"So...you're both a horse whisperer and Criminal Minds?" Reni rolled her eyes, not unkindly, and laughed. "For your information, I'm a horse listener, not a horse whisperer. And if you really want to blow your mind, I actually trained at Quantico, and yes, the inside of the federal building looks exactly like it does on the TV show." She had been sadly disappointed that it had been so, well, boring. "I'm not a Federal Agent though, just a police officer. Though, yes, profiling just like the BAU do, I'm trained in reading people."
"A doorway to another world? So...the gate is the other world? Like...a transporter?" Reni laughed and shook her head. "Not quite another world. More like an emotion dreamcatcher. I walk through it and any negative emotions will stick to the outside of the doorway, waiting for me until I've finished with the horses." Yes, she knew exactly how crazy she sounded, and she didn't care. Her eyes sparkled with mischief. "If we have time later, I'll show you how to create a ball of energy between your hands." Simple children's games were always fun.
"That was amazing though. I certainly wouldn't have pulled that off." Reni gave a soft smile, and a theatrical curtsy. "Don't sell yourself short." She said softly, turning serious again, as she offered the girl the lead. "I'm sure you can do the same thing. It takes a few times before the horse works out that it's easier just to come up to you if they don't want to have to more work than they have to." She rubbed Luna's nose. "She has a beautiful face. It says a lot about her."

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you Serenity! I'll be honest, you certainly had me fooled on not working here with your thoughts. I have to say, you do look familiar to me though. I sit over at Alcott's Jewelry and Design...admittingly I do a lot of window watching, so I guess that must be it." Reni smiled and shrugged. "You've probably seen me around before. I'm a police officer." She conceded, as she was quite a common face around town, as she tried to be as friendly as possible when she was on patrol; chatting to as many people as she could about every-day topics, and helping people carry things when need be.
"You could say it's a family thing." She said mysteriously. She ran her hand above the candles. "While finding the meanings of the candle colours are good, a lot of the times, the candles will tell you which one you should use." She paused a moment as she thought. "You're a jeweller, you said? Do you pick the stones or metals you are going to use, or does it seem more like they are calling to you? That's the universe speaking to you." She smiled as she nodded toward the candles. "Humour me on this one. Pick up the candles in the colours you were originally thinking about getting, one in each hand, and tell me how they feel in your hands. Are they warm, or cold?" A little witchcraft never harmed anyone, and this was something even muggles could do. "And just because I'm a bit of a bookworm, what was the series you were reading?" She did love a well-written witch series.

"Fine. Keep your secrets then," Serenity couldn't help but laugh. "I studied psychology, so profiling people comes naturally." She offered, and it was as close to telling people she was an empath that she got, as her profiling skills came from her natural skills too.
"Yup! I have a peppermint or two in my pocket." Serenity grinned, she too always had something in her pocket, which always raised eyebrows if she had to empty her pockets to find something at work, and pony nuts or peppermints came out - which is why she tried to make sure she changed before coming to the yard. "Treats are great, as long as your friend isn't anticipating that they are always on hand."
"Yes please. I swear I am a quick study once shown. I just...I think my feelings are still getting the best of me. And I am sure Luna will catch on the moment she sees me again." Reni gave a soft smile as she walked to the gate and then paused. "I grew up in a small town in West Virginia, and the kids at school weren't always nice about my family, and the company we kept, and I'd come home in a foul mood. Because we retrained problem horses, I couldn't go into the pastures when I was in a mood. Dad taught me a trick, where I pictured that the gate." She drew the outline of a doorway around the gate. "Is a doorway into another world. A world where nothing before the moment I walk through the gateway exists." She grinned and shrugged. "Picture yourself walking into a bubble. I can even tell you my secret mantra." Mantra, spell, semantics.
Taking the mare's halter and lead rope, Reni let herself into the pasture and took a moment to survey what was happening, making no attempt to hid the things she was holding, and then made her way to where the grey mare was grazing. She chuckled and shook her head as the mare lifted her head enough to move forward a couple of steps before she resumed grazing, though her ears were locked on the woman.
It didn't take long before Reni hand the halter over the mare's nose, after a bit of moving around the pasture, though she'd done this a few times before and knew how to get the mare to move exactly where she wanted her to go, making sure to let the mare know that she was only going to stop when she was told she could, and she offered the mare some apple and cinnamon treats now that she had the halter on her and clicked her tongue as they headed toward the gate. "I think she enjoyed that more than she should have."

