Luc's childhood was all about trying to grow up to be the man his father wanted him to be. Adam Beaumont was a proud man, filled with masculinity and a retired Sargent from the French army, now a craftsman. He wanted his son to be strong and make him proud, to do good for his country and his family name and join the army after his father. As a kid, Luc idolised his dad, hung upon his every word and did everything he asked in order to make his father proud. He was respectful and honest, hard working and a sweet little boy who was adored by his mother. Then his mother had a child unexpectedly when he was four.
He doted upon his little sister Elise, giving her his complete attention, loving to help his mother with her - feeding her, playing with her, settling her. His father disliked how much time he spent with his sibling, believing he should be out playing with the other boys his age. He was pushed out of the house each afternoon after school, sometimes much to his disappointment, and told not to come home till dinner. He tried to please his dad and in the effort he made friends with a young boy around his age named Avery. He fast became friends with the boy, going round to his house and one hot afternoon when water bombs were involved..he met his big brothers, and his two sisters. One of which was Kara.
He fell in love with her the moment he saw her, even at such a young age he could not help but think he was going to marry that girl. As they grew older he remained friends with Avery, hanging out with him as a teenager, becoming better friends with Kara. It was hard to remain cool around Kara when he grew older - as a teenager his feelings of the crush became stronger, but he was too anxious to ask her out and simply had to watch her date other guys - jerk guys. He thought he would never be able to ask her out, even Avery supported him for his crush despite the fact that it was his sister - Luc had always been a good guy and he became a good man, loyal and trustworthy, honest, cool headed and intelligent.
Then it happened - in the worst way possible. When he was nineteen, his little sister died. Luc had always looked after her, been protective of her, supported her and been there for her. She had been in the car with her friends and her new boyfriend. Luc had always been unsure about him, he had a good judge of character and the guy had been respectful but too... unpredictable. Still, Luc had never stopped Elise from making her own choices but he would always regret the day she died. The guy had only just passed and Luc had been dubious about her being in the car with him, but he had let her go whilst their parents had been out at work.. and then whilst playing video games with Avery he'd received the call. The guy had crashed his car, and Elise had died on impact. There was no hope, no chance she might pull through..that had been it. Dead.
He'd taken the news hard, much harder than anyone could ever have believed and he rushed to the hospital to see for himself. He had had to know if they were certain, if it really was her. Seeing her there, cold on the slab pulled him into reality. His little sister was dead. She would never see her sixteenth birthday - never learn to drive, never have her first drink, never become an adult, never get to get married or have kids or grow old.. and he would. Life was unfair. He'd flipped and gone after the guy, the only thing that had stopped him from killing the guy was Avery - who'd followed him and held him back when the punches became too much. The guy was only a kid anyway, but he had gotten away fine...he still got to live. Elise didn't.
His parents struggled, they didn't blame him but Luc felt they did deep down. He would always blame himself. He didn't know how to help himself and sank into a place so dark he thought he'd never see the light... until Kara. Kara saved him. She taught him something she loved. She shared with him her love of dancing and suddenly things began to get better. It was hard and a long journey, he knew nothing of dancing but he was a natural and over the years he improved fast, came to love it, came to love her. She saved him from himself, and brought him a new passion. They became dance partners, and whilst they began to win trophies and such his father was not so happy. He did not want some gay dancer son, he couldn't accept it. His mother encouraged him however, glad to see him better and finding herself better too.
When the wars came to France, Luc tried to ignore them. He didn't want his illusion to end, to shatter. Of course when they invaded the villages, he encouraged his friends to leave. He loved Kara and she had grown to love him too, he had planned it all..planned to marry her, gotten the ring from his mother and all. He had figured his words and the setting and all, they had been almost there and then it had all been blown by the guns and canons. The day he had been going to ask her to marry him was the day the Maccarran family ran. He never got his chance. The last thing he got to do was kiss her and tell her he loved her, before he told her to go, to leave ...that he'd be fine. He helped Dustin when they had to fight to get out, finding their parents dead and fearing for his own...but fearing for his love and his friends all the same. They escaped.
Luc tried to get his parents to leave but they refused, and all he could do was lock up the house and sit with his gun with his father, shaking like a young boy with fear. They survived...just...but it was a long battle. They lost many, they lost much and when it was over and the war moved on he found himself shattered once again with no Kara to help fix him. He couldn't dance without her, the magic wasn't there with other partners and he couldn't love it as much without her. In the end, he did what his father wanted - he joined the army. He was hard, arduous and gritted, a lot of his softer side was lost to the harsh-ness of the army. He helped to fight in the front lines and returned only a few months ago when the war returned to his home town. Once again they were driven out, but Luc couldn't do it anymore, the wars were getting worse and he feared for his life. He still couldn't get his parents to leave with his stubborn father but he could save himself, so he moved to England.

: - dancing - kara - being in control - sunsets - sitting in the middle of the French countryside - action movies - little rabbits - he thinks they're cute! - hamburgers - writing and reading classics - quiet places
dislikes: - war - the guy who killed his sister - new drivers - is wary of them - violence - pancakes - cooking - losing kara - the colour purple - big cities - driving
strengths: - intelligent - reasonably fluent in english - writing - physical combat - strategic
weaknesses: - kara - protective over girls - surprisingly sensitive deep down - mcdonalds food (loves their hamburgers and banana milkshake) - a little claustrophic
secrets: - still in love with kara - misses his little sister and doesn't go a day without thinking of her - part of him wishes he had killed the kid (drake) who'd killed his sister.
fears: - car crashes - losing kara completely
habits: - goes quiet when he's really angry about something - slips into french when he's passionate about something
overall personality: Over the years Luc has changed a fair amount over the years. There's a lot of him that hasn't changed - he's always been a bit of a gentleman and his mother taught him how to treat a lady right. He's respectful of people, especially women, and he's quite the charmer and romantic. He's cool-headed and doesn't tend to strike out unless you make him incredibly mad, and he's intelligent and often steps back and thinks before he acts. He's honest, open and a reliable, responsible kind of guy but he keeps most of his cards close to his chest - he doesn't always trust as easily as people trust him. He's caring and sweet but the army has hardened him somewhat - he's not as easy to talk to as he used to be, he's more guarded, he's less of the boy he was and a lot more man. There's a lot to him that's more than meets the eye, particularly his hurt over losing his sister and kara, his wanting to make his father proud and his country, and everything that he's lost and misses... but he's a strong, independent man and perhaps someday he'll became himself properly again.[/ul]
