Their father mentally abused both girls. Their parents divorced when they were nine years old. The divorce didn't really become final until the girls were 15 years old, since neither parent really had enough money to pay for a lawyer. After the divorce was finalized, both girls had to go through counseling and several visits to the psychiatrist after moving in with their mother. While Rory found comfort in Horses, Taylor found love in taking care of animals meant for fiber arts. Their elderly neighbor, Millie Mae, taught Taylor how to spin fiber in her teens – allowing Taylor to have something to help put her mind at ease. She followed Rory to the University of Hickstead, taking part in their fiber arts and agriculture courses. Unfortunately, Taylor found that school wasn’t for her, and dropped out of university after one and a half years. She found traveling and learning from farmers and other fiber artists were more beneficial to her. Taylor returned to Hickstead when she was twenty-eight and bought an alpaca and angora farm from a family wanting to retire. The animals were well cared for, but her house is still very much a fixer-upper. As she continues to fix her house up, Taylor can be found teaching spinning and fiber arts at community centers. She frequents a lot of wool and fiber festivals in her vintage van that she had converted into a traveling shop.