Serenity cringed inwardly as she managed to startle the woman. "I haven't even thought of blue or purple." She nodded, information on candle magic love spells generally went straight to the point; pink and red candles, forgetting about the fact that the person might need to look inward before they thought about unleashing a wish into the universe.
"Sorry, I'm not usually like this," She gave a soft smile, brows arched. "Er, I'm Mina. I have to say, you're quite knowledgeable and I don't think I've seen you around Blackthorne before. Do you....do you work here?" Her smile softened. "I'm Serenity." She said. "No, I don't work here." In fact, she hadn't even stepped into the store until shortly before Yule, because she had run out of an ingredient and had a feeling that this place would have what she needed, and, in more than one way, it indeed had. She grew all her own herbs, so had that side of things sorted, but until the end of the previous year she had sourced her candles online. However, she was a firm believer in supporting locally, so she came here for when she needed new candles now. "If I didn't have a job elsewhere, I'd love to be able to work in a place like this! She'd never actually thought about getting a job that had anything to do with who she was, but she could see the appeal. It would be nice to not have to hide who she was as much as she did with the police.
She studied Mina for a moment. "I like using candles to send out intentions, too." She offered.

"Is it really that obvious?" Serenity gave a soft smile. "Only for someone who knows what to look for." She offered with a shrug.
"Oh! You're Maeve's friend." Her brow rose, not quite sure how to take that statement and she laughed. "I'm... going to take that as a compliment. She said with a grin. She like Maeve enough, and wouldn't say that the young woman wasn't her friend.
"Really? Because she just seems to think this is a game...and it already feels like work chasing her around." She gave her a soft smile. "Ah, but I'm not suggest that you chase her. just don't let her decide when she's going to change direction. In a herd, the alpha mare in charge, the stallions only job is to keep other stallions away, move the herd when there's danger, and make babies. The one who is really in charge, the one who keeps order and the mares and youngsters in line, is the alpha mare." She glanced at the horses in the pasture. "As silly as it sounds, the one in charge, is the one who can make the other one move their feet." She pressed her lips together, trying to think of a way to explain it so that it wasn't sounding like she wanted Molly to do all the work. "When you go in there, and Luna runs away from you. As soon as she stops to snack on the grass and you walk towards her again, she is the one in charge of the game, as she just runs again. What you need to do is show her than running is the wrong choice on her part, and being with you is so much easier. Do you have any treats on you?" She knew that she had a carrot in her own pocket if the girl didn't have anything. "Something to tell her she made the right decision, once she's caught." Yeah, she didn't do bribery on princess ponies, but she was happy to reward a horse for the proper behaviour. "I can catch her if you'd like a demo of what I'm talking about.

Serenity had the day off work... well, she was on call, but she didn't have to be in the office, and she was going to take full advantage of that. She'd already been to the stable and played with her ponies, then she headed home to put all of her energy on her Craft, something that she had been neglecting lately, and she felt guilty for it. She'd also use this time to go through her inventory.
I need of some stock, Serenity found herself on the way to Blackthorne. She'd only been there once before, but even then she knew it wouldn't be the last time. Pulling her hair back into a high ponytail, she walked into the store and began to look around, keeping an eye on the list of candle colours she needed, though picking up a couple of soaps that caught her eye and she liked the scent of. "Do I need pink for romance? Or do I need white for clarity?" She smiled to herself as she approached the candles. "Why are you causing me this allergic reaction, universe?" Her brows rose at the conflicting emotions she could see as she studied the younger woman who was pondering over the candles. "One would think that you might want blue for calm, honesty and guidance, and purple for knowledge, wisdom and intuition." She offered. "White would work for anything, as it can be used in the absence of other colored candles as white colors contain the energy of the colors that originate from them. She selected the candle colours that she needed, as well as some pure beeswax candles.

