The Salon finally had slowed down after the back to school rush. It had seemed that everyone wanted to book appointments with the salon workers. She had decided to close the salon for one day to allow her staff to have a well deserved day off. Hope herself found herself at Seven Oaks to visit Pearl. The poor mare had been slightly neglected by her, though the barn staff were happy to keep the mare in shape until things slowed down.
She kissed Tom on the forehead before she left for the barn, knowing he was busy with work as well recently. The woman drove off to the barn, blasting music from her phone to give her company. When she arrived, the blonde parked her car and headed into the main barn, smiling when she saw Jules had the same idea. "Hey stranger, you here to spend time with your horse too on your day off?" She knew the man well enough now to know he'd go along with the joke. "Do you have time to ride together?" She asked, turning to greet the bay mare who was in her stall. Hope smiled and reached her hand out, petting the mare on the forehead when she stuck her head out of her stall window.
Jules was looking forward to exercising Blanche during his lunch hour. He didn’t know how much he could give her, but a jaunt around seemed to be the best thing for her. Jules would happily give her a longer ride after work, but he liked giving her the attention she desired when he could.
He was brushing her when someone approached him and called out. Jules looked up and smiled. “Ah, hello Hope. Well, if only it was my day off,” he joked. “Just figured I’d give Blanche some attention on my lunch break. I don’t know how much of a ride I can give her right now, but if you’re planning on just a small jaunt around -I’m sure I could give that to you. I’m sure she’ll just be happy to be walked around a bit.”
“Close down the salon for the day?” Jules asked, moving his hand to Blanche’s mid-back.
Hope often forgot her employees sometimes had second jobs, though the program the salon used allowed them to block off the days they were off - or when they were working their other jobs. She was very understanding and allowed her employees to juggle their own schedules. She reached out her hand allowed the bay Morgan mare to sniff her hand. "Oh darn, I thought maybe the White's would give you the same day off? Busy day today?" It was close to the middle of the month, which meant the potential of people leaving Seven Oaks or moving in was high.
She opened the stall door and let herself inside, moving now to take the mare's burgundy stall sheet off. "That's fine! I have a house to clean and laundry to do after this." She typically did this on her day off, though the salon was only closed on Sundays. There was always things to do there - even if she didn't have any clients. Sundays were saved for any salon emergencies too. "How is Blanche doing anyway?" The blonde took a quick glance at the other bay mare as she folded the stall sheet and hung it on the blanket rack on the stall door. "Did you two compete this year?" She had done a few classes, hoping that Western classes would pick up around Hickstead.
Hope excused herself, walking off towards the tack room. She unlocked her locker and pulled out her grooming kit, bringing it back to the mare's stall. She caught Jules's question and nodded before entering Pearl's stall. "I figured we all needed an extra day off this week, especially after everyone wanting haircuts for back to school." She could tell how tired her staff was - work burnout was a real thing. Hope pulled out the rubber curry comb and started brushing the mare. "Were you scheduled to work here today? I would have made it a different day if I knew that."
