you haven't fought anyone yet . That would be fun! Well, Lauren could always tag along. Or is it awkward being their third wheel sometimes?
You really wouldn't embarrass me like that would you? I tend to be able to deal with the problem students on my own though, thankfully. It's hard teaching them hockey when the school doesn't have an ice rink, though floor hockey is coming up soon in the curriculum.
Ugh, I miss you too <3. I'd love a visit, though 24 hours seems like a short amount of time. Is it worth the jet lag? Did you get voted in? Or did Connor steal the thunder this year? I'll look into coming to a playoff game though, I promise. It was so much fun last year!!
Cassandra laughed, she had long passed the three month rule with Leon. It would be nine years together with him coming up shortly. Most people were at least engaged by that point, but being apart for so long made it nearly impossible. "I must have missed the memo on the three month rule. Do people really get engaged that quickly?" She had heard of people getting engaged after six months of dating, though that wasn't enough time to know someone - in her opinion.
"I have heard of that happening, though I think it was done in a joking manner. Looks like you better sign up for Tinder, Zoe." She didn't know the other two women well enough to know their relationship status - and she didn't want to ask as it was a personal question. Cassandra got up from her chair and began cleaning away the hummus and veggie tray, noticing there would be enough for her to have as a snack for the next work day. "Alright, I'll bring out the brie and bring some more bread out." The blonde put on oven mitts and pulled out the warm cheese from the oven.
She placed the cheese on the table, making sure it was on a trivet before setting it on the table. "My students seem so much happier if we have class outside, which should be here shortly!" Cassie also yearned for the months of being outside every day - almost all day as well. She turned away from the table and entered the kitchen, taking off her oven mitts before picking up the bread basket and bringing it with her. "Really? I'm shocked that happened. Though I ride Western, there seems to be more riders at Seven Oaks that do the same." Cassie was lucky enough to fly under the radar - her three horses behaving themselves even while at a different barn.
"Did you recently start boxing? And what made you start?" She had debated taking a self-defense class, just in case something happened. Cassie was lucky and hadn't gotten herself into a physical fight just yet. "What do you think of the new barn though? It seems much nicer that the old one, and that's saying something!" He finally sat back down and took another sip of wine from her glass.
Cassandra knew Leon didn't really want to clean, but they had invited Wes over for dinner. She tried her best to keep the place clean, but with herself and Rocket living there - it was an awful lot to clean up. The main problem was that most of her place was white, which meant every little mark showed.
Even with their team effort, it took them longer than she anticipated. The place was sparkly white again and all the cleaning supplies were away in their respected cupboards. The blonde let out a sigh, having the sudden feeling she needed a nap - though Wes would be arriving shortly. She fixed her sweater and headed off to the kitchen. "I made salad for us, it's not for my three I promise." Though there were always apples and carrots in the fridge her horses, it was something she could have as a snack as well if she felt hungry after work.
"Yes, you go get the door and I'll start getting dinner cooked." She took the salad out of the fridge and set it on a counter before rolling up her sleeves. The steaks had been marinating in the fridge since the night before, knowing it was something the three of them would enjoy. As she watched Leon walk over and open the door, she turned towards the door and smiled. "Hi Wes, so glad you could make it. Make yourself at home!" Rocket got up from his bed and bounded over to the front door, sitting patiently by Leon's side, wondering who was at the door.
Yeah, we just had our break... and it's kind of frowned upon to not work. I do love my job though <3. Do you really think anyone could call you a Monster though? I know how much of a softie you are hehe.
Any idea on where you are going to go with Connor yet?
It's not too bad, it seems the sugar rush of the Christmas holidays has been ran off. They are dreading their midterms being around the corner so I do try and take it easy on them. Trying to get them into baskeball soon!
It feels odd that you aren't playing until the 9th...any plans for the break? I wish I could come see you, but the new semester just started a few weeks ago...
Cassandra kept her smile as Hazel opened the door, walking inside the warm bakery. The smell was welcoming, reminding her of her time working there. "Good Morning, Hope I didn't wake you!" She made sure to run her boots along the mat, not wanting to drag anything through the clean floor.
"Yes, please! I finished my thermos of coffee on my way over." Cassie never said no to a caffeine kick, especially this early in the morning. It was odd for her to wake up and not prepare herself to teach at the school, but this was a nice change.
She headed over to the sink, washing her hands with the nearby soap. It didn't take her long to dry them off with a nearby towel. "What are we making this morning? You lead the way!" Cassandra didn't want to step on any toes by dictating what they were baking - it was Hazel's bakery after all.
"How have you been? Busy for the Holidays, I hope?" She made her way over to the back room, which was where the baking happened. Cassie knew she was busy herself, though she liked to keep it that way most of the year.