Serenity was leaning against the fence as she watched the two horse's galivanting around the pasture, laughing when Jera decided she was going to see what she could get away with and receiving a warning kick from the chestnut Selle Français in return.
She frowned as the energy in the air changed. "Excuse me!" She turned toward the voice, realising where the energy she could feel came from. "Hi! Do you mind helping me get Luna? She's being a brat and I cannot catch her." She gave the girl a smile. "Hi. Sure I'll help you." She looked at the teenager for a moment. "Before we head back over there though, you need to close your eyes, take a deep breath in through you nose and then breathe out through your mouth, pushing your tension out with it." The girl was frustrated, and that wasn't going to help convince Luna that she wanted to be caught. "I'm Serenity."
She headed toward the pasture with the lesson horses, though her attention was pulled toward the trees that bordered the property, though she shook the feeling off as she looked at the horses grazing in the pasture. "Your job is to make Luna want to be with you, more than she wants to be out here." She said with a grin, and a shrug. "If she wants to stay in here, make her work, show her that being with you is so much more fun!" What she did with horses, other people had coined as natural horsemanship, and made money off it, she just called it common sense.

There was something in the air, Serenity could feel it and she ran her hand down Cai'Daith's nose as the chestnut mare tossed her head in the air as they walked down to the pastures. The young woman was pleased that the weather was good enough to allow her two horses to spend a little time outside. "Herne's horns, Jera!" She laughed as her young mare easily jumped out of the pasture she had been in and trotted up to join them. "You are supposed to stay on the other side of the fence!" She rubbed the youngster's forehead as the bay cross-bred mare butted into her affectionately. "Come on, I'll open the gate so you can go back in."
After releasing Cai'Daith in the pasture and watching the two mare's canter off across the snow covered grass, the chestnut mare putting the bay in her place when they youngster tried to play boss mare. Serenity looked out across the fields as she tried to work out what it was that she could feel, as there was something there. She rubbed her thumb across the pads of her fingers, though the air wasn't charged, so it was a feeling, rather than an energy.

Like everyone else, the commotion had caught Serenity's attention, and leaving what she had been sorting, she headed over in time to hear the conversation between the people gathered there already, as well as the looks passed between and at each group. She closed her eyes as she sighed as she headed back to her car for an evidence bag - a normal thing for an officer to have in their civi vehicle.
She walked back to the group and over to where child and father stood with the offending piece of clothing, holding the bag open for the jumper to be dropped inside. "Before anyone starts pointing fingers." She said in a level voice, looking at everyone standing around. "Just think for a moment. Before this party was allowed to happen, this place was scoured, with a fine tooth comb, Cadaver Dogs and all, and you think that this would have been overlooked?" She paused for a moment. "Whoever left this here went to a lot of effort to try and frame someone, but they didn't think it through very well." Leaving an item of clothing was stupid, yes, it had put everyone on edge, but it had hinky written all over it. She shook her head as she rolled the bag up and taped it closed before writing on the front of it with block letters. "I will need a chat with this Tripp Callahan, in case the top is his. Can anyone who can get my card to him come and see me before they leave, please?" The lad needed to at least know what had happened to his jumper

Rather than going to help lift and move things, which there seemed to be a number of people to do already, Reni found herself in the tack room. she could be of some use in here, as she knew a lot of people's things by sight, and she also knew what her own things looked like, though with the most basic of gear, it would be easy to replace, even if the saddle had been a custom built one due to the shape of her chestnut Sell Francais' back. "How's it going?" She asked with a smile as she walked into the tent, her eyes sweeping what had been a room, taking a deep breath as she looked at the destruction. Being in here wasn't any easier than being out there.
Walking over to the wall where the lockers were still somewhat intact, she took a notebook from her back pocket and began to pull doors open taking note of the locker number and anything in there that could be salvaged - which was more than she expected. Leaving the tent, she went out to Naomi again and asked for some boxes so she could empty the lockers and label them for the owners.
Returning, she methodically went through each of the lockers, emptying what survived the heat into the boxes and labeled the top of the box with the locker number and carried them out to the table where found things were being placed. A lot of the thinner and flammable items had burned, due to the heat that must have built inside the locker, but the likes of grooming kits and other larger solid items had been saved in the steel lockers.

Serenity was dressed in plainclothes as she walked around the area of the park that the fundraiser event had been set up. She may be here undercover, but she was pleased that she was able to come, as she wanted to support the people who had come out to support blue Acres. "A flat white, please?" She asked as she got the front of the line at the barista stall and she handed over her money with a smile as she accepted the warm travel cup. "Thank you." Walking on, she spotted the pastry stall and headed that way. "A cinnamon roll, please?" She said when her turn came. "Thank you."
The bagged roll was placed into her tote bag, something for later, and she continued to stroll around, looking at everything sipping her drink as she walked, more than pleased with not only the turnout, but the whole feel of the surrounding area.

