hen the person spoke, it wasn’t the person she was thinking. He could never demand attention like that, let alone grab someone by the hair like that. Dahlia’s lips remained pursed and she stood for a moment. Did she risk taking out her phone? Of course, there were security cameras – but Dahlia knew there was something about getting better close-ups.
Risking it, she took out her phone. She crept closer – but with varying levels of attention, she felt decent about it. There was another station with caps, straws, and packets of sugar. Dahlia crouched behind it but gave herself enough room to take photos. Maybe a video would’ve been better, though photos could be zoomed in a bit better. Her chest beat and Dahlia could feel her blood pumping.
Other patrons had no idea what to do, same as she did. She felt brave though. If something were to happen, she felt like her legs were ready to leave the gate or something.
er head hurt. Why did Dahlia stay up so late? Maybe it was because Moses had kept her up, calling her – worried if he was doing an okay job. Dahlia assured him he was going to be fine, and the next time he needed her advice – maybe call at 10 PM and not 3 AM.
Starbucks wasn’t too busy, and it was needed after some long meetings. A yawn escaped her lips, as Dahlia went to the bathroom first. While she was looking okay, she felt the need to touch herself up first. In case she ran into Jeremy or something like that.
She didn’t really grasp what was happening outside until Dahlia left the bathroom. The door could be heard creaking behind her, as there was a thick silence in the shop. Some suspicious-looking people were at the register, things in their hands.
For the first time in a long time, dahlia could feel her heart pounding in what felt like a hollow body. Did they see her? She found herself creeping along the wall. Her eyes landed on the person next to the cashier. She peered, but the hood’s shadow and the angle she was at - not a lot could be seen. But from the sliver of hair, she could see, and how the person stood, it felt familiar. But how?
Ahhh Dahlia loved the smell of fundraisers. Moses had already made his way to the event as his club was running the fun drink station. Dahlia had shown up on her own, ready to spend some money and schmooze others for their money.
The crisp air kissed her cheeks. She came strolling in with a hot coffee and looked at the map. There was a good selection. Dahlia was still a bit tired from all the evening she had to do last night. She saw the library was holding a tent, so she made her way there. A few waves and hellos were exchanged.
Dahlia found the tent and made her way in. It was nice and cozy, and she could feel the cold melt away.
[attr="class","aofie2-text"]Kiddo time at the library? Like Dahlia, a lot of community work with Aofie too. Another possible friendship too. Albeit, shyer than everyone else I have - she's a good listener and the unfortunate ability of knowing the gossip of town.

[attr="class","aofie2-text"]Due to Dahlia's volunteer work - she works a lot with the police and fire station. I'm sure they could have interacted with Jamie through a soup kitchen or something else a long the lines. They're both stubborn, so I could see them being confidants to each other?

the history
father • Timothy (72) + Gordon (74) Baker, retired mother • none siblings • Moses Julien Baker, 32, night club owner important people • her two sphinx cats, Tiny + Bobo hometown • Hickstead overall history • Dahlia was born to Korean parents who put her up for adoption when she was two years old. She was adopted by Timothy and Gordan Baker, a gay couple who’ve been wanting children of their own for a very long time. Shortly after Dahlia was adopted, they adopted a boy who they named Moses.
Growing up in Hickstead was difficult at the time, being from a family of same-sex couple and interracial. It was unheard of at the time, but Dahlia developed a backbone from the chastising. Timothy was a factory worker while Gordon was a stay-at-home father. The family dynamic was healthy and supportive. Sadly, things changed when factory work was being cut and replaced by machinery. For half of her life, Dahlia was being raised in a small, barely functioning flat. Her fathers worked odd-end jobs to make ends meet.
Through these trials and tribulations, Dahlia and her brother developed a strong sense of independence and hard work. While Moses befriended and worked under the business moguls of Hickstead and London – Dahlia followed more of an art route. Gordon always made sure to take care of whatever lawn they had and brought home flowers from work when they were on super sale. Dahlia latched onto the care of exotic plants and lawn maintenance, she wanted to see how much further she could go.
She attended school in London where she majored in architectural design with a botany background. Dahlia stayed in London until her parents decided to retire. As payback for their love and care, Dahlia had saved up enough and bought a house with some acreage so her parents could live with no worry.
While she isn’t designing for the celebrities of England yet, Dahlia’s schooling and training have made her known to some of the wealthy clientele of the area. During the growth of her business, she opened Maewha Floral to make exotic plants and designs more accessible to the community. She runs a training program to help build community gardens and often employs those that are low on their luck.
