He shrugged lazily and jerked his chin towards the clock hanging on the kitchen wall. "School finished an hour ago dumb ass."
Jace shrugged, he didn't care what time it was. It just seemed to him like it was too early for Link to be home. Hearing the back door open, he turned back to look and spotted Derek coming into the kitchen for whatever reason.
"Hey, thanks." He said, gesturing to the food.
"What trouble did you get into now?"
"I-" He didn't get to say much as Link interjected.
Link snorted and rolled his eyes. "Been running his mouth again obviously." He said.
"The better question to ask him is what didn't he do." He smirked slightly, agreeing with Mav. "Are you cooking that or burning it?"
"How're you doing?" He asked, looking back to Mav.
Jace finished his glass and set it in the sink with a shaking hand, feeling threatened and cornered with so many bodies in one space, not that it ever mattered to his brothers. They all liked to pick on him.
"I didn't ask for the assessment," Jace growled back, his eyes looking between them all, "What the fuck would any of you know anyway my day. You didn't give a shit last week, last month, ever really so shut the fuck up."
He leaned back on the counter and started picking at his knuckles so that he didn't have to focus on them as much. He just had to find a way out of the room before they all dived on him and attacked.
It was late, another Saturday night, with the rain coming down heavy outside. Jace had been absent the whole day, having left his phone turned off and on the side table in his room. He had simply slipped out before the sun had risen and was only just returning, not quite ten o'clock. He was drenched through, hair hanging in front of his face like a bowl of limp, scraggly noodles. He was cold, but he couldn't have been bothered to try and get out of the rain, having spent the entire day simply walking around in circles and ultimately having sat down at his mother's grave for a few hours at some point.
He didn't know or care if there was food left over for him from dinner, or even if his siblings were awake or if his father was already passed out on the couch yet. None of that mattered as he trudged in through the back door, leaving plenty of wet, muddy shoe prints on the grey tiles. He slipped out of those shoes and walked through to the kitchen, looking for whatever he felt like eating - not that there was much that he wanted to eat, because he didn't know any more. He was so used to things just being handed over to him by his parents and told to eat it.
Brushing back his hair from his face, he pulled a random biscuit from one of the containers and began gnawing on it with disinterest, staring out the kitchen window with a blank expression, oblivious to the puddle of water forming around his feet.
Jace was already home from school. He'd left after getting into a fight with several older boys who had decided he was their enemy. It was needless to say that seven against one was not fair or favorable odds, and despite his very best efforts, he'd been pushed into the ground and given what for.
So well before lunch time he had limped his way into the house, ignoring his father as he went to the bathroom and examined the cuts and bruises on his skin. The person in the mirror didn't look like him, didn't feel like him. But it was wearing the same bruises and cuts, healing and new. The tears had come suddenly and unexpectedly, so he drowned them under freezing cold water for almost an hour before he stepped out and gone to his room, fishing out fresh clothes and subsequently passed out on the floor for a few hours.
It was the sound of the front door opening and closing that woke him. Whatever faint slivers of happiness were in his dreams broke apart and he frowned. It annoyed him. He got up, finding his throat dry and wandered down to the kitchen, his hair all over the place as entered. Spotting Link on the counter, he frowned.
"The fuck are you doing home already?" he grumbled, grabbing a glass from a cupboard.
He yawned and winced a little bit as a bruise pulled at him, before he turned on the tap and filled his glass. He looked tired, but that was never anything too unusual considering that he was known to stay up all night doing his own thing. He was sporting a new cut on his forehead and his lip was busted, knuckles bruised, arms grazed, nothing too weird either.
The Breckah clan is a large family of boys that have recently lost their mother. There are only a handful of things that need to be kept in mind when taking one of the Breckah boys, but otherwise, most things are open to interpretation. The hows, whys, whens and wheres are open to you, just keep those bullet points in mind. I am also here for any questions, so just toss them at me and I will answer. Discord or PM here.

the history
father • Shaun Gavin Breckah, 43, Boxing Coach mother • Tracy Breckah - Deceased siblings • Keith, Derek, Stephen, Elias, Austin, Paul and Connor important people • --- hometown • Hickstead, England overall history • Jace was the fifth boy born into the Breckah family, unplanned and unwanted. His early life was fairly simple, basic - cared for, looked after, kept out of the way of the hazardous way of life the family had. His parents were not rich by any means, and with Jace now around, the small house became more cramped than ever. Even still, they managed to jostle everything together and made it work.
As Jace got older, it was clear something was not quite right about him which got him into his share of troubles. He had problems articulating certain sounds, and even more trouble doing simple tasks such as reading and writing. His mother even began to note his strange emotional responses to various things. She knew her son wasn't right, but she dismissed the idea, figuring it was just a stage. Jace struggled with many things, even being social with his own siblings was hard on him but his parents pushed anyway.
And then in came Austin, adding to the Breckah clan, which resulted in them having to move into a larger house. Jace was baffled there was another child in the house, one smaller and louder than he was comfortable with. Jace didn't like being around Austin, often running the opposite direction of his newest sibling. Even as he started preschool, his teachers knew he wasn't quite right - refusing to go into class, sitting in the back ignoring what was going on. They could get him to work on arts and crafts, but never anything else.
As he got older, things got hard for Jace to understand. He would get disruptive and argue with his school teachers, get into full blown fights with other kids on a few occasions, left school grounds. Even at home when his siblings tried to get him to play, Jace would turn violent in a heart beat. His parents would send him to his room more often than not, where he would retreat to his top bunk bed and curl up in a corner. His erratic behavior continued, if anything worsened with the arrival of more brothers. He avoided them or picked on them, fought or was bullied and Jace never understood which way was up anymore.
Things continued as they always did, Jace getting into trouble with school and when he went home, dropped off by police when he simply didn't go to school or was out way too late. Going into his teenage years, it was horrendous as Jace struggled through school and all that came with growing up. More suspensions, more fights, more arguments. It became common to see Jace chilling out on the roof of the house as he just stared at the sky, not doing a thing, seemingly ignoring his parents requests to get down. Things stayed the same.
Until recently.
The Breckah clan was made one member less when their mother took a sudden heart attack in her car on the way home from work, the vehicle drifting into on-coming traffic. Jace didn't react the news like most would've expected, shrugging it off - which caused a huge fight between Jace and his family. No one could understand Jace's nonchalant behavior. Since the funeral of his mother, Jace has been even more chaotic and unreliable - his brother's having to step in to help their grieving father function. Jace has recently taken to stealing his father's cigarettes and smoking them, and is very confused as to why his father stays up late into the night, drinking and yelling at him for nothing.
Other - Jace is undiagnosed with Dyslexia, and Schizophrenia, hence why he acts odd and inappropriate at times as well as struggles with school.
