It was funny, Teddy Beauchamp never thought that he would end up at Avalon Gallery to look at ceramics and yet, here he was. Living in Hickstead for over a year, the young man always knew of its presence in the next town over. He had walked by it a few times when he decided to grace the bigger city of Willow Bridge, and he even followed them on Instangram, but it never occurred to Teddy that he should actually visit. But now he was in a sculpture class and perhaps, immaturely, had a girl that he wanted to impress, so he felt like now it was time to pay the little gallery a visit. So Teddy had called himself an uber and headed into the city now, being dropped off promptly in front of Avalon.
Heading inside, Teddy was greeted with warm lights and a variety display of ceramic pieces boasting in all different shapes, sizes, and glazes. The display was precise and yet alluding, but there was always a method to the madness when it came to gallery displays. He had learned that from one of the business classes - it required an eye and also knowing how to command a visitor's gaze. After all, while galleries were nice for foot traffic, they did actually want to sell pieces. Chocolate brown eyes looked over the various pieces now, moving his way through each carefully crafted section. He had also snagged one of Alana Teal's business cards.
He was stopped in front a bunch of pots now, feeling a little envious that he wasn't making these sorts of sculptures in his class. No, instead, he was stuck with naked models for now and he didn't know why. Seemed too advanced compared to a mug or a pot, but Teddy wasn't dumb, he knew they had their own unique techniques. Normal people couldn't just bang them out perfectly just like that. He held up the business card again, glancing it over. Should he contact Alana for some pointers? Tutoring sessions? He was three weeks into class and wasn't getting anywhere. Not that his professor expected greatness from him, they knew his concentration was in mixed media and comics, but they probably expected him to put in work.
And then there was Ida. The redhead who sat next to him. He wanted to impress her, and while she clearly didn't mind showing him the ropes, Teddy didn't want to keep on dragging her over to help when Ida needed to concentrate on her own work. Teddy bit his lip, thinking, and had been unware of an approaching figure until they spoke, “They’ve got quite the collection here!” a female voice said, “I’ve never been here before. Have you?” He looked over now to see a beanpole of a young woman, finely dress, with a sharp features and a hair cut to match. He offered her a smile, "Nah, I am sad to admit that this is my first time, but I've known about it for quite a while. It didn't occur to me to visit until I ended up in sculpture class this semester." Dang, maybe he shouldn't have outed himself as a college kid. Whatever, he was old enough, "I'm Teddy," he offered now, "Are you into the art scene?" Oddly enough, there was something about her that seemed familiar - like he should know her, not personally, but in the semi famous sense.

Teddy was in shock that they had only been a few days into the new semester only for a teacher to turn around and give them a paper. At least it was creative writing, so it was about the importance and impact of comic books and graphic novels in the literature world. But still. Papers. They were the worst. Took up time and concentration, not to mention, another person to edit them. Given that outside of art, Teddy had the attention span of a gnat sometimes, he had to go somewhere serious to get his work done aka not his room. But the library had been oddly slammed and all the good parts were taken up, so he headed to the class halls to find a place to escape.
He had been lucky then, and had remained rooted to the spot since. He bit his lip, thinking his way through his thoughts and the point he wanted to make. It wasn't easy, mainly because he felt like people who thought the works of old authors like Jane Austen and William Faulkner would automatically turn up their noses at graphic novels, considering them for children when that really wasn't the case. There was no doubt in his mind that his professor would be just the same way. But he was growing tired of looking at that screen, his brain starting to run thin, and his chocolate eyes began to wander.
And just like that, another girl appeared. She didn't even seem to notice him as she selected a far more comfier chair and propped her feet up on the coffee table, her eyes already glued to her computer as she typed away. Teddy knew he shouldn't talk to her, she was working, and he should respect that, but his brain was dead, so he couldn't help but to comment, "One of your professors already through a paper your way too?" he asked now, "And here I thought Professor Brown was the only jerk to do such a thing."

the appearance
face claim• Joe Keery
identifying features• Teddy gives off that classic All-American Boy type that people love to hate. With his 5 foot 10 height and his lean frame, he can blend into the college scene quite well. He has a strong jaw that looks like you can break your hand on and chocolate brown eyes, with a mop of messy brunette hair to match. He tries to keep clean shaven but even he can fall guilty to leaving some 5 o'clock shadow from being lazy. Teddy typically goes for comfort over style when it comes to dress, but has been known to clean up for a date or anything special.

