William was born in Alabama in a very strict religious family. He left the state when Tempe was four as he decided to marry someone that didn't fit God's plan. William moved to Hickstead with his wife who has family in the area. He was very welcoming when Tempe ran away from home, taking her in right away.

Temperance got the short end of the stick since she was born. Her childhood life was rough, as she was raised in a very strict religious household. Friends were limited except for the twelve other siblings her parents popped out.
Growing up, Temperance was the black sheep – as her imagination ran wild. She wanted to listen to non-religious music and didn’t want to date with her parents looming over her. Her life came to halt when an awful situation happened, making Temperance get pregnant by one of her father’s church friends. The only thing her father told her was that she showed too much shin. Her only option was to wed and raise a family, but Temperance ran.
She fled at fifteen to her mother’s brother who had left the family before Temperance was born. He welcomed her with open arms, being there as she gave birth to her son at sixteen. Life was a massive adjustment. Temperance became overstimulated, which mixed with post-partum. It landed her in rehab at eighteen.
After treatment, Temperance finally got her life together. With no education, she began helping her uncle with his Hardware shop and picked up some shifts at the hotel housekeeping. While her desire to get a degree of some sort is there, Temperance works to make sure her son has the life he needs. She has told him how he came about when he asked, but she worries that her son will leave her for it.
Tempe continues to work, overcoming her past and fighting the urges. She has been eight years sober – but it’s still an uphill battle. She sees a therapist three times a week and tries to keep a schedule.
