it was time to seek comfort in an old friend. the rest of the house was dark as heidi sat in the kitchen, digging a spoon into a half eaten container of triple chunk chocolate icecream. everyone had long gone to bed but after a few hours awake, unable to think of anything but her run in with jason a few days ago she had given up on trying to sleep. it didn't help that his child was also currently doing everything it could to keep her awake. so she'd done the only thing she could. she scraped the spoon absently around the edge of the container as she thought about how long they'd been staying here. she would be forever grateful to quinn and arrow. they'd taken her in when she'd needed some space from jace. when she'd turned up on their doorstep in tears and furious at the man she loved because he'd held something so big back from her. there had been no question about it.
demeter kept asking her when they were going home though and it was breaking her heart that she had to keep telling her that she didn't know. she wouldn't lie to her and say soon because she didn't know but she knew it was hard on her daughter, being away from her favourite person so much. she took another bite of the ice cream as she sat there, just thinking about where the heck they were going to go from here. the problem was she and jace were as stubborn as each other and while he had more of a temper she wasn't one to bend either. she wasn't in the wrong here, he was. she didn't need his forgiveness because she hadn't done anything wrong. but that didn't stop her from sitting there and wanting to much to just drive over to their apartment and beg him for it.

it hadn't escaped her that jase was probably in this building right now. that he was within talking distance, that there was a chance she could go to him. to fall into his arms and just have him hold her tight. she missed him, she missed him so much it was painful but she was still so mad at him. so mad that he hadn't though enough to include her in what he was going through. that he hadn't thought to tell her that he thought he had a son. they had a child of their own together, they were having another one. yet he was still keeping something this big from her? it both angered and terrified her because if he could keep this from her, what else could he keep? she bit her lip a little as she touched her stomach lightly, reminding herself why she was here. to get both sides of the story. to get as much information as possible because she needed it. because she wanted to salvage this friendship, she wanted her relationship with jase to survive this and she wanted everything to turn out. she straightened a little when the door opened and she mustered what smile she could, though she was sure ashley would understand if she couldn't. "hi ashley." she stepped through the door, tucking some hair behind her head as she looked back at her friend. "i just want to get this out of the way first ... i'm not here to cause problems." she tried to reassure her. "i just, want to get to the truth."

should she be doing this? probably not. was this sticking her nose in where it didn't belong? probably. but she needed to know. this bombshell had been dropped on her from a height of big ben and she still couldn't wrap her head around it. she knew that it was between jason and ashley but she still thought she deserved to know. her partner had a son? or thought he had a son and he'd kept that from her. she took a deep breath as she steeled herself against any anger she might be feeling. she wasn't here to get angry, she was here to get the whole story as best she could. she didn't think her and jason could stay calm enough at this point to talk about it so she wanted to get whatever information she could before they talked about it. at least she might be able to salvage some friendship with ashley. dem and josh were really close friends (she didn't want to consider the fact they might be siblings yet) so she wanted something good to come out of this. so here she was, standing at their apartment door. she lifted her hand to knock quickly, half hoping that no one was home, even though she'd messaged ahead. "well here we go." she said softly as she stood there waiting.
