It had been a few weeks since their arrival, but Brooklyn Luna Hazelton believe that both she and her horse, Twilight, had settled in well. The United Kingdom had been a shock to her system between the ocean views, quaint little town, and above all, the accents. Brooklyn wasn’t used to sticking out like a sore thumb in an environment, perhaps not since her first day of riding back at Blue Moon in Texas, but even then, her accent could compete with the locals. Here – she was just a loud American.
But the young teenager didn’t mind that as long as she had Twilight with her, and unlike her little sister Carrie, she was planning on making the best of their new home. It was different, yes, but it was full of possibility and adventure, and Brooklyn felt reassured that her father’s tour would last through graduating high school – or, whatever Hickstead called High School. Her arrival at Seven Oaks hadn’t exactly gone smoothly, Twilight freaked out coming off the trailer, and she had a run in with one of the resident teenage snobs and her croney, but that certainly wouldn’t deter her.
She had a great feeling about the coming years and her stay in Hickstead, and likely would be spending as much time as she possibly could at Seven Oaks. Tacking up Twilight, she gave him a solid pat, “Are you ready to explore these trails, boy? I hear they’re to die for.” The black horse snorted, seemingly confirming that he was ready to rumble. Heading off to a mounting block, it wasn’t long before Brooklyn was seated and they walked off, leaving Seven Oaks behind and heading into the great unknown. Maybe she’d make a new friend on the trail who had nothing to do with Clarissa and Stacey.
As they came to a fork in the trails, Brooklyn stopped and pulled a map out of the pocket of her breeches, “I think…the waterfalls are...this way.” Okay, so her map was a little crude given that she had drawn it out based off of Leo White’s enthusiastic descriptions, and maybe, just maybe, Brooklyn had been distracted by the brooding boy who had been attending to his chestnut horse. Ronan, maybe? So half of this trail ride appeared to be going on a whim. But she couldn’t have gotten herself and Twilight so turned around…could she? A snort escaped her mustang, growing impatient, “Okay okay, it's this way, I’m sure of it.” With that, she squeezed him forward and went on their way, completely unaware that they were heading towards a dangerously steep drop off that was not a waterfall.
Laugh it off and let it go and when you wake up it will seem so yesterday
thanks aofie!

identifying features• Brooklyn is still growing into herself at fifteen, although she peaked at 5 foot 4 inches in 8th grade when it came to growing. She is developing into an hour glass figure, one that she is still figuring out whether its appropriate to show off or not. Brooklyn has a heart shaped face along with fuller lips and hazel eyes. Framing this is an abundance of naturally curly hair which she puts into various styles as she sees fit for the day. She has pierced ears as far as body modifications goes, and almost always rocks jodhpurs or riding tights when its barn days.

Well, that is Brooklyn to a T, but she wears it with pride. Horses weren't always her favorite thing, but when she discovered them and a knack for siting in the saddle, it became her life. Obsessing over horses aside, Brooklyn is a friendly and strong willed girl. Some find her great and others find her unbearable, and while Brooklyn knows its realistic to not be everybody's cup of tea, it deeply annoys her. She's empathic with her friends, strangers, and sometimes enemies and is always down to help, maybe a little too much given she can overstep her bounds. Brooklyn, unfortunately, also has a wild imagination which can get her in trouble and a lack of brain to mouth filter, which has strained her relationships with people of all ages and locations due to wild accusations or not agreeing with something (it's the competitive and caring streak, she swears). She defilingly takes her natural talent for granted, something that she needs to work on. Brooklyn is a terrible student, particularly for regular school work and her grades tend to suffer because of her day dreaming and is convinced its pointless given that she plans on working with horses. Like all fifteen year olds, Brooklyn is still figuring herself out but she knows for a given fact that horses are always going to be in her life.
the history
father • Major Eric Hazelton, 45, US Army mother • Lauryn Hazelton, 41, Interior Designer siblings • Carrie - One Annoying Little 13 year old sister important people • The 'Saddle Club' at Seven Oaks, the 'Bridle Club' at Blue Arces hometown • Raleigh, North Carolina, US overall history • Brooklyn was born to Eric and Lauryn Hazelton in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her parents were high school sweet hearts, and carried on through college. Her parents decided to wait a little later in life before trying to have children, given that Eric Hazelton was working on his career within the United States Army and Lauryn was working on her independent business in Interior Design - both adults wanting to make sure that their life style could support both themselves and their constant moves as well as children. Raleigh had been just another Station and deployment for Eric, and Brooklyn was lovingly named after their hometown burrow in New York City. Her sister, Carrie, followed a few years after on the tail end of their Raleigh deployment.
