Due to her parents professions, they travelled often, leaving Tenaya with her grandfather until they got back. Her grandfather was used to raising boys, so Tenaya wasn't raised any differently. She learned how to ride horses, help check the fence line and just about anything else one would do on a Ranch. She wasn't exactly the smartest in school, until it came to Woodworking, then she felt she was in her element. When she was in her parents care, she rebelled often. They wanted her to be a "proper princess" and wear very feminine clothes.
When she had first watched a farrier work on a horse, she knew that's what she wanted to do as a profession. She applied to attend Olds College for their farrier course. Her parents didn't approve. Tenaya didn't care and packed up her things to move to Olds, Alberta for her year long course. She loved everything about it and was sad when it was time for her to graduate. She didn't want to go back to her parents, so her Grandfather suggested that she move to the UK. Her dad's sister was living in Hickstead and recently became a widow. Tenaya decided to wait on her move, getting a job offer from a local Ranch to be their farrier and ranch hand. She gladly accepted and began working there.
A few months into her working there, the barn she was working at went bankrupt and someone had set the barn on fire. This left Tenaya jobless and gladly took the offer to move to Hickstead with her aunt. When she arrived, her aunt had Coltrane waiting for her. She had never had a horse of her own so she is excited start work with him and as a farrier for Diesel Ranch.
