Unlike his older sister, Harlow, Wendell enjoys what she calls peasant clothing. Thrifting? All about it. His hair is always in a puff of brown curls, adding to his family's failed appearance. But if Wendell wants to, he will happily put some more curl-defining treatment. There are often times his mother insists he straighten his hair because his curls could make him look…like a bastard. But he’s smart enough to not have it eaten at him. If anything, it fuels him to keep going – playing his life like a game of chess. He’s learned how to work both sides of the coin, something his parents haven’t quite picked up on yet. Wendelle can play the perfect boy, but will happily, albeit secretly, undo the threads of the Alenko family. Mainly, because his mother desires him to carry the family line, and Wendell will quite happily use this info to get what he wants. For a child they kind of ignore them, they can manipulate them when needed. With his friends, he’s quite chatty – often a humble young man. There are times that his privilege appears, but he acknowledges that he has it. If anything, Wendell is making sure he rides it out until he gets whatever measly (but still a massive amount) of inheritance. Even though he squirrels his money, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t want a slice of the bigger financial pie. Other than most of his household, he views people as his equals, often chatting with people his family will often ignore. Born on Christmas Day, Wendell’s birth was never celebrated, at least not by his parents and older sister. Growing up? What’s worse than a nightmare? He was taught early on that everyone is against you and you needed to slit their throats. It was as if there was a certain level of paranoia that shrouded the children of the Alenko household. One could say…a family version of the Hunger Games. Wendell was thankfully young enough that it didn’t change him too much. But he did witness it between Harlow and the middle sister. The amount of screaming, and strands of hair being pulled. If he remembered correctly, someone needed surgery on an ear lobe from a grabbed earring. If it wasn’t over a boy, a pedigree horse, it could be over a simple eyeglance. Or the simple accusation of someone using the other's perfume. He never partook in the battlefield, something his father deemed weak. But Wendell was secretly plotting in the background. A silent observer, he knew what his parents asked of him, and he learned the game of chess they played. But that didn’t mean he didn’t form an alliance with the second oldest. It was a hidden one, for the most part. But they did play it up, often resulting in Harlow getting some strong words at one point in her life. While not hiding in plain sight in the family mansion, Wendell can be found at his mother’s sister’s house. Still a mansion, it was tamer. It wasn’t as white marble sterile. It actually felt like life. There, he learned a lot about the world -knowledge he would use to begin manipulating his parents. Wendell honed his skills in piano, sailing, and dressage. Three attributes that equaled a well-cultured man in parents’ eyes. Hobbies of a rich man’s son, one could say. He convinced his mother to send him to classes that discussed science and nature because it would be useful for future hotels. However, he was getting more involved towards his goal of botany and environmental science. His camping trips were to help scout out the land, but it was to spend time with his middle sister and his aunt. Where nature healed them a bit. He's a solid equestrian, and pushes himself when needed - but it isn’t his whole personality. Wendell happily rides at Blue Acres, only competing when he feels the need. It keeps his parents off his neck for the most part.
