He's generally nice to a fault, and can be blindly loyal at times. Cam was a smaller child, and more often than not was sick, and grew very attached to his mother - as his father was not all that interested in their runty child when he had two stronger boys that would carry the family name to future heights. Cam stuck to his mother's side as he grew up, but little did he know of his mother's sickness that would take her away from him at the age of seven. Cam watched his mother slowly fade away over a span of two years, as disease ran wild in her body. When Abigail passed in her sleep, Cam was roughly woken and informed by his father that his mother was dead before leaving him to deal with it. Cam spent several weeks after that continuing to blindly search for his mother, asking at dinner when she was coming home - as he did not understand the finality of what had transpired. It was in the third week, after days on end of asking the same pointless question that Bradley snapped, back-handing his youngest son with enough force to topple the child to the floor and with black-fury, screamed at his son. It was the start of many things to come in Cameron's life. Cameron became the target of his father's rage and grief, drilling in so many different things into his young head that would have long lasting effects later in life. The physical abuse was sporadic and unpredictable, and Cam simply went numb. By the age of ten, Cam had effectively shut down and stopped trying to defend himself. His older brothers took turns picking on him at home, and the bullying in school took its pound of flesh in turn, but still he kept going home. Repeatedly reminded of his lack of worth, compared to numerous times to his successful brothers, Bradley decided that he would move out of Hickstead to go to America, and leave his youngest behind in the care of a family-friend. Grant Banner was kind enough in the public eye, seen by those who knew him as a good friend for taking in a troubled teenager and attempting to help straighten him out, but it could not have been further from the truth. Grant saw the boy as a leech on his life, but was paid a handsome amount to have him stay. Grant likewise taught Cameron many valuable lessons - what alcohol did to a man when he consumed too much and decided that it was ok to beat a sleeping teen, and what it felt like to be completely betrayed by someone he thought he could trust. Sleeping in the basement fearing for what might or might not come. Isolation was not uncommon for Cam, dropping out of school by the age of 16. His fear of enclosed spaces came from a night where he was locked into a small cupboard for several long hours, begging to be let out. Finally breaking, Cameron went into a blind rage murdering Grant in his bed as he slept. Somehow he remained calm enough to clean up, pack up and leave. Ever since then Cameron has lived on the streets, sleeping anywhere he can and keeping his head down. He has random flash-nightmares of what he has done and what was done to him, and has frequent voices in his head that are both comforting and disturbing. His nightmares are vivid, almost like they are lucid - unable to stop what is playing out around him. He lives in fear of his past and will search for any given way out; resorting to thieving and the break and enter of about a dozen private properties. the role player |
