Welcome to Hickstead, home to both Seven Oak Stables, and Blue Acre - two rival stables. Both offer opportunities for their clients to reach the highest level of excellence. Each stable differs from the other, so choose wisely and never forget, loyalty is everything... Meanwhile as the stables battle it out, there's trouble brewing at the university. Be careful, if you don't pick a side you may get caught in the cross-fire...

Come here to see how many show horses the ranch has. The pictures and bios are also included here. The owner can use these horses to teach lessons on, if he so chooses to. They have all been trained by the owner himself. The show horses are all located in the main barn (the first barn). They have individual paddocks to be turned out in, as well as a few large group paddocks. The owner is more careful when putting these horses out together, because he doesn't want them to hurt one another. (If anyone would like to pick up one of these horses to play - by all means - you can go right ahead, just PM the admins account to let me know).
Currently the stable has 5/30 stalls full in this barn.
"Dark Review"
This stallion's barn name is Jake. He is seven years old, and he was the first horse that Kegan went out and bought on his own. Jake is a purebred American Quarter Horse. Sure, Kegan had been riding before he bought Jake - but this was the first horse that Kegan bought himself, without anyone else's help. Jake is trained all the way up to the most advanced levels of barrel racing and roping. He is a feisty stud, but Kegan enjoys working with him. Jake is Kegan's most prized horse, he really feels a bond with him.
"Golden Celebration"
This mare's barn name is Roxi. She is a Thoroughbred X Quarter Horse. She is a feisty mare, and she had been one of the horses that Kegan had bought at an auction - as an abused horse. She had been mistreated for her whole existence on this earth - for five years. It took Kegan a while to gain her trust, but he has owned her four three years now and she is slowly showing him just how much potential she has. She is trained in basic barrel racing and roping, but she is a hard worker and she has a big heart.
"In Demand"
This gelding's barn name is Rhody. He was given to Kegan from his father, two years ago. Rhody is nine years old and he is a pure bred American Quarter Horse. He has a big heart, but he can be rather stubborn at times. You have to be patient when you're working with Rhody, but he has talent. He is currently working at an amateur level of barrel racing, but he knew advanced levels of roping when Kegan had been given him.
"Raven's Echo"
This mare's barn name is Echo. She is currently four years old, and she is a purebred American Quarter Horse. Echo was rescued by Kegan, from a slaughterhouse. He has recently bought her however, so she isn't very skilled in many things. He is slowly working on gaining her trust - a thing he knows that can take a long time. Echo tries to please people though, and she is progressing in her training quickly. She is the best behaved show horse that Kegan owns. She is also the smallest show horse that Kegan has.
"Show Stopper"
This gelding's barn name is Rex. He was purchased by Kegan, at a second auction - right after the auction where he purchased Jake at. Rex is a gentle sweet-heart and he really wouldn't hurt a fly. But as soon as Kegan sets up those barrels, Rex just wants to go. Rex takes his training very seriously, and he is always willing to please Kegan. Rex is eleven years old and he is a Thoroughbred X Quarter Horse cross. He's the type of horse that Kegan put just about any greenhorn on. Rex really takes care of his rider.
Come here to see how many horses have been rescued. The pictures and bios are also included here. The owner does some training with these horses - although if they have been too damaged, he just turns them out to be horses. The rescued horses are all located in the second barn. There are a few individual paddocks located near the barn, but the majority of turn-out for these horses is in large paddocks. The owner finds that these horses do best with being turned out with their own kind. There are also run-in sheds in some of the paddocks so some of the horses can stay out all the time, if they so choose. (If anyone would like to pick up one of these horses to play - by all means - you can go right ahead, just PM the admins account to let me know).
Currently there are 8/25 stalls full in this barn.
"A Better Dream"
This mare's barn name is Dream. She was half-starved when Kegan got her and saved her from the slaughterhouse. She wasn't abused, just neglected. Either way, Kegan hadn't been able to walk away from her. Kegan is going to start working with her, because of her temperament, she will probably thrive with the training and attention. He might even move her to the main barn in the next few months.
"Easy Flight"
This stallion's barn name is Joey. He is a stubborn little guy. But when Kegan had bought him, Joey was too old to be castrated. Joey is now fifteen years old and he runs the roost over here. Joey is the only one that is turned out on his own, in a separate paddock but close enough to keep an eye on his "herd". Kegan hasn't done much with Joey. He knows the basics, but it's rather uncomfortable to ride the small pony.
"Narrow Escape"
This gelding's barn name is Mac. He was at an auction a few years ago that Kegan had gone to, without any intention in buying a horse. But Mac had been in his stall, looking quite pitiful. Kegan bought him just before a large, well-known abuser got the chance to. Kegan named him purposefully after this encounter, because he couldn't imagine what would have happened to Mac if he hadn't been there to buy him. Mac was too abused, mentally and physically and so Kegan just turns him out to pasture. Mac is much better with leading in and out - so he doesn't have to spend all of his time outside now.
"Spotted Magic"
This mare's barn name is Magic. She is very kind-hearted and extremely willing. Kegan doesn't ride her because she is smaller and uncomfortable to ride, but he had a few other riders on her and she didn't do much. She is understanding, even though she had been abused before Kegan had bought her. Magic would be moved to the other barn - but she refuses to go over there. It seems like she wants to enjoy the quiet life. Whenever any of Kegan's small cousins are over, he gives them pony rides with her.