Growing up with her father in the military took some adjustment to Brooklyn, the first time moving when she actually had a realization that she was leaving behind her friends and what felt like roots was hard. The first move had been the hardest, but she soon grew accustomed to it. Thanks to the typically southern deployments that her father had gotten, Brooklyn had been exposed to horses early on but did not start riding them until she was thirteen and in Texas. It had been a hazard discovery when a cranky neighbor's horse made it onto their land, and Brooklyn affectionally named him Twilight.
Naturally keeping a horse on their land, especially a privately owned horse, was frowned upon by the Hazeltons. They returned him promptly, despite the fact that when they did return him, it became clear that he was not well loved for nor hardly attended to. Brooklyn begged her parents to buy the horse, but they refuted. Owning a horse was expensive, and purchasing the horse was the cheapest part. Plus, they never knew where Eric was going to deploy to next. This frustrated Brooklyn, who promptly decided that her parents didn't know her or get her, and proceeded to sneak onto the neighbor's land to visit Twilight and bond with him.
This went on for several months, Brooklyn had even bribed her younger sister Carrie to not tell their parents. But unfortunately, discoveries were made eventually, and the neighbor threaten the Hazeltons that they would call the police on Brooklyn if she did not stop visiting. Brooklyn was grounded, and in that time, she wrote what she thought was a compelling essay and power point on why she should own Twilight. Her disappearance by grounding was also noticed by Twilight, who managed to escape once more and show up on their land looking for her. After this had happened several more times in but a single week, the Hazeltons finally relented and their neighbor was getting tired of dealing with Twilight, so he was sold to them.
Brooklyn and Twilight ended up at a little barn down the way, where she made both friends and enemies due to her personality. This was also the barn that began teaching her how to ride and perhaps tooted Brooklyn's horn a little too much given how her ego grew. Still, the barn proved to Brooklyn's favorite place. She was always always there, either with her friends or hanging out with Twilight, her horse obsession continuing to grow and her school work, well, it took a hit. It didn't slide enough for her parents to notice, and thankfully, right when it was about to become obvious, the Hazeltons got their next assignment: England. And more importantly, Twilight would be coming with them.
Due to the school year end approaching, the Hazelton's held off on moving until the summer. Unfortunately for Brooklyn, her report card came in much to Eric and Lauryn's shock. While they told her this would not deter them from taking Twilight with them when they moved, they would be setting strict boundaries on how much time she could spend with him post move and how she would have to put efforts into her schooling in Hickstead, given that she would likely graduate from High School in England. Brooklyn promised, of course, her fingers were crossed behind her back. Limited time with her horse? No way.
With summer break starting, the Hazeltons packed out their house once more along with Twilight, and moved to Hickstead, settling into Oldaker Ave and Twilight set up at Seven Oaks Stables. It was only a matter of time before Brooklyn made new friends at Seven Oaks - whom they promptly called themselves the Saddle Club. They were all horse crazy, which really was the only membership rule, and the promise that friendship never died. They had big plans for horse shows, trail rides, and summer adventures. Sometimes they giggled about boys, sometimes even girls, but mainly horses. Unfortunately, they also had their rivalries with another group of girls from Blue Arces - which didn't help they crossed paths regularly out on the trails or at the horse shows when they cheered their fellow riders.
And while Brooklyn was certain she'd run into these girls once school started, she found herself none too worried. After all, its summer vacation, and at the end of the day, the only room in her heart is that of Twilight.