Serenity pulled into the carpark of what used to be the Blue Acres barn, she rested her arms on the steering wheel and rested her chin on them as she just looked at the mass now in front of her. She had been the first to put her up up to investigate the fire, and the chief had told her that she was too emotionally involved, so she had told him he would have her resignation that afternoon and she would start her own private investigation. Working with the pyro-technical investigators, all they had deduced was that it had been arson but not a lot more than that.
She shook her head out of her thoughts as she sat up and opened the car door, she was here to help out with the cleaning up, and to poke around a little more. She was here as a civilian, but with the authority of her badge should anyone want to cause any trouble while here. She looked around at the number of Whites she could see, as well as the Blue Acres people. This could be a fun, fun day.
Heading toward the table where she could see Naomi standing, she gave the woman a warm smile. "Just take things one day at a time." She said softly as she gave the woman a hug, enveloping her in positive energy as well as her arms. She stepped back and glanced at the blueprints and drawings. "It's going to look amazing. Let's get it tidied up so that those images can become reality." She gave another warm smile before pulling her gloves out of her pocket, pulling them on and heading toward the mass. She wanted to go an check on her two horses out in the pasture, but knew they could wait until later.

full name: Serenity Ka'Liyah Delca
nicknames: Reni
age: 37 (14th February 1984)
religion: Witch
sexuality: Hetrosexual
marital status: single
occupation: Police Officer (sniper)
playby: Amy Jo Johnson
hometown: West Virginia
parents: Sebastijan (English Professor) and Bethany (District Attorney) Delca
siblings: Antione – big brother (45), Lawyer
brief history: Born and raised in Virginia, Serenity was literally the baby of the family, though their family held a very deep secret, they all practiced witchcraft.
Aside from their interesting choice of religion, there was nothing out of the ordinary in Serenity’s life, she went to school, joined the cheer squad, had loads of friends and did really well in school – just her lessons didn’t stop after homework was done, that was when she took lessons from her parents or big brother. She also rode horses, as their parents had a large property and owned a few pasture ornaments.
After finishing high school, Reni thought about joining the Marines and enrolled at the base. However, a month in, she decided that this wasn’t quite her calling and managed to snag herself one of the coveted spots at the FBI Academy and began to train in criminal justice and psychology. She had no intention of becoming an actual FBI agent, but joining the police force sounded interesting.
Her strengths at the academy seemed to be the psychology side of things and firearms. She ended up being quite a good marksman and accepted the offer to be trained as a sniper, receiving praises from her instructors as it seemed that she hit more often than she missed.
likes: Spiced Apple cider Scented Candles Horses Rain The Moon, The smell of the air before it rains Drawing/sketching (though she only does her artwork in her Book of Shadows)
dislikes: Push-ups Over-cooked vegetables Rodents (she’s not going to scream if she sees a mouse, but she wouldn’t want to pat one either) Abuse
strengths: Psychology, she’s pretty good at reading a person’s psyche Running Handling a gun Fitness
weaknesses: Stubborn – once she’s set her mind to doing something, not a lot can change her mind (which I guess is also a strength) A smooth talking male (as long as he’s not on the wrong side of the law)
secrets: Ah, she’s a witch Her acceptance into the FBI Academy may not have been completely legal
fears: Heights – yup, she’s a sharp shooter who doesn’t like heights Getting shot
habits: Bounces on the balls of her feet when nervous or excited Laughs when nervous Bites her nails when stressed
overall personality: Serenity is just like her name, her nature is calm and untroubled - she could almost be on drugs at times for how detached to a situation she can seem - though she stores everything away. This quality makes her great at what she is trained to do, as she is slow to anger and has no trouble talking someone down from a ledge – even if she has to take the “reality” side of things and telling them exactly what will happen as they hit the ground – though she will spend literally hours talking someone down without letting a hint of anger show through her words. She makes friends easily and will happily approach people she doesn’t know and strike up a conversation with them. Reni loves life and everything in it, living by the saying “live like you’ll die tomorrow”, and tries to have no regrets. She is fully committed to her job, so she is a stickler for rules, you break them and she’ll probably nail your ass to the wall.
this is for your RP sample. go balls to the wall and show us your writing chops!