"Summer Breeze"
This gelding's name is Doni. He is rather difficult to get along with. He constantly tries to dominate any of his handlers, and because of that, he spends a lot of time outside. He doesn't like many males around the farm to do anything with him - and half of the time there isn't any time to battle to bring the gelding in, so he is left outside. He has a run-in shed in his paddock as well as a hay and water trough. Nobody rides him, because he is pretty much unapproachable. Kegan doesn't know much about what happened to him in the past.
"Vintage Memory"
This mare's barn name is Bree. She was purchased at the same time as Doni (Summer Breeze). Bree is a little older than Doni. She is around sixteen or so, from what Kegan could get out of the auctioneer. Again, her past is a big of a mystery to Kegan, but he found her to be a great looking horse. She is so far, doing quite well in her training, but every so often she has these dangerous episodes when she completely freaks out and tries to get her rider off. Kegan hasn't figured out why this is, although he wants to - just so that he can help her.
"Zamboni"
This mare's barn name is Zamboni. She is another mystery to Kegan. He bought her just after purchasing Doni and Bree. Zamboni had a full history though, and Kegan found out that she was shuffled around to many different abusive farms. So she has had most of it done to her. She has a lot of old wounds and whatnot, although she is only around twelve or so. Kegan has ridden her a few times, but she doesn't seem interested in anything but being out in a paddock - so that's where Kegan lets her go for a few days at a time. It's hard to keep weight on her, Kegan has a feeling that there is some Thoroughbred in her breeding, but he brings her in every few days so that she gets proper meals.
"Devil's Halo"
This stallion is quite the handful. Kegan just recently purchased him at an auction and he is having a difficult time with him. Kegan doesn't normally buy Arabians, but there was something about this one that made him go for it. Trusting his gut instinct, although he's regretting it ever since. Kegan is tempted to just turn Devil (the stallion's barn name) out to pasture all the time, but he's still going to try to see if he can work through Devil's hardheadedness. Kegan is the only one who works with this horse, and he makes sure that everyone knows it. Devil is dangerous, and all of the ranch hands know this.
Welcome to the Diesel Ranch! Sit back and enjoy the virtual tour!
Self-explanatory.
This is Kegan Diesel's house. It is three stories, including a full furnished basement. He has a bathroom on each floor, along with a private one that attaches to the master bedroom. There is also four extra spare bedrooms, along with a spacious kitchen and living room.
This is Jake and Diane Diesel's house. These are where Kegan's parents live, on the same farm as Kegan. Their house is a short distance away from Kegan's. Not too close, but not too far, just in case there is an emergency of any kind on the farm. The house has four stories, including a fully furnished attic. Many family gatherings have been held at this house. This is the first house built on the ranch land, and it has been up for decades - ever since the first Diesel bought the ranch.
The pond is located somewhere in between both of the family houses, although it's not particularly close to either one. There are a lot of trees and saplings surrounding it, to offer privacy. Ranch hands are welcome to use it if they want to.
This is where the show horses are stabled on this ranch. There are thirty stalls in total, and because of a few recent auctions, Kegan is looking to fill the barn up. He sold off quite a number of his horses, but the barn used to be full. Kegan definitely wants to get this barn full again.
This is what the stabling looks like in the show horse barn. These stalls are well kept and the aisle is always looked after. The stalls are constantly being repaired if need be, and the barn is well looked after.
There is a wash stall in the main barn, as well as in the second barn. It is used during the whole year, and hot water is turned on for the winter months.
This round pen is used for breaking in trouble-some horses. It is located in between the first barn and the second barn.
This barn holds twenty-five stalls and is more for horses that are turned out all the time. There are only a few horses out here, but Kegan is thinking about filling this barn with rescue horses. There are pastures that back right up to the barn, so that the horses can be easily turned outside.
These are what the stalls look like in the second barn, where the horses that aren't going to be shown are held. Troubled or rescued horses are also housed here, and depending on how they behave they could be moved to the show barn (if they have potential) or they could stay here and enjoy an easy life. These stalls are also well looked after.
This is the only cattle barn on the farm. For most of the year, the cattle are turned out twenty-four seven. But during the wet and crappy months, Kegan and his cowpunchers herd the cattle into the barn. They are also in the barn during the winter, because of how the ice can be so dangerous for the cows.
There are many pastures located on this ranch. A few of them are for Kegan's riding horses, and they are a bit smaller. Then there are a few larger paddocks for just cattle, so that they can get rotated around. And there are a few more large paddocks where the horses who are in the second barn get turned out.
This is what the building looks like on the outside for the cowpunchers. Extensions have been made after this photo was taken, allowing for more cowpunchers to be hired.
These are where the hired cowpunchers live on the farm. The building is quite large, and all of the latest and modern appliances are located here. There are lots of showers, and a few bathrooms so that the men can have their privacy. The building is located rather close to both horse barns, just in case a horse gets into trouble during the night.
So with two stables to chose from, it's useful to keep track of who's on which team! If you board your horse at Blue Acre Stables or just have lessons here, please post below with the code provided so your horse and/or character can be added! Even if you're not part of the rivalry, it's important to post if you're part of this yard!