One look at him and peopled tend to assumed he's ass holey, entitled, and has little regard for those who are not in the inner circle. Truth be told, had this been high school, those assumptions would be correct. But he's grown over the years since high school, learning through a failed freshman year of college that being someone you aren't just doesn't work out and impressing people who want you love you isn't the way to go. Soul searching put Teddy where he is today: chill, laid back, and tries his best to go with the flow. He's pretty good at keeping his cool and tries his best to not take any bait, even when it's dangling in front of him. He might almost be too nonchalant though, which has caused him to get dumped in the past and leads to people attempting to walk all over him. Teddy also, has a mouth on him, and isn't afraid of to use it. His main weakness, other than burritos and ice cream, will always be pretty girls - he's prone to suave stupidity and being a lovable golden retriever - and if they are some sort of damsel in distress, he will go all out to try and help them or perhaps stick his nose where it doesn't belong - which may not always be the most helpful.
the history
father • Tom Beauchamp; 48, Car Dealership Owner mother • Cherie Beauchamp; 47, House Wife siblings • Reginald "Reggie" Beauchamp, 20, Younger Brother important people • N/A hometown • Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA overall history • Teddy was born into some sort of Tulsa Dynasty. His father and mother were high school sweet hearts and grew up on the right side of the tracks. His father's money came from the Beauchamp car business, which was made up of several dealerships in Tulsa and the greater area. A suave businessman, Tom knew how to get what he wanted and how to make people feel like they needed to please him. Cherie - dating and marrying into all the money in the world - pursued her college degree in business but took a backseat to just be a house wife, enjoying the life of socializing, throwing parties, and eventually raising her children.
As the eldest of the two Beauchamp sons, Teddy had a lot on his plate. He was excepted to follow his father into the business, he found himself living in his parents shadows once he entered middle school, and even worse, high school, because of how great they were and the mark that they left on the schools - both when they were teenagers themselves and then later in life through charity and donations. It frustrated Teddy, but he refused to show it - figuring that he best play into his part. All throughout school, he found himself with the popular kids whether it was looks or legacy or both. Figuring it was destiny and not wanting to disappoint his parents, Teddy did his best to stay in the 'in-crowd'. As time went on, it took a hit on his personality and the joys he had in life trying to keep up with the expectations.
His friends made him a dick in high school as he ruled the school and broke hearts, and his father forced him to pursue things that he didn't care for. The one disappointment he managed to get away with was getting into basketball - his father had wanted football- but it was a respectable enough sport so Tom wouldn't complain. Deep down, Teddy knew his behavior was wrong and most of the time, he found himself questioning his actions, but his friends and girlfriends at the time encouraged it, so he kept going. He also found himself repressing himself from activities that he wanted to do, such as drawing and video gaming, since these were activities that his parents saw unfit and if his parents saw it unfit, then his inner circle friends would as well.
Fast forward to college, Teddy got into a prestigious public university to major in business and to play basket ball. However, those years spent growing up in his parents shadows and the need to please some friends finally caught up to him. He hated business classes - not understanding half of what was being said or what was wanted out of him, and basketball, while he excelled - meant studying video and play calls, which took him away from the parties that people expected him to take. Teddy crashed and burned his freshmen year, flunking out of college. The one saving grace he had, was a single art class. And it spoke monuments to him. His professor, seeing talent unrealized by his student, encouraged him to explore art on his own.
When Teddy returned home to the disappointment of his parents and moved onto his younger brother for grooming, it had been a wake up call. Had he peaked in high school? Had he burned so many bridges simply because he had been doing his best to fit in what was expected of him? It was horrifying, and Teddy found himself doing a lot of soul searching during that time and re-evaluating his life and deciding that he was going to be who he felt like he should be, verses what everyone expected him to be. He took two years off, finding himself and immersing himself in a world where he wanted to be - art, video games, chilling. He made new friends - some had been people who he had even teased in high school.
His father was annoyed with him, his mother not so much, but they did want him to return to college and get a degree. Teddy had become the black sheep where as Reggie had catered to their favor, and unlike him, business had actually made sense to Reggie. So Teddy decided to put himself as far away from Tulsa, OK as he could. He didn't even settle for a different coast or region of the United States, he went for across the pond and ended up in a quaint little down of Hickstead to attend their University and start anew.
