daughter, 6. danny, nephew. blake, nephew. hometown • bakewell, UK. overall history • for all of three years adam oliver was the doted on first and only child of daniel and cassandra oliver. slowly but surely that would change as his parents continued to add sibling after sibling to the annual family christmas card. luckily adam didn't resent his younger siblings coming into the picture. it just meant more people he could make laugh, more people he could tease and more people he could drop in it when he caused trouble and didn't want to be caught. it was a sweet life until his younger siblings started to talk and then the jig was up because they ratted back on him. life was loud and chaotic and he loved it. he liked knowing what his siblings were up to and he made sure to keep track because he never knew when he'd need something big to distract his mum and dad for his own behavior he met the girl he'd eventually marry when he was ten years old. he'd tried to steal a ball from her to impress his mates and get a good laugh in but she'd turned around and landed a solid right hook into his eye and he'd fallen for her then and there. with his humbled attitude and his one heck of a shiner he apologized to her and the rest was history. literally. they were together all through high school through the dates, proms and events. he didn't have eyes for anyone else while he was with her and that was solidified when they married at the age of eighteen, surrounded by family and friends that had tried to talk them both out of it but they were both set on it. it was something of a rushed decision though because straight out of high school, adam had applied to join the navy. he'd never wanted to go to university and he'd always felt drawn to the armed services and since he'd always had a fascination with the ocean he settled on the navy. he served in the navy for twelve years, in and out of the country, participating in deployments all over the world and in his role as mine clearance diver he got to experience all sorts of interesting situations. it was the navy who fostered his love of diving, any chance he got he was in the water, even if it was a job not many other people wanted. his hand would always go up for a chance to don the suit and do his job and even sometimes things outside of his job. it wasn't all diving and mines though, two years into his service he started to study marine biology and while working he graduated to become a marine biologist. it just gave him even more incensement to get into the water because wherever they went there was different marine animals and he's seen so many different species he can't believe it. he's got notebooks full of notes he's made since he started sailing. his home life changed and grew while he was at sea to. he and his wife welcomed two children and looking back he does see how he let her down. he let his wife down so much because he wasn't there for her. he was there for his children as much as he could be. he spent his leave showering them with his attention and his love and he called them as much as he could while he was away and while he talked to his wife and saw her while he was ashore she easily faded into the background because he didn't want his kids to feel like they weren't important to him. he knows he was an idiot and he wasn't blindsided when she took the time to pull him aside one shore leave and she told him she was leaving him. at first they talked about working it out, trying to figure out someway that it could be fixed but she wasn't happy and they both knew it wasn't healthy to stay together just because of their children. they could be better parents apart. it did make him sit down and seriously consider how he was living his life. he loved his job and the life it gave him but it wasn't anything compared to how much he loved his children. it took him six months to decide but he did resign from the navy, with a promise to come back once his children were grown. he followed his ex wife so he could be close to his kids and so that they could share custody of them. with a stroke of luck she moved only fifteen minutes away from one of his younger sisters skye, so he moved to hickstead and brought himself a house. he also purchased a boat and took a job at a local research center for marine animals. he's also got his qualifications to teach scuba diving as a side hustle so he can keep himself busy on the weeks he doesn't have emmerson and caelyn. though he has had to take some time off from his busy schedule recently. he should have known better but that really means nothing in the moment. during some stormy weather recently he stayed out a little bit too long in the water, he was on his own so he didn't think it would be a problem. he knows exactly how many stupid misjudgments he made that day, his ex wife and siblings have berated him for them since. he's got a feeling he'll never live it down. he managed to get his boat back to port and docked without too much hassle. however in his haste to get onto the dock, he slipped down the metal stairs on his boat and landed wrong. he came out of it with a broken ankle and a dislocated knee. once rescued and safe and warm in hospital he let his family know so the dressing downs could start. thankfully though it was his left leg so he's still been pushing himself to keep doing part of his job he's just going through withdrawals from not being allowed to go into the water. so he's working on healing his leg, keeping up with his kids and not
