brief history: Naomi's birth father died in a car collision a month before she was born. The driver of the other car was horribly drunk and was driving full speed on the wrong side of the road. It didn’t take her mother too long to get over it as she was married again before her only child was even born – the stepfather wasn’t too impressed when his new wife went into labour during their honeymoon, so it didn’t start off very well for Naomi – that and the fact that she was the leftovers of her mother’s previous marriage.
Derik saw sport groups as an excellent way to get the girl out of the house, so he talked his wife into signing her up for as many as she could so she would become a “well-rounded individual” Derik just didn’t expect her to be so good at everything she did as she got older. It helped him that her British mother was an internationally acclaimed rider.
For her 8th birthday her mother signed Naomi up for Pony club and as luck would have it, one of the members was selling her old pony so Naomi got him too. She loved going to PC each month and picked things up very quickly, but asked if she could just grade with the rest of the class, as she had made really good friends with two other members; Sarah and India.
A year later Naomi was standing ringside, watching as her mother tackled a very complicated jumping course, on her beautifully trained mare, when the mare’s feet slipped on take-off and was unable to get over the jump. The mare landed on the jump with a horrible crack before she fell sideways onto my mother! The area was silent, all that could be heard was the groaning from the fallen animal. After what seemed like a lifetime, the paramedics ran into the ring with the vet. The mare was helped to her feet, but the injuries were too horrific that they had to do what was best and put the animal out of her misery.
Her mom? When the mare rolled, she was impaled by one of the broken poles. Naomi was assured that she had died instantly, but she had her doubts.
Naomi took up a position as an assistant for my gymnastics coach, to get her away from the sudden affections of Derik. It suddenly seemed that he couldn’t get close enough to her, like he had decided she would just take her mother’s place. He made it very clear that everything that happened between us was her fault and she was never to tell anyone, so she didn’t. He governed everything Naomi ate – he wouldn’t let her eat anything that would blemish her complexion - and how much exercise she did – and still it was too never enough. It became his life goal to turn her into the perfect image he had in his head.
Once he found a new wife, Derik couldn’t get rid of his step-daughter fast enough. After looking around at different boarding schools, he found one in that was willing to take her on. As he never told Naomi anything about the school or let her have any say in what was said to them, she's headed to a school she knew nothing about. To her horror it was an equestrian school, where she had spent the last eight years hiding from horses. Rather than hiding any more, she took the sport back up and became a very accomplished horsewoman.
Graduating high school she became extremely successful in the horse business, following right in her parents' footsteps. Needing to escape all the memories of her past, she left the States and went to live with her mother’s family – whom Derik wouldn’t allow her to have any contact with while she lived in his house – and went to the University of Combridge to get her business degree and upon graduation went back to showing and training full time.
When she was 22, Naomi discovered that in her father’s last will and testament, she had been left not only enough money to leave her never having to work another day in her life but had also been given the title of some land out in Hickstead that had only a farmhouse on it. She saw the opportunity and immediately started renovating to what she aspires to be the most modern and stylist ranch in the UK. With that determination she wants more than anything to live up to the prestige of her parents – as when moving to live with her family here in the UK, she had learned that her father was as much the accomplished rider as her mother.
Along the way she reconnected a certain Jacob Thorne. The Thornes were old family friends of her fathers and Jacob seemed to be the perfect business partner.
A few years later, Naomi sits atop her beloved dream, full of potential. With the rivalry, she's fighting harder than ever to keep this stable to perfection, all while juggling her whirlwind personal life. She also needs to make sure she actually gets a good return on her investment. [/font][/ul]
dislikes: Not being able to complete a task she has set for herself, heights, people that treat girls like they are made of glass, people that take advantage of smaller and/or weaker people and animals, the smell of freshly cut grass.
strengths: She is very business minded and good with numbers. She can find market strategy and has a silver tongue that charms the pants off people, especially potential clients. She's a very talented and skilled trainer and rider as well. Very passionate about her drive to win. Good eye for horses.
weaknesses: She has a tendency to just throw money at her problems when she's tired of them, which doesn't actually fix much. Comes across as quite harsh sometimes. Resident mean girl. Trust issues. Sometimes works so hard she forgets to take care of herself.
secrets: She's afraid that no one likes her.
fears: Failure, spiders, losing, looking weak, doubt.
habits: She's a real stickler about manners. Every hair and collar must be in place, she strives for perfection. Prefers tea to coffee.
overall personality: Naomi is… A bubbly, happy-go-lucky person. Her school reports would say things like: She gets along with others and will go out of her way to help people that need it. And not a lot has changed since then.
Rather than being the type of person to sit on the sidelines, if there is anything happening, work or play, Andie will be right there in the thick of it. Even though her nails always appear perfectly manicured, she isn't afraid of getting her hands dirty.
With that said though, she will come off as those who don’t know her as a complete snob, an she is very vain about her own looks, and this comes off as her judging others by their looks – which is why she always makes sure that her property and business is completely up to par and always looks tidy.
While she doesn’t (hasn’t and never will) ride western, she won’t look down her nose that those who do as she knows all the work that goes in to riding a horse, so it doesn’t matter too much to her what discipline you ride, as long as you ride it well.[/ul][/size][/ul]
