brief history:
Memphis was born and bred in Hickstead to an 18-year-old Iris. Despite the father never being around and not wanting to have an abortion, Iris gave birth to Memphis a month after graduating high school. With the help of her parents and close friends, Iris was able to raise her son to the best of her abilities; picking odd end jobs to pay for his food and diapers.
At the age of 21, Iris met a young man named Matthew Hall. He promised her the world and a few months in dating; Iris became pregnant. This time, with two twin girls with Down Syndrome, Amber, and Jenna. When the twins were born, and their disability more apparent, Matthew left because he didn’t want disabled children--leaving Iris to care for her three children on her own.
Iris worked even harder now, to care for three little mouths. Memphis and his sisters on occasion would see their grandparents more than their mother.
When Iris worked, Memphis’ grandparents often took him and his sisters to the beach and marina. His grandfather was the first person to introduce him to the world of fishing and boats. Greg would show Memphis how to fish while Lauren would show the twins how to quilt.
Over the years, Memphis' honed his skills as a fisherman and boat mechanics. At the age of 13, he would begin to head out into the dark waters of the Atlantic with his grandfather when Iris permitted.
After Memphis had finished Secondary, Iris had enough money to move her and her children into their home. As much as she loved living with her parents, she wanted to give her kids a home of their own.
For most of his younger years, Memphis worked the waters of the Atlantic until the age of 28. By then, the waters of the Atlantic were low on fish. There were stricter regulations now, lowering in the income of cod and other Atlantic -based species. The hit on the fishing industry forced Memphis to become a permanent land lubber.
The past four years, Memphis has been working at the Marina, fixing boats when they need fixing. He fishes on occasion, but not enough to make a living off of it. For the most part, Memphis is often helping his mother and grandfather at the family owned bait shop if he isn't on the docks.

dislikes: Tourists, cheapskates, mixed drinks
strengths: Fishing, Boat Mechanics
weaknesses: Making Friends, Keeping a steady relationship, large social interactions
secrets: Makes boats by hand like the old ways and enjoys doing the whole boat in a bottle. He hides this knowing that people will flock to his garage to watch.
fears: Death from unnatural causes
habits: Smokes 3-5 cigarettes a day, wakes up at 6am M-F for the most part
overall personality: Memphis is far from kind to those that aren't close to him. He has a cold air to him, especially to those who are tourists. Despite the money that tourists bring in, Memphis believes foreigners are the reason his business is losing money. Before tourism boomed, the fish were plenty. Now, he is barely scraping by with fishing and has had to pick up a job working as a boat mechanic at the marina.
Despite his coldness, Memphis can soften up to you. It will take a while but, it’s a possibility to befriend him. He has a fondness towards single parent families because he knows how hard that life can be, as well as kids who are born with Down Syndrome.

What a long ass day at work today. Gramps had him up at 3:30 am and as much as Cal was used to the wake-up, the day before, he had a little too much to drink. But he never complained about such things near his grandfather. Cal was smart enough just to brave through it all since Gramps would smack him across the head to man up.
Greg let him out earlier, which was unusual, but Cal took it as a chance to walk to the grocery store in town to pick up a few things he needed for dinner. It wasn't much that he was living on his own, but he figured that he could treat himself to a nice steak. Expensive, sure, but he craved a nice piece of steak that still bled a bit. Recently, he had been eating a lot of leftovers and so on since he wasn't one to waste; a habit his mother hammered into his head growing up.
Cal cleaned up at home, taking a shower to rid any remaining fish guts and scaled before heading out to get himself an excellent fillet mignon to douse in butter and enjoy on his back deck. After drying himself and combing through his blonde hair, he headed out.
Wanting to enjoy the warm early evening, Cal decided to walk. No matter how tired he was, he wanted to benefit from the bounty of Fiore’s nature before foreigners destroyed it. He had decided to walk along the coast for as long as he could before having to force himself to head into town.
A half mile down Pelican, Cal felt another person bump into him. A frown crossed his lips as he noticed a young woman bending down to pick up loose papers, nervously apologizing. “Yeah, you should watch where you are going,” he said coldly. But, Cal wasn't too heartless to not help. He crouched down and began picking up whatever the woman didn’t. His hazel eyes had glanced over the papers briefly and smirked at the words. Love, poems? What a weirdo.
“Here,” he said, handing what he had to the woman after she stood up. She had a beautiful face. Blonde hair and clear blue eyes. Cal had seen her before, in town, but never talked to her.
